Apologies, I’m struggling to upload a picture

@WowsermeI don’t have that coat but tried it on a few months ago it is lovely but the price was too high for me. This looks like the same coat on Vinted https://www.vinted.co.uk/items/7749514881-toast-100-wool-raglan-coat-m

I believe it’s last years and sold out before the sale.

Countmeout · 14/12/2025 10:53

Was last years not green?
That one may have carried over but I think it was 2 years ago? Or more. I loved the fabric but couldn’t justify the cost at the time. One popped up on Reworn recently.

ScottishMouse · 14/12/2025 16:37

I need help making a decision. I had decided to buy the Frankie waxed cotton coat and went to try sizes again today. While there I tried the navy wool coat too, which I had previously said no to as wool gives me moth fear. But it is lovely too. Which one??

I have a couple of other jackets that work for more casual wear, like running errands, or standing on the side of a sports field. But I would like something a little nicer that can be worn on the daily but also works for e.g. an evening out.

Both are pretty classic.
The waxed cotton will work for more of the year. I do have a spring/early autumn trench from Uniqlo, but I could definitely wear the waxed cotton even now.
The wool will be warmer in winter - but is proper winter ever going to show up….12 degrees here today in mid December 🤷‍♀️
Wool will need to be stored very carefully to avoid the dreaded moths, but waxed cotton also requires some maintenance considerations.
Navy is a more me colour, but the brown is a good shade.
I wear bags on my shoulder/across my body so need to consider if either will mark badly from that.

I know it is a delightful problem to have to have found two coats I love, but I am utterly useless at decisions (side question - is indecision a (per-)menopause thing? I have always been indecisive, but lately it has become crippling in all areas of my life.)

ScallopShellWalk · 14/12/2025 19:50

hi, I’ve fairly recently discovered toast and been loving all the posts.

@ScottishMouse I think both coats are lovely. I fairly recently bought the Frankie vibrant check wool coat in the edin shop. I also liked the brown wool tweed herringbone. I still like both but to decide on the day the lady assisting in the shop asked me which one spoke to me the most. Or words to that effect. I realised knew it was the checked one. I bought that one and I love every time I wear it. I hope to love wearing it for a long time. Maybe you could ask yourself a similar question? They are both lovely and you may always like both. Does one call you more than the other?

faustina · 14/12/2025 20:11

You might get more wear from the wool coat? but only so long as it doesn't stress you out too much worrying about moths. It's not cold now but we are entering Big Coat Season

PeonyBlush10 · 14/12/2025 22:40

Really hard to compare the two @ScottishMouse as they are both beautiful but fulfill different needs perhaps? I bought a wool coat as my previous one wasn’t very warm so this purchase was a priority and then the following year bought a trench coat as I couldn’t afford both at once. I love both and wear the wool coat over winter and the trench during transitional weather and summer on cooler days. Both are useful in different ways but it boiled down to which type of coat I needed the most from a practical point of view. Warmth or a layering piece ? I think trying both on and tuning into what feels best when on, as suggested by @ScallopShellWalk is also very helpful. If you immediately love one more than the other then that’s the one to go for.

Barbellaishere · 15/12/2025 11:16

Just delurking to say the canvas bags someone wanted are for sale in the Islington shop for £15 and maybe others

mizu · 15/12/2025 13:15

@Barbellaishere oh that was me! And I’m not in London unfortunately.

mizu · 15/12/2025 13:15

Perhaps I could call them.

ShanghaiDiva · 15/12/2025 14:17

Productive day at Kilver Court:
had seen the baya patch pocket shirt online, but didn’t look great on me- my hair is silver and I looked like a corpse
Did buy the indigo cotton shirt which I also plan to wear as a jacket and the chef stripe jersey tee which I thought might be too bulky, but isn’t.
Also bought the cashmere half sleeve in navy- gorgeously soft and love the shape.

IlovePond · 15/12/2025 14:23

Sounds like a lovely shopping trip @ShanghaiDiva

@Barbellaishere - thank you for the info. I am nowhere near Islington but l wonder if they are in other shops too.

As a matter of interest: If any of you have bought ‘over the phone’ from Toast, have they sent you a link or do you have to shout your cc details out to them?

Thanks

Hi, I have bought via shops and you have to read out your card details x

ToastCosILoveIt · 15/12/2025 14:32

I meant to say when I did an update on a Toast shop visit last week that I saw the patchwork knitted gilet in store and it was absolutely lovely. I didn’t buy it because I didn’t think I would wear it much, but so nice.

Thanks @ToastCosILoveIt - that’s good to know.

Maybe if you asked customer service they could find one in the warehouse and do it that way?

IlovePond · 15/12/2025 14:55

That’s a good idea @Countmeout

I suspect they had lots left over after the market because I wasn’t the only one who missed them, (they certainly weren’t clearly displayed, assuming they were there at all!) and so have popped them into one or two London branches to clear.

eep my partner is getting me the quilted barrel leg trousers for christmas! our house is freezing and I kind of hate putting on trousers whose fabric takes a lot of warming up, I am imagining living in these. Strangely the 'matching' quilted shirt is even more expensive than the trousers (or maybe that's not strange). I'm embracing elasticated waists (in anticipation for the coming months) and am not sure I'll ever want to go back!

have enjoyed reading the purchases and hums and haws over decisions... the raglan coat has a review on it where a person talks about how perfect it is for their life in vermont. I think toast should pay them for their review as it sells the coat very well hah.

I loved the idea of buying the mens waxed jacket. I actually saw a toast mac on vinted recently for a (imho) ridiculously low £80... it was two sizes up from my usual and in toast land thats more like three... but i sincerely regret not buying it and just wearing it big. I can't stop thinking about it hah. I screen shotted it, maybe someone recognises it from toast of old...

‘Order by 11pm on 18 December for Christmas delivery’. Fingers crossed that the sale starts soon after! A few other brands have already gone for it. I’m excited for the sale even though I think everything on my wishlist is too recent to make an appearance.

ScallopShellWalk · 16/12/2025 13:04

@OrangeyLemon

I’ve been looking forward to the sale but I’m going to have to restrain myself. There are many things I like, really like, but if I’m am honest with myself, I am unlikely to need or even wear them. Plus I do need to try things on and it’s a disappointment having lovely clothes arrive that don’t fit and I’m not great at sending things back. Maybe I’ll chance my luck in store in Edinburgh between Xmas and new year. Do the shops stock sale or is it only online?

AmethystMoonShine · 16/12/2025 13:13

Only online sadly @ScallopShellWalk at least for the past few years.

ScallopShellWalk · 16/12/2025 13:21

@AmethystMoonShine ah, thank you, that’s good to know.

Countmeout · 16/12/2025 16:02

Next day delivery is Monday 22nd so I think the sale possibly won’t be until then.

ShrankLastWinter · 16/12/2025 16:09

I’m trying that ‘try before you buy’ thing for the new dark red dress and the new dark blue dress with elasticated waist. Both have enthusiastic reviews but am not sure, suspect the latter could make me look like expensive sack of potatoes. Will update!
