I am a member, why didn’t I get the email I wonder?

Edited

Apologies. It wasn't an email. A friend sent a screen shot last night which I saw this morning. I've looked back through emails and nothing from JL. I have since had an email from JL after I tapped the "let me know when it's in stock" button, to say they are working hard to get new stock. 🙄

That’s really good! Maybe I should message them again. After you said you’d received the 5ml welcome gift, I emailed them and they sent me a 5ml bottle of my choice, but no body cream 🤔

It's worth a try. This is what I wrote in my complaint 🤣

Hi,
I ordered the Countdown calendar for my wife and received the palatine 5ml as the welcome gift, however, her friend ordered a day or 2 later and has received a 5ml Valaya & a 50ml body cream welcome gift. It seems we have been penalised for ordering early and my wife is upset as she would've picked this option had it been available. Are you able to offer any of the options:

  1. (preferred) You send out the body cream to us without the Valaya perfume and she keeps the palatine perfume
  2. I return the palatine perfume and receive the Valaya perfume and body cream
  3. I return the order in full for a refund and reorder.
I hope we can come to a satisfactory conclusion. Kind regards

I bought the lux one. Mostly because I wanted the La Mer cream which is the same one in the Vogue calendar but I didn't want to buy Vogue to try it.

Yeah, I wish I'd bought it now. It was a moisturiser that I was after, so either the Murad in heroes or shiseido in luxe would've been good. I desperately need moisturiser and I'm trying to hold off buying some, I'm just using up travel sizes and samples at the moment, hoping that gets me through until advent opening time 😬

Did you order it online or buy it in a shop? Unless the UK has gotten rid of the EU law on distance selling (I think UK naturalised that one but I'm not sure), you are entitled to return anything bought online within 28 days, although you must inform them within 14 days of your intention and return within 14 days of informing them. They then have 14 days to refund you so long as you have proof of postage.

I ordered online and have proof of the return postage. I think it’s a case of ‘computer says no’ with CS as if a manager had intervened and given me a small discount, I’d be happy. Instead I’m very unhappy and will spend my money elsewhere!

HollyGolightly4 · 18/10/2025 13:33

Shocking customer service from HN!

Glad to hear that the jarrolds box was hiding something better though.

I don't think they ever discount Vogue.

Christmaschristmas · 18/10/2025 13:37

Sorry if this has already been mentioned but the code COMEBACK15 takes 15% off the OK calendar, making it £84.15.

IDontHateRainbows · 18/10/2025 14:03

HN are crap with returning beauty stuff. You have to phone CS and really hammer.home the 14 days legal thing. Ask to speak to their legal department! I remember one time I had to fill in a special form, not the usual returns process and send back at my own expense. I did get a refund eventually but they don't make it easy. Puts you off buying so whatever they may save, its a false economy.

IDontHateRainbows · 18/10/2025 14:05

As for me my broken delina in the fenwick AC did eventually result in a £10 refund. Again had to jump through hoops first. Would have preferred a new one but understand that may not be possible with AC contents so I thought a tenner was fair.

Caggie09 · 18/10/2025 14:18

Wow, reading all these in regards to CS, you think they would handle these situations better. Hopefully all gets resolved with anyone who has an issue.

Ive bought Miami Shake from SNK AC from vinted, sounds lovely. Cant wait to sniff. Spending my afternoon catching up on some unboxings on youtube. Not that i need anymore👀

Addictedtobeauty · 18/10/2025 14:29

My HN BAC has arrived already. I ordered yesterday lunchtime and didn’t pay for next day delivery. I’m impressed at the speed and delighted with my unexpected purchase. I hope they make the fragrance one more appealing with a good discount.

Keffert · 18/10/2025 15:06

@XelaM I’m very forgetful so although I read what’s in the calendars to make sure I think it’s worth it before purchasing there’s no chance I’d remember by December! I quickly opened the drawers to check they were all full on mine but am wondering whether I should have done a more thorough check to make sure the contents were correct. I was thinking of doing a diy but my concern with that was that it would be less exciting.

@AppleDumplingWithCustard that calendar looks great, and only two DOD for me 😃. I’m not buying another one because I already have one and a half (shared with dd) and I feel like having multiple would take away some of the excitement for me but this is definitely going on my list to keep an eye out for next year. Hopefully it will be as good then!

@Brightermornings fingers crossed for the job and the Harrods BAC sounds like an ideal celebration gift to yourself if (when) you do get it. I looked at the Harrods one in the flesh and it looked better than it had done just reading the products.

