You need to try the 3 Delinas, 2 Valays, Oriana and Athalia before giving up on PDM. They have a habit to hit the spot if you try enough! I think Delina Rosee have nice modern vibe, so it's the new Valaya. Athalia is very retro according to some but I love it, smells like fancy yoga studio to my nose. They do however go heavy on synthetics to make their scents lasting and it annoys some.

Athalia it's my PDM love followed by Delina Rosee

Looking at the original review @MiaN linked fart perfume was used to describe a scent that die hard perfumistas desensitised to most stuff would want. https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5424071-scent-of-the-day-with-the-friendly-perfumistas-spritzing-again-thread-5?reply=148396997 So I think a perfume that is very “unique” and makes people want to stay away from you … I don’t know how unique it is, see mentions of animalic, sexy, sweaty in some perfumes - I read more on fragrantica than I try. I think all the Bibbi I have tried are fart smells. Sorry Bibbi.

I would agree with you on most Bibbis, and swimming pool (such a lovely name - such high hopes) smelt like something from a medicine cabinet but I'm enjoying the vanilla factory.

Just as well as I've bought three of the scent kits now, will keep some back to sell and some for personal use. This is the best scent kit they've ever done in my opinion and for just over £100 (BD members) a complete steal!

I haven’t but I’m interested. As much as I love commodity Milk Orchid it aggravates my skin on my neck.

QueefofSheena · 15/11/2025 12:15

SOTD is Kilian Good Girl Gone Bad. It’s a much softer scent than the other Kilian’s I have. Fruity and floral without being as punchy as some on me. I’d RP but probably only in 7.5/10ml as FS is so pricy

I smelled them all in store without testing on paper or skin. I recall really liking one but unfortunately didn't remember which one.

MiaN · 15/11/2025 13:03

Perfume in general is not good for the skin unfortunately, alcohol is only small part of it. I prefer sprayin on clothes over the winter

That’s interesting. Before the scent kit last summer I stuck to scented body lotions, amber vanille like you is a fav and Ouai St Barts. Perfume only on a night out.

MiaN · 15/11/2025 13:17

I spray Amber Vanilla on my dressing gown, and St Barts on hair mainly. I buy mainly fragrance free face skincare but I do sometimes fall for scented body products. Not that perfume is good for hair but you cut hair at some point! I love perfume but try limit direct spraying on my skin apart from my wrist when possible. In the bath instead of heavily scented bath products I spray the tiles to get myself nice scent bubble

IDontHateRainbows · 15/11/2025 13:18

I actually developed eczema a while back as a result of over spraying, I ended up on creams from the dr. Didn't stop me, my skin kind of got used to having loads of perfume sprayed every day and I just put the cream on and slow down a bit if it gets a bit itchy. The first time was hell on earth, really itchy skin and all sore and red and I did wonder at the time if that was it and I'd have to give up perfume but I somehow adapted as it's never been like that again.

I am interested to try the alcohol free ones though as I do find my skin gets dry from the alcohol. Mr Rainbows once joked that I couldn't be sure I'd pass a breathylser I am spraying so much on!

I got a tester set from Saltworks. I’m very allergic to most of them. Anyone else?

I've had several of their discovery sets and somehow found myself succumbing to the hype surrounding the recent limited edition one. I've not had any skin sensitivity issues to any of them although one or two have made me cough. They do boast about using higher concentrations of perfume oils than most others, so maybe that's a reason? Can you try using a body lotion or vaseline as a barrier? It's also supposed to make scents last longer.

Have you found any you like?

HolidayHattie · 15/11/2025 14:47

AlPaccacino · 14/11/2025 23:28

I have the new discovery set that came out a fortnight ago. A few scrubbers in there: Bambooshka is just too green for me. Like dandelion sap. Copa Cabana; my notes just say ‘euuuurgh sour! ‘. I love Tabac Nuit; deep dark vanilla and Cherryoakee which is like a warm Bakewell tart.

I love Cherry Oakie too. Might even get a FB - I'm hoping they will have some BF offers.
I expected to love Tabac Nuit but it didn't quite hit the spot, for me. I still have several more to try.

