And its over. I think I’ll be keeping three pieces out of six. The check linen top, the boxy t shirt and the nasturtium dress.

The cross back dress doesn’t fit, the chambray shirt isn’t ‘me’ and the poplin dress is too summery, even for summer (in the north of Scotland).

I’ve not bought anything full price yet.

The space dyed skirt is lovely (saw it in the Harrogate store and keep thinking about it) but its too expensive for yet another beautiful thick winter skirt that will end up in the wardrobe never being worn as nothing will go with it. I really should save my money for another pair of Annies and a thin knit for under coats.

AmethystMoonShine · 30/09/2025 07:17

My first two parcels arrived yesterday. The others have yet to be dispatched so I am not hopeful and will chase up for a refund in a day or so if I don’t hear more.
I’m keeping the checked cotton linen smock, the moonstar pumps, the black straight leg jeans and the blue PJs.
The moonstar pumps are perfect and unexpectedly so as the reviews were mixed. They are just what I’ve been looking for but I was not going to pay the original price for plimsolls! £65 is still a lot.
I’m pleased with the black jeans, I’ve tried them before but now I’ve finally got the size right. I ended up with a 14, I’m usually a 10 or 12 in Toast so this was a final shot at them. Classic Toast sizing fun 😂
The PJs I knew I’d keep as I have them in another colour. I was surprised to find though that my older pair are a L and these are a M. They are the same though. I think when I bought the previous pair the M had sold out so I thought that as I like PJs loose it would be fine. They’re the softest thing to sleep in and will be worn lots.
Love that @IlovePond ‘s dress recommendation is a hit with others. I missed out but will stalk in the next sale for returns as the green colour is beautiful.

Countmeout · 30/09/2025 08:58

@ToastCosILoveIt I have returned it. I couldn’t live with the non whiteness of it. I ordered the blue the day after my first orders and have just noticed it hasn’t been dispatched yet.

@CakeAndJazz I am 5’4”. I think I can see how it could be shortened to keep the stitching but will have to see if the wee lady that does repairs etc thinks so too. I would really only want it up another inch or so , I think anymore might throw the look off balance. I’ll wear it on holiday this month and then decide if I can live with it. I will need to wear a bib when eating. 🤣 maybe should have bought the netball bib.

Cheekily reposting this from the previous thread, as I think it got caught up in initial sale frenzy chat…
Not sale related but has anyone tried or bought the new wool vneck dress? This one: https://www.toa.st/products/wool-knitted-v-neck-dress-biscuit
On the face of it, it seems like entirely the wrong thing for a 5’2” 50-something with a bust and a menopausal tummy. But I tried it on a few weeks ago and can’t get it out of my head. I would normally be a M in a dress and that did fit, but was a little too figure hugging in places (it’s not very fitted, but my belly really is very menopausal!). The L though looked good over a neat jumper (like it is styled on the website) or with a loose jumper over it so it looks like a skirt. I wonder if it is a totally impractical buy though and if I wouldn’t get much wear out of it in reality. Anyone else got/tried it and have thoughts about styling it? Thanks.

have you looked at this dress in cos? I have it from last year in black - it is thick soft boiled wool and it layers over everything. The cut is clever because it is tulip shaped and the very low neck gives an impression of a waist :)

Brillenbar47 · 30/09/2025 10:17

I should say I am also a 5'2" 50plus individual with menopausal tum and a waist that went who knows where

Brackenfield · 30/09/2025 11:08

Place marking as thread watching/following not working for some reason.

CakeAndJazz · 30/09/2025 11:45

Thanks @Countmeout am also 5 4 so I’ll keep a look out for it in the next sale.

I also received the Cubitts sunglasses yesterday and I remember someone here mentioned them at the last sale (but I never managed them then). They are such a beautiful, classic shape, so definitely keeping them.

Countmeout · 30/09/2025 14:28

That’s a lovely Cos dress linked @Brillenbar47

@ScottishMouse that dress seems to be wool rather than cashmere/wool so,I think it just might be more durable. Is it very long though? I thought the one with sleeves might be lovely and cosy even for curling up on the sofa, like wearing a big hug.

BankfieldForever · 30/09/2025 15:33

I’m sure you don’t mean anything by it @Countmeout, and I don’t wish to derail so I won’t mention it again but could you please not refer to your tailor as ‘the wee lady that does repairs’. It’s belittling, like calling your plumber ‘the little man that fixes taps’, and I don’t think you (or anyone) would do that.

