Thanks @OftenOrange I do think it’s poor form from Toast. It even says on the packaging: May cause allergic reaction.

Smacks to me of something they have bought in error/overstocked and are just palming off on us.

I am actually quite annoyed- although I realise this is probably ridiculous, given it is a freebie!

I would complain to CS but won’t as I am sure it would result in my being ceremoniously struck out of Kindred!

Tbh, I will probably get kicked out next year, anyway as I haven’t bought much, especially as I couldn’t get to the sample sale this weekend 😿

On the plus side, my a/c looks lovely and I am looking forward to opening it!

Ohh thanks @IlovePond i ordered some long striped merino wool socks! Also did an obligatory “what’s the kindred gift” order! There was a shirt I wanted for dp’s Christmas anyway, a burn orangey lyocell shirt which was much nicer irl than expected, but even the men’s sizes can drown! Sorry about the allergy to the gift… why not another stellar item like the splatter bowl which perfectly matches my kitchen hehe.

on the kindred front, have any of you ever taken up a free workshop ticket? I’ve done a couple of them (though not live, just after the event from the recorded session) and they’ve been fun. Some better than others, but I have some paper vases with dried flowers in them from the result of two of the workshops. I actually got really into pressing flowers and leaves this year. I live by the sea and she said you can press seaweed, and had made beautiful weird wreathes from them, though I’m pretty sure it’d take a very long time for seaweed to dry!

There was a random EU sale last week. It was all old stuff (archive!) so not very exciting. They seem to be doing separate sales now.
id love to know what the gift is if anyone gets it!

I fell for it... Received the box this past Wednesday, but still haven't had time to try it on.

No gift for me, but the sent a Toast Magazine in the box...

I saw this scarf in person today and it would be a perfect gift for a family member / exactly their colour. It is really lovely, but is 23% recycled polyamide. How do we think that will wear in the longer term?

ScottishMouse · 18/11/2025 17:26

Speaking of polyamide, I also tried this on in Finisterre (while on a never ending search for a winter coat that is 1.waterproof or close to, 2. warm but not too warm (perimenopause), 3. vaguely stylish, 4. at least knee length - any suggestions folks??) and nearly bought it until I saw it was 20% recycled polyamide. I try to buy wool only knitwear but maybe synthetics have come some way since I was younger. I saw this one on Olivia Lewzey on instagram and it is a gorgeous shape. Should I be tempted, or step away?

IlovePond · 18/11/2025 17:36

That’s a nice jumper @ScottishMouse

I like the scarf too, but don’t think it looks like it should cost that much, (if that makes sense).

OftenOrange · 18/11/2025 18:25

The Kindred gift is a disappointment, I expected a lovely Winter Forest smell , but am getting very little smell of any kind , and at that just a whiff of a masculine shampoo!
Seriously I am normally delighted by these little offerings and don’t want to be ungrateful , but I think it’s one for the bin.

OftenOrange · 18/11/2025 18:26

@ScottishMouse The jumper does look great I must look at that Instagram , she does wear a lot of Toast too doesn’t she.

I think they did this scarf in orange last year. Does anyone have it, and did that one have polyamide in it?

Totally agree. I might keep it in the bathroom because there are boys in this house and it often smells less than delightful. It’s not worthy of spraying anywhere else imo.

faustina · 18/11/2025 18:38

I prefer the jumper the woman is wearing with the beautiful scarf but not enough to pay £315 for it and I'm not a fan of polo necks so the Finisterre one wouldn't work for me. The scarf is lovely!

CashmereCat · 18/11/2025 19:06

@ScottishMouse you could get a cashmere scarf for less , lots around many 20% ish off right now

Have had a nice run of luck on Vinted, including 2 pairs of pristine Toast mittens for £14 each and the Trailing Nasturtium dress, brand new for £30
The fit/ cut of this is just beautiful
My ThundersLove socks arrived promptly and are very nice.

Sounds like the Kindred gift is a damp squib

Im drooling at the red poncho , styledxwith thexwhite shirt and Annies but the price 😱
So nice to see such a lively vibrant colour amongst the sludgy ones.
Pondering knitting one

CashmereCat · 18/11/2025 19:07

Sorry about stray x
Need to find my glasses

Primrosespaw · 18/11/2025 19:18

My kindred gift was not included in my order this week. I don’t know if i should bother contacting CS though. Sounds disappointing.

ScottishMouse · 18/11/2025 19:56

I love a poloneck @faustina.
@CashmereCat yes, I probably could. But this is a gift and everything about that Toast one is perfect for the recipient - the colour, the texture, the fringing. Attaching a photo of it on me, it’s much nicer in person.

Autumn leaves, colder days and Toasty talk!
faustina · 18/11/2025 20:08

@ScottishMouse you've inspired me to get out my big wool/cashmere wrap scarf tomorrow - thank you! That looks great on you

ScottishMouse · 18/11/2025 20:10

I’m not really a bit scarf person @faustina, but it looked so good I might put a big scarf on my Christmas wishlist.

OftenOrange · 18/11/2025 21:31

@ScottishMouse The scarf looks fabulous , seems like you should get one yourself!

mizu · 18/11/2025 22:22

@ScottishMouse that scarf is one of my favourite colours!

I’m currently looking at this coat - pics attached. But from Canada……. tried on a lovely raincoat at the sample sale but it wasn’t quite right.

ScottishMouse · 18/11/2025 22:25

Oh I’ve seen that company mentioned before by Erica (ahistoryofarchitecture on instagram). Their things look great. I used to live in Canada many years ago, but haven’t been back for a long time. Maybe I should take a trip just for cost shopping 😆

IlovePond · 19/11/2025 00:51

It looks much nicer on you than in the Toast pic @ScottishMouse - nice texture irl!

OP posts:
IlovePond · 19/11/2025 01:00

The spray is awful -exactly the sort of fake piney smell that sets off an allergic reaction in me and can trigger my asthma.

It’s fair enough sending out a freebie that people might dislike, but one that can make them ill is not on. It even says on the box that it can cause an allergic reaction.

I do wonder if Toast cancelled a previous gift due to supply issues. This poor effort can’t possibly be the ‘really good gift’ the person in the Llandeillo shop told me was coming in September!

Lots of new things on Reworn this evening ladies. I ordered the wax cotton poncho, which I don’t ever remember seeing. It’s not the Lavenham one from a couple of years ago I don’t think. Could be great or awful, but worth a punt. Does anyone have one?
