We found my old Diptyque box in the garage today doing a clear out, complete with their silver tree ornaments and a candle still in its box. I was thinking of selling it but it’s just so beautiful.

Thanks for the new thread. Following on from the chat at the end of the old one I think one of two things will happen through October. There will either be a snowball effect of the 'big' ones selling out. SNK and Harrods the first most likely then people will scramble for what's left. Or due to over saturation and other market factors the bottom has fallen out of the BAC industry and there will be good deals to be had around Black Friday.

Maybe will be a bit of both because there's an insane amount of AC this year but I do think the main ones will start selling out by the back end of Oct. Really need to remember this next year and slow my roll in Aug/Sept. 😁

I think there’s a lot of people holding out for discounts and when the first one sells out then yes knock on effect to all the others. Also I think November is when people start thinking “Christmas!” and about ACs so I don’t think we’ll have many to choose from come the first weekend in November.

Not just discounts I think there’s a few more to be revealed isn’t there?

My last post on the other thread was to say I’ve realised the Sniph calendar is imminent. I’m quite curious: in the past they’ve included own brand stuff in the calendar but they do some fabulous niche brands. I’m currently lusting after this after discovering the one I got from my Sniph subscription a while back:

I have the fragrance calendars from Harrods and LF so no chance of discounts there when its a race to buy!

I would be interested if there are reductions later for mixed beauty ones though as nothing else has really grabbed me so far at current prices. I doubt I'd have bought Liberty without the BD credit tbh

I need to decide if I'm getting HN fragrance so I can be ready when it releases as that will sell out. But also bear in mind I may wnat the SNK fragrance too. It's a tough life!

I agree re the selling out and also wander if the US tariff situation is affecting some of the bigger brands as know SNK is not shipping and think Harrods had an extra $100 for tariffs added on.

That's a really good point. I don't think I'd realised how many UK beauty advents were sold to the US. That will hurt SNK as they aren't shipping there this year and it was a top US favourite. Maybe CB will edge out SNK to the finishing post due to them shipping to the US and offering gift cards.

The gift card offer is basically a £20 reduction isn’t it? So clearly the calendars aren’t flying.

I’ve never got myself anything nice gif Christmas. It’s my 50th this year so I was thinking about a beauty calendar - but I don’t even know where to start. Any pointers for an AC novice?

What brands/products do you like? Would you want more skin care or make up or fragrance? What’s your budget?

I had Space NK as my birthday gift. Waiting on perfume shop and LF advent. I don't think HN fragrance is for me this year, I hope Space NK does better. They still have some of their summer fragrance edit in store, I hope they have learned a lesson!

I've never tried the Pro Artist range from No7 but £45 is a good price for all those products.

I’m very tempted by the Korres calendar. I love Korres and remember eyeing up their calendar last year. Haven’t looked through the contents properly yet but if the Greek yoghurt cleanser and some of the body creams are in there, I’m getting it.

This is true. The US market was going crazy for our calendars last year, so international shipping could make a big difference.

DH has bought me the Elemis advent as I use the products everyday. It arrived today however feeling very underwhelmed by it. It’s very light and not a patch on the LF grooming advent I bought for DC1. I’ve definitely made the wrong choice this year.

My introductory offer to Liberty’s BD ends in October and I will have a whole £60 in credit. If the a/c is still around then, I can see me cracking and buying it.

Sticking points are still:

The price!

The huge amount of stuff I have already🙀

The fact that having done a ‘sniff around’ in the Liberty perfume section - the only perfumes I didn’t mind were the Zephirine and the Vanilla Powder. I missed out on testing one, but I found the others just awful on me.

I would use everything else, though.

It’s ridiculous, but even a small discount would probably tip me into buying it. As it is, I am letting the market decide! If it goes, it goes.

I bought the SNK which I'm strictly not opening until December and, after it was recommended on this thread, the Scent with Love fragrance edit from Liberty, but have caved and already tried 2 of the perfumes which I really like.

I got Space NK, Liberty and Glossybox. I did a big bundle on Vinted with some of the Glossybox and other bits (avant and that eye cream) 19 items for £25 and it sold within hours so maybe I misjudged that one.

Cult beauty have replaced their reviews with reviews from brand sites which is such a shame. Brand sites always have suspiciously high scores and freebie reviews. Space NK done the same so trying to find good reviews is now harder and Makeup Alley's last day is today. 😭

LIB is looking like a no, in the email today, only one thing I'd use and I don't need it. the Medik8 SPF I've just got the CB box with Shiseido SPF in.

I watched Crystal's unboxing of HNs just to see if like me she was a bit what the heck about toothpaste, and she was.

Not buying anything else without serious discounts now.

I have sold a couple of fragrances but most the advents are pretty intact at the moment
I could be tempted by a discount to below £100 for Elle, vaguely interested in You beauty but think this is because there is a hand cream in it which would be a mad reason to buy it
. I am longing for maybe a bit more luxe in relation to nice hand creams, bath oil and candles which I think a lot of the advents have been missing this year. I may revisit Fortnums and consider this as a possible extra as this is usually good in this area .