@shinny that’s terrible customer service.

@owlpassport when did you order the ok? I ordered for dd1 but it hasn’t even been dispatched yet.

Thelifeofawife · 18/10/2025 15:42

I’ve just unboxed my HN beauty, HN fragrance and SNK fragrance. It was such a treat.
There’s a few fragrances that I need to go do a sniff test on, as I’d rather not temper with them if I need to sell on. But from the ones I did smell, there’s a good range to split between me and my DS. I’m trying to decide now whether to make a DIY fragrance AC for him, or whether to put them in his Xmas stocking and wrap his YSL trio as part of his main gifts.

TempleBra · 18/10/2025 15:44

This is really late as I’ve been away with work, I did read all the pages since I received the email on Weds and haven’t seen any mention of it but did everyone else who ordered the Flannel’s men’s fragrance box get a delayed (again) email?

I don’t know if I’m making this up but was there a supply chain issue last year with a fragrance in a BAC/similar that delayed delivery or something? In my head, if I haven’t invented this info, we didn’t know which fragrance it was exactly and there were some theories but I’m sure Creed was in there so wondering if it was them and it’s them again with this product. Just hope it turns up eventually, starting to worry as I’ve no idea what I would replace this gift with at the moment.

I've decided to turn the SNK fragrance AC box into a 12 day calendar for DS. He won't be home from Uni long enough for a 24 day one but I thought that would be a nice way of putting together the bits and pieces I've got for him.

Yes I got the 2nd delay email. I'm not in a rush for it but it's not great either. Was going to use the contents in a mini advent for DS.

Puravida23 · 18/10/2025 16:43

@TempleBra it was flannels which had a delay with their men’s fragrance crackers last year don’t know which fragrance caused it but they cancelled my men’s cracker (which also had the women’s cracker on the order the women’s arrived ok) then the men’s was restocked so had to order it again incurring another (ridiculously expensive delivery charge ) I was not impressed (and haven’t ordered them this year)

OvaHere · 18/10/2025 16:56

@Puravida23 I hope they don't do that this year. I'll be really annoyed.

doublecleansed · 18/10/2025 16:58

I’ve been dithering over whether to get an advent at all this year. Had barely looked at Liberty as for some reason I always dismiss it (think it’s offering has been a bit dull past few years) but I just had a good look and there’s lots of interesting and really lovely stuff in there - and the make up is all lovely shades that I’d wear (i love red lipstick but do not need another and they seem a staple in most calendars!) I've never had the Liberty calendar before and obviously visually it’s gorgeous. It’s pretty £££££ though - but I have had an exceptionally shit year going through cancer treatment. Anyone want to enable me?! Who has it and thinks it’s good this year? I mainly like that there are lots of Liberty exclusive brands rather than the same old names, so it’s a chance to try some different stuff.

Everyone here will enable you. Go buy it and have a lovely December full of treats for yourself. You sound like you deserve it. Flowers

You definitely deserve a treat.
I caved and ordered it yesterday, there's some lovely bits in there.
You could sign up to their beauty drop which would give you a £25 discount, and you'd get the October beauty box which is a nice (free) treat.
Also if it's your birthday soon, make sure they know as they'll send you a £5 voucher, which can be used with the advent calendar.

Absolutely get it! It’s such a lovely treat and you deserve it

Get it ordered 😁 It's such a beautiful calendar and you deserve to end the year in luxury. If any year calls for a Liberty advent calendar, it's definitely this one 🩷

Addictedtobeauty · 18/10/2025 17:38

@doublecleansed you definitely deserve a treat after a shit year and the Liberty this year is phenomenal - my favourite - with a great mix of skincare, fragrance and make up. If you can afford it, buy it and take delight in a guaranteed treat filled December no matter what else is going on in life x

Growlybear83 · 18/10/2025 17:39

@doublecleansed. Have you looked at the Liberty men’s calendar? I really wish that I’d thought to look at the contents before I bought my women’s Liberty. It’s not really man-specific at all, and I think the box is really lovely.

StrikeForever · 18/10/2025 17:42

Having watched an unboxing of the M&S calendar on YouTube, I decided to take the plunge. The is £100 of products I already use, albeit other brands. Some other bits, I might use, but wouldn’t have bought. Therefore it’s reasonable value for me and allows me to try other brands and have something nice going on in December. I’m not a big fan of Christmas, so anything that helps with that is welcome.
