@ScottishMouse - the dress wears and washes beautifully- still looks really good after 20+ washes. Yes, I thought the trouser material would 'relax' a bit when washed - thanks for confirming.

@IlovePond - ha ha. No real risk -I get postage free and returns are easy. I already know the colour suits me and goes with a lot of my wardrobe. My boobs are a risk with the straps but at £30, I'd be happy to wear as a skirt - so it's worth a punt.

AFingerofFudge · 28/09/2025 18:28

I am away at the moment and will be for the next 3 weeks, so anything I order will not be able to be returned so a very cautious order for me. I ordered the raised stripe shirt in the green, the cotton wide leg jumpsuit in the soft black, both of which I had tried on in store and so knew they weren’t a risk. I did order the rib neck sleeveless tee in the wood lilac - I love the look of it and hope it fits. If it doesn’t, I will be selling it on the Facebook page!!

Stoic123 · 29/09/2025 12:55

Well @IlovePond - thank you. The Puck dress is a winner as a skirt - with a tee or thin jumper on top. The material is so soft, comfortable and flowy!

@ToastCosILoveIt the shirt arrived. It is not paper white. It’s not cream either. The jury is out on it at the moment. I will have to try it with a few things. The fit is good for me. I mostly want a shirt to layer so it may work ok. Just not an instant hit. I don’t think it’s particularly see through although a coloured bra doesn’t work withit. It’s good from the side I think.

I ordered the green striped sundress at £45. It’s too small for me , not generously sized , and is far too long.

Cotton linen dress in cream. I ordered 2 sizes on this as I knew the sale was ending so soon. Lovely semi fitted dress. The sort that might never really date.i kept the 12 to accommodate my bust. It’s long, 2/3 inches above my ankle bone but such a flattering fit . One review mentions the difficulty of shortening it, it has 4/5 rows of stitching around the hem. I may consider seeing how much it would be to replicate the hem if being shortened as it adds to the dress and radially wouldn’t want to lose it . It’s otherwise a very plain dress. Happy to wear on holiday as it is in the meantime.

Striped cotton tiered dress I loved the look of in store but seemed rather dull when I took it out of the package. Very long too. Too dear to keep at £115

Finally the navy checked shorts same as trousers I have. These are as expected and I most likely will keep as it’s tricky getting suitable shorts at a certain age. And they go with a fair few vests/tops.

faustina · 29/09/2025 14:06

@Stoic123 - that looks amazing as a skirt. If I spot one on Vinted I might try it like that too. So long as it has pockets. Does it have pockets?

My final sale buy arrived - the Kathe flat front trousers in dark pear, and I'm keeping them, plus the darted cotton twill trousers in russet, and the Reworn (but bn) dark navy cotton linen jumper which I don't actually need but it's very lovely. I might have to square things by putting my donegal knitwear navy one on Vinted

So I have two hopefully hard working autumn/winter pieces and a jumper I love but didn't really need. That's not bad for a Toast sale! Hope everyone else is just as happy

IlovePond · 29/09/2025 14:23

Oh my, @Stoic123 - the Puck dress looks so lovely on you and the jumper looks as if it was made to go with it.

I am so glad you like it!

OP posts:
Stoic123 · 29/09/2025 14:45

@faustina - it does indeed have pockets. Some returns might appear in the next sale.

@IlovePond - It works as a beach dress over swimsuit too - but will probably keep it as a skirt.

IlovePond · 29/09/2025 14:50

The Puck crinkle cotton is a great all-rounder dress. As you know, I like the orange one too, 😹 but your modelling has proved my suspicion that the Puck looks good all year round!

I am jealous you got it for £30. I was thrilled to have both for £60 each and couldn’t believe it when I saw it had gone down another 50%.

I am so glad you bought it!

I know - bargain price. I can't remember Toast direct going that low for a dress for many, many years (the JL raspberry dress did go to £19). I am tempted to pick up the other colour if it appears in Dec.

I expected the material to be stiffer (like the normal Crinkle Cotton Dresses) - but it's lovely and soft.

BankfieldForever · 29/09/2025 16:29

My first sale parcel arrived!

The Nasturtium dress is a keeper, it fits perfectly and the pattern is wild! I’m a bit concerned about how 1970’s it looks, having been a child in that decade…..

The cross back linen dress in my usual 14 is going back, the fabric is lovely - but the top half of it is too big and the cross back gapes in a way that would not be cured by sizing down. I have the long sleeve top in this fabric arriving on Wednesday, according to Royal Mail.