I used to be a professional tailor/dressmaker but now only do it for myself, partly because of the lack of value placed on the skilled service I was offering, and the personal and really quite misogynistic disrespect (like your comment) that came with it.

Sorry everyone. Back to sale parcels and lovely Toast clothes!

I’m 4’11 so everything has to be shortened. I find that for me if I shorten things from the waist they end up fitting sooo much better than chopping some off at the hem.

BankfieldForever · 30/09/2025 15:34

I need new sunglasses, I didn’t think to look in the Toast sale!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 30/09/2025 17:51

My last sale order from Saturday remains unfulfilled, I think I’ve lost interest in it now and would rather see if there’s a new drop with something lovely to buy soon.

BankfieldForever · 30/09/2025 17:56

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 30/09/2025 17:51

My last sale order from Saturday remains unfulfilled, I think I’ve lost interest in it now and would rather see if there’s a new drop with something lovely to buy soon.

My order from Thursday afternoon was posted yesterday. It seemed like a long time but it was only actually two working days.

I don’t blame you for losing interest though, having thought about it, buying summer clothes at this time of year seems a bit daft to me when there are som many lovely autumn clothes (the only clothes I’m really interested in!) appearing.

OftenOrange · 30/09/2025 18:45

I’m getting sale envy here , like @AFingerofFudge I’ve been restrained only because I’m out of UK
I bought only the royal blue and navy striped dress and also a blue and green Gia shirt both of which I may wear in October.

Unlike @Theteapotsbrokenspout and many of you , I love ordering out of season, I put the clothes away unworn and then next Summer have a lovely surprise as I’ve usually forgotten all about them .

faustina · 30/09/2025 19:59

Oh I've done that @OftenOrange - and you're right, it is a lovely surprise, but I find it really hard to work out (out of season) if a thing is going to work for me. Once I'm in Autumn mode it seems really difficult to get my head around anything else!

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - very poor that your order is neither fulfilled or refunded by now. Hope you find something special in its place!

Stoic123 · 30/09/2025 20:00

@ScottishMouse - thanks for the info about the Check Cotton Linen Patch Pocket trousers. I've tried them on again and I'm keeping them - I like them and I think, as you say, they'll improve as they soften with washing.

Also have a still unfulfilled sales order from the weekend - despatch is normally faster than this. Probably not the incentive to get items out (and returned) so quickly as the sale window was short. Pricing was pretty good too so demand might have been higher than expected.

BankfieldForever · 30/09/2025 20:56

@Stoic123 Pricing was amazing this time. I went into the sale to have a look early on Thursday afternoon and bought six items (including 2 dresses) for just under £300.

I had another look on Friday morning and everything I’d have been interested in was sold out.

Full priced items are eye wateringly expensive this season though. I have plans to buy less than I usually would this season by getting out and wearing the past season stuff I’d been ‘saving for best’ (I know, I know) and making a few pieces from my fabric stash.

Snowyowl78 · 01/10/2025 04:27

@Brillenbar47 i like the look of that Cos dress a lot! I did think it looked very long, do you think the length is ok on 5’2? How long does it reach on your legs?

Brillenbar47 · 01/10/2025 07:36

@snowyowl78 it is low calf on me - inch or 2 above ankle bone- which i like. I think it would be relatively easy to shorten. The length it is i am happy wearing with boots converse or flats.

AmethystMoonShine · 01/10/2025 08:08

Another parcel dispatch email just now for the Hogla place mats…… one more due for the raised stripe blue shirt. Similar to @Theteapotsbrokenspout though I’ve kind of lost interest because it’s taken so long! Though my bank balance may thank me 😂

IlovePond · 01/10/2025 08:25

My parcel is apparently en route - really unimpressed given I ordered Thursday pm.

I’ve never known dispatch to take so long! I’m guessing it’s either a systems or resource issue?

JacknDiane · 01/10/2025 08:35

I love autumn but hate the rain and dampness

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 01/10/2025 09:28

@IlovePond I won’t hold my breath for my Saturday order then 🙄. I’m probably just going to send it back unopened if it’s ever dispatched - I really can’t be bothered with summer trousers now.

IlovePond · 01/10/2025 11:28

I know what you mean @Theteapotsbrokenspout - it’s seriously unimpressive!

@AmethystMoonShine I don’t think mine would have been posted if I hadn’t chased it up last weekend🙀
