When do you take off your make up?

Do you tend to take it off as soon as your home or do you do it before bed? I do mine before bed but I wonder if my skin would thank me for taking it off sooner?!?

As soon as I get home. I don't wear much makeup but it just feels more comfortable to have a nice clean face before dinner,

Zuve · 18/10/2025 19:48

Oh, long before bed, about nine on a work day but later on weekends. My hubby has never seen me without makeup

OhMyGiddyAunt · 18/10/2025 19:48

I use micellar water before bed but I think I've read recently that it's not good for your skin

TheChosenTwo · 18/10/2025 19:48

I don’t wear any day to day, only on a night out so it comes off as soon as I get home because I’m going to bed!
Although even then I’ll just have on some lipstick and maybe eyeliner or mascara.
I think if I was wearing foundation or any kind of base products day to day I’d rather remove them when I got home if there were a few hours between then and going to bed. I reckon your skin probably would thank you!

It’s a myth that makeup is inherently bad for your skin. As long as it’s applied with clean brushes/hands and taken off before bed I don’t think your skin will notice any difference than if you took it off a few hours earlier. In fact my skin is better when I do wear makeup because I don’t touch my face whereas I do when I’m not wearing any!

Thewalrusandthecarpenter · 18/10/2025 19:52

I take it off as soon as I come home, if I’m absolutely sure that I won’t be going out again. I also take my work clothes off and put my pyjamas on.

ProfessorInkling · 18/10/2025 19:54

I try and do it early, because the chances of me not doing it increases with time, and then I regret that the next day.

Doesn’t he ever see you when you’re asleep and he’s awake?

TMMC1 · 18/10/2025 21:19

As long as it’s decent quality before bed is fine, that’s what I do.

Sassylovesbooks · 18/10/2025 21:19

I always remove my makeup as soon as come home.

Comefromaway · 18/10/2025 21:24

As I only wear lipstick & a little cream blush day to day it’s before bed. On special occasions or nights out then I’m usually going to bed when I get in anyway.

Anjelika · 18/10/2025 21:47

I wear makeup every day and take mine off before bed. On a good day I take it off a bit earlier - after dinner - which simplifies going to bed later!

My hubby has never seen me without naje up

How?

don't you live together/sleep together?

@ChickenNoodle1 I don't wear any.

SwedishEdith · 18/10/2025 21:51

In the morning.

GLC789 · 18/10/2025 21:53

I recently changed from right before bed, to just before dinner. Game changer tbh.

I take it off before dinner. Toner and moisturiser.

Then just before bed I brush my teeth and if im feeling fancy ill put an over night cream on
Estee Lauder over night treatment is my current favourite

Edit - typo

In the shower before bed. I use Liz Earle so massage that in and use exfoliating gloves/muslin cloth.

QueenOfWeeds · 18/10/2025 21:59

Whilst DDs are in the bath, so some point between 6 and 7pm. Try to make the most of my time whilst I’m in the bathroom with them! Clean face and PJs on, normally.

bluedelphiniums · 18/10/2025 22:05

Just before bath & bed. Eye make up remover, then Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish.

Six o'clock make up comes off, lounge wear on, dinner and Netflix.

latishia6 · 18/10/2025 22:23

I take mine off as my son is falling asleep. I then put my skincare on over the next couple of hours or so whilst I watch an episode of something and get ready for bed. I use lots of different skincare products that I prefer to let soak in for 10/15 mins before I apply the next one, and tretinoin which needs to go on dry skin.

OldBeyondMyYears · 18/10/2025 22:38

It gets removed when I’m in the shower every morning 😂 I’m 61, have beautiful skin and I’ve never used any fancy lotions!

LillyPJ · 18/10/2025 22:41

I took mine off around 1987 and haven't worn any since.