For all the effort they said last year that they’d put into resizing to bring the sizes into line with other brands I’m still finding them huge. I’m a kind of a broad shouldered pear and even though I’ve lost about a stone in the last few months I’m certainly not a 10 in any other brand. It makes it so hard to know what to order when you’d rather not have the money for multiple sizes tied up!

IlovePond · 29/09/2025 16:38

That’s a pretty pattern @BankfieldForever

@Stoic123 - textures are super important for me and the softness of the material is one of the reasons I like those dresses. I can’t believe I didn’t mention that when I was doing my sales pitch!

I know what you mean about the other crinkle garments. I have the olive skirt - I do like it but it’s stiff. I tried the dress in a sample sale but couldn’t bear the feeling of the fabric all over.

BankfieldForever · 29/09/2025 16:38

@Stoic123

I’m pocket averse! There are pockets in the Nasturtium dress that I’m going to take out. Its a very thin, fluid dress and the top of the pockets really spoil the line as it sits a bit low on me.

Stoic123 · 29/09/2025 16:51

@BankfieldForever - ha. I'm definitely pro pocket. The pockets in the crinkle dress/skirt are pretty hidden though - so easy to ignore/not use if not a fan.

I like the print.

CakeAndJazz · 29/09/2025 17:06

@Countmeout gosh I loved that cream dress when I saw it in store - just a very impractical colour for me but so simple and classic. It was sold out in my size towards the end of the sale, but might keep a look out for it in future sales again. How tall are you if you don’t mind sharing? I was thinking it might be too long on me…

@faustina sounds like you’ve had major trouser success! And I love my easy sweater in navy - definitely one of my most worn Toast styles.

BankfieldForever · 29/09/2025 17:11

Yes, better to have them than not.

I once had a rather voluminous dress (Cabbages and Roses) that I owned for seven years before I discovered it had pockets!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 29/09/2025 17:18

I bought the Freya macro gingham dress in Olive at full price a couple of weeks ago. I sized down to the 10 but it’s still very big, I’ve been hoping an 8 would appear but it’s now disappeared altogether off the site.
I could live with the 10 (I think) but I would really like to have tried the 8. Sizing on toast is really annoying, I waited for the 10 to come back in stock when I could have been trying the 8 all along.

I’ve got the black/ecru Macro gingham dress (I don’t know if its a Freya, it has a square nevk) from last year’s sale in a 14. It is a lot bigger than other Toast size 14’s that fit me fine. I’d say its a high street standard 18.

I’ve kept it for the fabric, which is gorgeous. Its so big I’m going to cut it up and make pyjamas.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 29/09/2025 18:00

@BankfieldForever It's so frustrating, I’ve got toast clothes in a wide range of sizes but I’ve never been an 8.

Popplebop · 29/09/2025 18:32

My sales items arrived and the only thing I am keeping is the crinkle dress in orange! Cotton poplin tie shirt was the most enormous top ever, Maze print dress that I love had a dodgy strap and was stitched oddly, green hemp jersey top was an odd thin material, and the fine linen tank was not quite right. So a cheap sale.

IlovePond · 29/09/2025 19:41

That orange dress is lovely @Popplebop I wore all the time last summer.

My first parcel arrived.

The Seren flat front trousers are perfect.
I went with the 12s , a tiny bit big on the waist but they are the perfect wide leg trousers , they are actually full length on me!
Lovely soft fabric, flat front, pockets
So glad I ordered 2 pairs in anticipation that I would love them .

Im baffled as to why these are in the sale but they passed me by-the photos are pretty meh and they look completely different to the trousers in the live which frankly looked awful, too short and way too small .

Just had a dispatch note for my other parcel with the jumpsuit that I don't need

IlovePond · 29/09/2025 19:51

My parcel still isn’t here.

Meanwhile, I am regretting not taking a chance on the trousers and jumpsuits I had in my basket last Thursday!

OftenOrange · 29/09/2025 21:17

Placed orders on day one and day two, so far unfulfilled.
As I’m away until 12 th it may work in my favour, but it does seem odd .

GBR1980 · 29/09/2025 21:20

Is the sale still on?

ToastCosILoveIt · 29/09/2025 22:12

@Countmeout , thank you for the update on the shirt, appreciated. The decision was taken out of my hands because when I went back in to look this am, the 12 had sold out. So, I just ordered the poplin embroidered blouse on the basis that if I don’t like it, postage and returns are covered so it hasn’t costm me anything. I have a similar silk embroidered blouse in cream from a couple of seasons ago and wonder if it will look significantly different.

Restrained for me, four sales purchase in total, not sure I will keep any of them until I try them on and ruthlessly determine how hard they can work in my wardrobe.

@GBR1980 , yes, the sale finished at midday today I believe as the September sale is always a flash weekend sale.
