Is M&S really having a moment?

I keep seeing/hearing that M&S is having an amazing season, but I'm not getting it. Browsing the website I see nothing special. What am I missing? What have you bought recently which has really thrilled you?

Love their jeans.

sunshinechaser · 10/09/2025 09:46

I find it so hard to buy from M&S as they seem to never have size 8 or 10s in stock. Sorry that’s not much help!

Floisme · 10/09/2025 09:49

I walked round a decent size store (not my local one) last week and was pleasantly surprised and impressed by a lot of the new women's wear. If I'd had more time and cash, I'd have tried lots of things on.

hideawayforever · 10/09/2025 10:09

I've seen a lot of tik tok videos showing all the autumn clothes you can buy, it does look really good stuff.

This!

Lots of pieces are great, influencers are loving them. Check out social media for ideas on what they all love?

TheLeadbetterLife · 10/09/2025 10:28

I feel like we hear "M&S is having a moment" every year - I assume this is coming from their marketing department, and magazines / influencers are repeating it because they're grateful for anything to say.

A bit like how we're all champing at the bit every Autumn waiting for the John Lewis Christmas ad - or so we're told by every fucking media outlet obediently reproducing their press releases.

MsTamborineMan · 10/09/2025 10:30

I've seen lots of people in nice M&S clothes but not found them myself

applegingermint · 10/09/2025 10:30

Some of it looks nice, but zero natural fibres.

I’m not a cotton/wool/silk or die purist but knits that would have previously been merino are now 100% polyester, and of course more expensive than previously.

Floisme · 10/09/2025 10:34

I don't follow any influencers, I was just pleasantly surprised by what I saw.

I worked at M&S years ago as a student and this was a problem I was reporting to HQ back in 2007 on the back of customer feedback. Clearly they don’t listen!

TheBucketWomen · 10/09/2025 10:40

M&S is always having a moment if your over 45!

I've just bought a lovely burgundy 100% merino cardigan from M&S for £40. Soft enough to wear next to my skin too.

This !!!!

surely there is a happy medium between 100% cashmere and 100% recycled polyester

Imo M & S has been hitting high notes for a couple of years now. Quite often their jeans are recommended on MN. Click and Collect plus returns in food halls now resumed! What I find frustrating is that turn over is quick. Some items sell out in a flash and don’t reappear.

CanOfMangoTango · 10/09/2025 10:48

I don't believe it either, I think their marketing department have a budget for influencers and they are all over social media.

I am seeing a lot of it on socials and none of the items look anything special to me. A lot of the same shapes & styles that are all over the high street.

DeafLeppard · 10/09/2025 10:53

They've been consistently good for the past few years, IMO. Delivery and returns are seamless too.

I have just bought a great alpaca mix jumper (very Arket/Other Stories) and suedette skirt.

OneChicRoseRobin · 10/09/2025 10:53

Food? looks really nice

Criteria16 · 10/09/2025 11:24

Better than 5-10 years ago? Yes.
Amazing? At marketing, yes. My social medias are full of influencers saying how great their clothes are. I am not overwhelmed, and less so when I go in their stores. Also, often I can't buy as I am a size 8 and it's so very rare there is one single item in my size!

Wow nice comment. So ageist . Of course all the under 45s walk around looking incredibly stylish

Get over yourself. I’m over 45 and wear M&S!

Love their jeans.

I tried a load of jeans on last week in one of their stores. I found the sizing to be all over the place. I tried some boyfriends in a size 8 in one wash and a size 10 in the other. The 10 fitted but I wanted the other wash - none in stock.

Tried on some barrel jeans. No size 8's in stock other than a short fit. The 10 were enormous. Went online later to order - the boyfriends in the lighter wash in a 10 were sold out as were the barrels in an 8. I despair of their sizing - in store it seems to be sizes 6 then 20, 22 with little inbetween or the inbetween sizes are either short or long, no standard length. It's been like that for donkeys years though to be fair.

I find their black jeans are always tighter than the blue ones, even if they're the same jeans, but I give them a pass because they're the only place that makes decent jeans that will actually fit my short arse.

CaffeinatedSeagull · 10/09/2025 13:05

The men’s and children’s sections have definitely improved too. It just feels a lot more on trend then it did a few years ago,

HarperStern · 10/09/2025 13:10

I won't buy jeans/trousers anywhere else and their newest Autograph collection is lovely. The higher prices for inferior fabrics is happening everywhere.