BakeOffRewatch · 15/11/2025 15:25

Just been to M&S they have another EDP out now “Soft Iris”. I smelled the bottle and didn’t spray as I’ve got PDM Delina on, it’s really nice. Notes are iris, bergamot, patchouli. https://www.marksandspencer.com/ultimate-soft-iris-eau-de-parfum-50ml/p/hbp60709008 Full description is “Soft iris and delicate jasmine open with a touch of bergamot brightness, while orange blossom essence adds floral depth. Settling into an aromatic base of vetiver, amber and patchouli.” Think I’ll buy that one. I think that’s four EDPs M&S are doing now. Pink Pepper, Warm Neroli and White Coconut are the other ones.

PDM Delina is pleasant but I feel like I’m wearing someone else’s perfume. I wonder if someone I knew or worked with wore it.

Oh they do a little discovery set of all four, each bottle is 30ml for £29.50. A 50ml bottle is £16. 30ml is a full size as far as I’m concerned. www.marksandspencer.com/eau-de-parfum-intense-gift-set/p/hbp60738204

SOTE is Ariane Grande Mod Vanilla. After my disappointment/buyers remorse with Vanilla Suede, I sold that one and got this one instead which I have used before, it's a lovely, milky vanilla with I think plum notes.

Tempted to work my way through more of the byredo grand discovery kit tonight although I'm in a gourmandy mood lately and they are not noted for gourmads (please correct me anyone who is familiar with Byredo and thinks I've got that one wrong)

OP posts:
Lurkingshark · 15/11/2025 19:35

I think you are bang on @IDontHateRainbows . I got lots of violet and dill and a bit of rose but not much vanilla in byredo. Blanche was a right bore for me, totally nothing.

I quite like the bibbis. I wouldn’t buy a FB but the three in kits etc I’ve tried are perfectly pleasant and good for a generic office/ town day.

SOTD verticaloud by hermetica. It has gone cloudy in the bottle so not sure whether to bin it.

I didn't like verticaloud, didn't mind the rose or the oud but it had a leathery quality that didn't work for me. I do like rose and oud in combo, my favourite being eldo nostos with MH scherzo a close second. I have a mizensir golden oud which despite the name is rose-oud, haven't tried it yet as it's on the 'to try' list tucked away in a drawer.

Byredo is quite a love hate house for me, and the house that got me into all this in the first place. I had just gone on to Mounjaro about october of last year and was into the beauty advent calendars, byredo was in everything and the mumbai noise dabber was in I think Harrods, and I fell in love with it and the rest is history. Since then I have sniffed and loved Mojave Ghost, Alto Astral and more recently was a fan of Animalique and Slow Dance. But Bal D'Afrique I find too sharp, and gypsy water is ok but extremely fleeting. Also not a fan of the super cedar or black saffron. I will continue to sniff away at the grand discovery set and report back!

Sotd next Eau Nude
Allegedly, this is a dude for Chanel Coco
I haven't smelt Coco so can't comment on that, but it's a very wearable peppery musk

IDontHateRainbows · 15/11/2025 21:53

Mixed emotions from the grand discovery kit - big nope from me, this smells of blackberry cough medicine. Also tried Inflorescence and got on a lot better with that, its white florals done well and I never used to be into florals but I have aquired a taste for white florals now.

Byredo seem to have loads of leathery notes which I'm not a fan of in general, although my tastes do seem to change over time so maybe I will be one day, who knows.

I’ve finished my overhaul of my dressing table. The top is now completely clear with just a jewellery stand, the egg flip lid and drawers storage and a hair brush. Top drawer is boxes of things like @MiaN suggested. For the perfumes I’ve used the Cult Beauty Lay Flat Travel Organiser https://www.cultbeauty.co.uk/p/cult-beauty-black-travel-organiser-bag/14272834/ that came with 2024 summer travel edit. It’s got lots of little pockets to hold bottles upright. And left the teeny weeny bottles lying on the bottom. I did actually use that as my main travel bag, it’s amazing hopefully I’ll get another next summer. I didn’t think this summers edit was very good.
