Lots of new things on Reworn this evening ladies. I ordered the wax cotton poncho, which I don’t ever remember seeing. It’s not the Lavenham one from a couple of years ago I don’t think. Could be great or awful, but worth a punt. Does anyone have one?

Edited

It’s actually still showing on the website so they must have more than one. This one…

@ScottishMouse I saw that and thought it looked an excellent buy. Not much else I wanted on there-a couple of nice cardigans but they had gone when I clicked on them. I am still not convinced that all of it is donated!

ScottishMouse · 19/11/2025 20:31

I’m hoping so @mizu. Looks like it could be good at this time of year with lots of cost layers underneath.

mizu · 19/11/2025 20:34

@ScottishMouse I’m tempted by that other one now

ScottishMouse · 19/11/2025 20:38

The great thing about Reworn @mizu is that it’s simple to return if it’s no good, it’s not like buying on resale sites.

mizu · 19/11/2025 20:38

Bought! If it’s a success, it’ll be a LOT cheaper than my potential Canadian one!

IlovePond · 19/11/2025 22:37

I think most of it is not ‘donated’ as such @mizu The odd thing, yes, (although who would do this, I don’t know 🤷‍♀️), but I think most of it comes from elsewhere.

My money is on it coming from unswapped Circle stock, promo shoots, the odd thing left in the warehouse, maybe some ‘staff’ clothes, (but that wouldn’t generate much stock).

I wish Toast would donate all the money raised to charity.

@ScottishMouse have you looked at Soeur for coats? They’ve just started a sale.

The scarf really suits you. Looks great with your coat.

ScottishMouse · 20/11/2025 17:30

I haven’t @PeonyBlush10 but I will now! I actually just ordered two from Finisterre today to try, though one is more of a spring/autumn jacket.

IlovePond · 20/11/2025 17:31

Bit disappointed to find that my new Toast coat from the sample sale wasn’t really warm enough for standing outside in today 😿 It wasn’t cheap, either!

Plus it’s a dog hair magnet! I felt like it was bring your dog to work day, there was that much of him on my coat!

Has any one bought Toast alpaca ? Does it pill, keep its shape and is it soft ?

I now have the il Bisonte leather bag and it’s beautiful. I’ve been looking for a brown/chestnut bag for ages and as soon as I spotted this I knew it was the one I’ve been searching for.Slight ox blood hue which makes it a deeply rich colour - it goes with everything.

PeonyBlush10 · 20/11/2025 17:36

That’s so disappointing @IlovePond which coat is it ?

PeonyBlush10 · 20/11/2025 17:46

@ScottishMouse only a few items in the sale. They do have nice coats though. Tend to be an oversize fit.

IlovePond · 20/11/2025 18:53

@PeonyBlush10 it’s the very dark navy hooded one with buttons, (not toggles), that I think they called a duffle coat. From last year, I think, because I had been eyeing it up online but didn’t fancy paying £695, (or whatever daft price it was originally!)

I also discovered today that the arms aren’t full length, (which I hadn’t noticed when I hurriedly tried it on in the April sample sale). Sleeves on coats that aren’t full length are a particular dislike of mine 😼

That’s what happens at a sample sale when feeling rushed and flustered 🙀

It also doesn’t fit as well as I remember, (but I can hardly blame Toast for all the sweeties I have been eating since Easter 😿😹)

Oh well, I still like it and will make it work. I really can’t face another year of wearing the ghastly red quilted beast I had last winter to replace my favourite coat ever. (Still haven’t forgiven NotsoDDog for eating that!)

PeonyBlush10 · 20/11/2025 19:02

@IlovePond its a lovely coat and I remember the sorry tale of your other coat and the red quilted replacement !
It’s a beautiful coat- clever layering underneath should help keep you cosy and think of the shorter sleeves as a wonderful opportunity to show off longer length sleeves underneath in some of your beautiful knitwear or stripes - helps to break up the solid block of navy.

IlovePond · 20/11/2025 19:04

I shall give that a go @PeonyBlush10 - it is a nice coat!

faustina · 20/11/2025 19:29

@PeonyBlush10 - I have one of the striped alpaca jumpers, bought last year and it looks as good as it ever did - no pilling, and the shape is the same

@IlovePond - I also remember your dog/coat incident. Could you get some beautiful arm warmers and a thermal silk base layer? The arm warmers (or long gloves) peeping out would look really nice

PeonyBlush10 · 20/11/2025 19:41

@faustina thanks for your feedback. Good to know. I love the new alpaca jumpers but they are £££. I’d be cross if it starts to look shabby quickly.

I rang a shop for advice regarding the black velvet skirt and was also told the next drop will be 4 Dec.

Does anyone have the black velvet skirt and how does it hang/drape? Last year’s cord A line skirt looked terrible on me and I’m usually an A Line girl. The black skirt is the same
design but different fabric, so it might look different/better. The cord fabric bunched up around my middle and did me no favours. No point ordering the black one if it’s going to do the same.

IlovePond · 20/11/2025 20:18

Ooh @faustina - I fancy a pair of those arm warmers - I had actually forgotten about them- thanks for the reminder. Off to have a look…

@mizu did your poncho arrive? Mine just did but sadly will have to go back. There is just too much fabric and it doesn’t look great on me. I think it would look good on someone taller though. It is really fun and the fabric is lovely. Hopefully it’s a winner for you.

IlovePond · 22/11/2025 11:00

Morning all - wore the coat with my jacquard jumper yesterday and a Uniqlo base layer - much better. Currently waiting for my wrist warmers to arrive…

OP posts:
mizu · 22/11/2025 11:00

@ScottishMouse mine is not here until Monday. I am quite tall but fear it might be too much fabric for me too. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼

PeonyBlush10 · 22/11/2025 14:44

@IlovePond glad you have a solution to the coat issue !
@ScottishMouse and @mizu i love the poncho but how would you wear it? Does it look ok over a coat or too bulky? I think it would be too cold to wear it without a coat in winter months, so if it looks too bulky over a coat do you think it’s best worn inside only or during warmer transitional weather? Or am I over thinking this !!! I’m just not sure it’s as versatile as a jumper and at that price I would want to get plenty of wear from it.

ScottishMouse · 22/11/2025 15:18

@PeonyBlush10 i think you are maybe talking about the alpaca poncho? We were talking about a Reworn waxed cotton poncho. But I also have the alpaca poncho and LOVE it. For me, I can wear it over a light coat (with no hood), and I have worn it instead of a coat/jacket until the last week or so. I have also worn it at an event over a dress, and on summer evenings over a T-shirt. So for me it is more versatile than a jumper.
