I want the swishy trousers of the youth but what are they?

I’m usually very unfashionable but enjoying wide leg trousers being back in fashion. There’s a particular style of trousers I’ve seen a few younger women/girls wearing, of what looks sort of like tracksuit type trousers but very silky/flowy/swishy.. I don’t want to panic the local teens by asking where they get their clothes so can anyone here tell me what they might be?

I think I know what you mean, my dc call them private school girl trousers (the sort of stylish but casual and comfortable trousers that are between joggers and pyjama trousers but look much nicer than both) which probably doesn't help you much!

I am just loving trousers at the moment. Elasticated or drawstring waists, wide legs, pockets... it's like they've finally thought about comfort and practicality. Hope it lasts!

I’ve been wanting to find some soft wide legged trousers too, but as I wear a size Short I assumed they’d all be too long on me. Do these type of trousers ever come in short lengths or am I doomed to have them dragging on the ground?

Look on h &m because they have a great selection of wide leg trousers. I think what your after is a yoga pant style but dressy.

I have these, I always get compliments in them even though I only bought them as WFH joggers! So comfy (fluffy inside) and flattering but I'm not sure if they will last that long. And they can get chilly around the ankles when WFH in the colder months

M&S do wide leg comfy trousers. They probably have swishy and satiny variants.

We have seen similar in sports shops but she didnt like the feel of them (shell suit material) but the ones on the link above are a lovely thick cotton style, really well made.

Ooh, YES this is the shape with the bottom of these toggled - in at the ankle but flowy enough over the top that it doesn’t look like they come right in there but also won’t drag through puddles too much. And dramatically billowy when moving around (I probably won’t move quite in the ways of that website’s videos..). The ones I saw were wider leg I think but the same kind of shape and movement. Shell suit material is probably what the ones I saw were made of, but your ones look nicer, shame black is sold out, not sure I could handle blue or keep white nice! You can’t remember which shops or brands had the shell suity version can you, if I can’t find any black of these?

@Summerhillsquare Stradivarius have various ‘flowing’ options that also look similar, think you’re right it’s hard to tell without trying on.

Thanks for all the other comments, think I checked every lead. Will work through again with Vinted open at some point, that was a good way to get a round up of trousers I like in various styles!

I think we saw the other ones in JD and from memory they had quite a few colors to choose from. They seem very popular amongst my daughters friends.

Got these from Uniqlo this week and they are lovely. Soft and swishy. Often out of stock, but if you sign up, you can be notified when they become available. Also - a total steal at £12 / £9

M&S, Next, and Karen Millen do a variation of lengths.
Tu at Sainsbury’s do too, and actually have some lovey looking wide length trousers in.
Uniqlo give you the option online to have alterations made.
