@MiaN Penhaligon’s Babylon. Or maybe Nest Vanilla Bourbon.
The last time I was in Manhattan it was snowing (11 years ago!)

I need to stop testing Thé Vanille from Nette discovery set as it's not strong enough for this weather and I am just wasting the sprays. I am interested enough of trying it properly

Anyone looking forward to proper cold day tomorrow to take out the big stinkers? Am I naughty enough to wear something like Lira in work?

Let's do something for fun - you are out for a walk in winter Manhattan (see link for inspiration). What perfume are you wearing?

winter in Manhattan

Ooo what a gorgeous thought, a snowy Central Park walk in Manhatten, crisp air, distant city sounds, crunchy snow, and all cosy in proper snuggly layers. Dreamy 😍☃️🗽

I think I’d go to the Harrods FAC for this and choose PDM Valaya for soft, airy, peachy snowflake vibes ❄️

Or Thameen Riviere, with its frosty, diamond-bright sparkle 💎

…or maybe even a combination of both 🤩

IDontHateRainbows · 18/11/2025 21:02

I'd be very tempted by something like velvet tonka, or maybe tobacco vanille.

I am going with Mon Gurlain, 2 sprays only. I am full day in office and have meetings on small rooms. Its just not fair to wear very strong perfumes in this set up.

MiaN · 19/11/2025 07:50

The Gisou hair spray from SpaceNk cracker is stronger than I expected. Happy to try it but would not repurchase

QueefofSheena · 19/11/2025 08:07

I often wear wigs due to med induced alopecia and use hair perfume on my wig caps. Delina is the favourite but Gisou is useful for every day. I can smell the perfumes much longer than on wrists/neck too.

IDontHateRainbows · 19/11/2025 08:11

I'm trying to 'make friends' with the blanche absolu which isn't shifting on ebay or vinted and i'm not prepared to let it go for pennies. Trying to get into why some people absolutely love it to me it smells just like laundry detergent but some smells are acquired tastes and amber for example, I never used to like and now I do. I don't hate it - I'm curious. Lazy sunday morning is a better example of this laundry type scent but seeing as I have the byredo, and it's an absolu, it's a shame to let it go for pennies so I'm giving it a go.

Getting back into Byredo lately which I've always rated as a house and some of my firm favourites from there, I have the pharmacy2u 2 x sets in transit although I may just keep the RONML and Bal D'Afrique

I really wish the delina hair perfume had been included in the PDM countdown calendar. I now have to buy it to complete the collection 😮‍💨 I like Gisou for every day too, and I have a acqua di parma one too, but I don't have the matching perfume for that one 😕

IDontHateRainbows · 19/11/2025 08:13

Has anyone tried the abel laundry day from the liberty scent kit and can report back? That one is as per the name, marketed as a clean laundry scent but from the scent profile quite citrussy?

I swear mumsnet are listening in as I just had a pop up ad for washing machines from AEG with 'award winning laundry' is this how it works these days? I can understand targeted advertising but that was instant!

I also don't understand why people love laundry type smells 🤯 I've kept one of them from TPS ED box that smells laundry-y. It's an expensive fragrance but it's not a trending one so i don't want to end up selling it for next to nothing. I'm going to put it away for summer in the hope that I like it more then. If not, I might just spray my clothes with it 🤣 I actually liked the blanche perfume though, maybe I need to resmell it, maybe I just told myself I like it as its a cute bottle and I love Mumbai noise.

I also love mumbai noise - it was my first real perfume love when I started all this

It's a beautiful perfume 😍 Am I right in thinking that all of the byredo sets on P2U have blanche in them? Or do I need more coffee and new glasses? 🤣

Yeah its the ubiquitous blanche. Hoping i can shift em, there's loads of dabbers on ebay and vinted now since the absolu was in the snk calendar but some people may prefer spray, or the original edp.

In my efforts to explore/understand laundry scent perfumes I've put some lazy sunday morning on the other hand to compare. it's much nicer than blanche, in my humble opinion. This I could get in to, although I wouldn't say I'm drawn to it. Strangely, blanche is more photorealistic for me (ie smells like real detergent) whereas Replica are usually the photorealistic ones.

WFH day today so we all know what that means...spritz time!

I don't like Lazy Sunday Morning at all, it comes as very sharp and annoying. I don't love blanche but will make use of it. I love frederic malle acne studios. The main reason I love laundry scents is stinky public transport and people wearing beast of a perfumes & body odour. It gives me relief from the stink

Its all personal, but clean doesn't go out of style. I like shampoo type of scents top - mojave ghost to me is clean expensive hair product smell.

Oooh which ADP do you have. There’s a couple of those scents I love for winter

HolidayHattie · 19/11/2025 12:06

I'm still going through Saltworks sample sets with a view to buying a FB and maybe a few travel sizes in the BF sale.. Today I'm wearing Ile Rouge on one wrist and I'm really enjoying it. Softly spicy, quite warm, not overly strong. Candidate for a travel size.

On the other hand I have Purple Haze. Notes are raspberry, violet leaf, patchouli, leather. I did get some fruit but the base notes (which I do like in other perfumes) are unpleasant to my nose in this combination.

Yesterday I tried Rock Rose. Notes are saffron, rosewood, rose, cashmere wood. It's ok but smells quite fruity to me and too much like bubble bath.

Also Oud Legacy. Too medicinal for my taste, which is probably the artemisia.

So, one hit and three misses.

IDontHateRainbows · 19/11/2025 12:38

Working through the roses in the byredo grand discovery kit.
Rose of no man's land - like this one, deep not too sweet
Young rose - wasn't sure at first, it's quite fresh and citrussy, growing on me
Rose Noir - Nope. This has a lot of oud in it and I like some rose-ouds but this has a funny smell to it, so it's not one I'm a fan of.

On a day long online training course which is really testing my concentration, so expect further updates as I work through the box!

I've got a few adp perfumes, but just the 1 hair mist, the scent is called magnolia infinita 🤍

QueefofSheena · 19/11/2025 13:42

I really like ADP Oud & Zafira from last year’s Harrods AC. I have a couple of others including the recent one from either HN or SNK AC but I haven’t tried that yet.

IDontHateRainbows · 19/11/2025 14:09

Prada paradoxe radical essence, this is a lovely strong and deep wintery scent despite illogicallly being released in August.... nearly at the end of my sample and considering a repurchase.

That would be my Manhattan winter walk one!
