I want the swishy trousers of the youth but what are they?

I’m usually very unfashionable but enjoying wide leg trousers being back in fashion. There’s a particular style of trousers I’ve seen a few younger women/girls wearing, of what looks sort of like tracksuit type trousers but very silky/flowy/swishy.. I don’t want to panic the local teens by asking where they get their clothes so can anyone here tell me what they might be?

Yes since I got some of the keywords right a lot of the promising results on Vinted are from Urban Outfitters. Unfortunately they’re all size 8 and I’m not so might have to visit an actual shop!

The sizes are small, but I am sure you will find your swishy trousers!

What is the link for these please.

https://m.shein.co.uk/SHEIN-LUNE-Plus-Paperbag-Waist-Knot-Front-Wide-Leg-Trousers-p-15272473.html

they are Shein but they are the only ones that fit me nice around the waist and leg. They wash nice and the material is lovely. I wear them for work and have had loads of compliments.

I braved Urban Outfitters and found exactly what I was looking for, spent more than I meant to on a colour I’m not sure of but discovered all their oversized clothes are so generous that even XS fits my at least M legs just fine so that’s useful for future Vinted shopping. (According to the girl at the till it’s actually men’s trousers I got but oh well)

Don't keep us all in suspense for much longer. 😁

SharpPoet · 21/09/2025 19:27

I recently dug my Maharishi’s out of the wardrobe for DD …
Was going to suggest Urban Outfitters so glad you went!

UO is deliberately gender neutral now, at least in the big cities, so don’t worry about what the assistant said.

This is a long shot but if you happen to be going to Spain soon, the latest Inditex offshoot (the company behind Zara, etc.) is called Lefties and has exactly what you’re looking for… I couldn’t believe my luck earlier this year, I got exactly what you describe for under €20 and have worn them pretty much non-stop since!

BitOutOfPractice · 21/09/2025 20:34

So are you going to show us what you got or not?!

I am going in a couple of weeks and did wonder if I would get some better trousers there, I used to buy loads of lovely stuff both in the shops and on the markets.
Is it a shop or online.
What kind of trousers did you get there?

So they have been identified! And they are just baggy cotton joggers 😆

wantmorenow · 21/09/2025 22:04

Is it just me that can't pass the verification test to access shein link? Lol. Am I too old and untrendy to look at their stuff? 🤣

No it wouldn't let me use it so I googled those trousers but they started at size 16, too big for me. I don't want baggy joggers either but wide legged floaty trousers. Palazzo ones

Charredtea · 22/09/2025 00:09

As the mother of a tres chic and willowy teen I knew the aforementioned swishy trews would be from uo.
such a lush shop, reminds me of my youth . And yes to the unisex , an Amazon delivery guy came the other day wearing my daughter’s dream pair of swishy bottoms.
i adore them but at five foot nothing none of them work for me unless urban have started doing petite stuff

Charredtea · 22/09/2025 00:18

Also the staff at urban are bloody lovely too. Slightly off topic but I’m shopping in a lot more ‘young’ venues atm due to holding the purse strings for teens and I am so impressed with the calibre of the youth working in many of the shops from primark to urban, to holister etc, I have not been this impressed by shop staff in years.
I remember quaking at make up counters when I was young and when I started to earn money, found many shop assistants to be rude, bored and sniffy.
big up the parents of today for helping create such an amazing generation of young people.
love them all , even the ones some of mn look down on

and thanks for coming to my ted talk of thread derailment

LancashireButterPie · 22/09/2025 09:35

My daughter buys them from Free People.

These look lovely. How long are they? I’m only 5‘2“. I’m guessing I’ll need to take them up? Are they smart casual for office appropriate? Thanks!

I'm 5ft 1 and have the cropped version which is pretty much full length on me, the normal ones were very long, but if you want them right down to the floor you might be better getting those and taking up.

CosmicScouser · 23/09/2025 08:46

Plisse pants?

SwishyLegs · 21/09/2025 21:51

ouch! £52 though....
I feel like I could get the same effect from XL joggers from Primark!LOL😂

I miss those baggy cargo style trousers from 15-20 yrs ago. Although I dont miss the waistlines on them (came nowhere near your waist, barely covered the front muffler!!)😄
