I’m flying to the Canaries in mid December and don’t want suffer in the heat travelling from the airport to our destination. I also want to be comfortable during the flight. We’re leaving the car in airport parking and getting the shuttle to the airport.

I was thinking a knee length sundress in black (sleeveless) with leggings under, cardigan or jumper and longish gilet with trainers.

What would you wear?

No, if you’re going to buy those Cornish pastie hotter shoes, I can’t be your friend! I get mine dug out at the local nail salon - they do a pedi for £36, sort my big toe nail out, hard skin, the lot, so much cheaper and more civilised than the chiropodist! Hope you get it sorted soon, it’s so painful and you’re right, it does make you feel very grumpy, so you are forgiven!

UK spring/autumn attire.

Long trousers, long sleeve top for evenings. Denim jacket.

Day time- sundress and denim jacket but you will need to take it off.

If you're by the pool in a sheltered area it will be bikini weather for sunbathing.

I travel with linen trousers, t shirt and cardi with a lightweight jacket that I can fold into my hand luggage because arriving back to Glasgow Airport at 4am is bloody freezing

Sorry just to add- I would personally suck it up for travel to and from airport. Not worth lugging a wint r coat just for the car journey. It won't be cold in the airport

I always take warm clothes even when going to hot destinations (travelling to the airport, plane air con, colder nights and mornings). My travel uniform is:
hidden support cami top, long sleeve cardigan, lightweight fleece, pashmina, jeans, socks and trainers. If it's really cold in the UK, I'd also have gloves and a hat.

I change at the airport before I get on the flight, swapping the jeans for linen blend trousers and the trainers for pumps.

I keep the jeans in my hand luggage (in case my hold luggage is lost or delayed). I also take a spare pair of undies and one bikini in my hand luggage too.

I can't believe I'm reading grown women discussing what's best to wear going and coming from a holiday. I know it's going to be in December but honestly, it's very easy and the choices really depend on how you feel about different items.

I go away for Christmas too, and I don't even think about it. Loose elastic waisted trousers, T shirt, and either cardigan or fleece + a warm scarf. Rainjacket on top of all that (at departure) if I'm cold and off I go. The layers are the key. Pull on, peel off!

Well this is style and beauty - if everyone felt like you there would be no need for the thread.

And, secondly some people find decision making difficult. I am one of those. It’s hard to explain if it doesn’t affect you. But yes it can be paralysing at times.

Hope you that toe sorted -the pain of an ingrown toenail is immeasurable you have my sympathy. I have been know for o wear tevas in December.
