Annual Style and Beauty Advent Calendar discussion thread. First AC reveal this year was 23rd June. First luxury reveal was 2nd July.

Thread 1: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5360770-2025-style-and-beauty-advent-calendar-discussion

Thread 2: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5388836-2025-style-and-beauty-advent-calendar-discussion-spoilers-thread-2

Thread 3: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5396898-2025-style-and-beauty-advent-calendar-discussion-spoilers-thread-3

The regulars on the thread mainly discuss luxury BAC and this dies down by September when everyone has purchased and forgotten the contents. Then it goes into discussion on what’s selling out, what hasn’t and what deals and discounts to be had on ACs in the lead up to December. Then in December we move onto AC opening threads!

There’s a separate thread for GWP, discounts and other deals here: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5389635-beauty-chat-freebiesgifts-with-purchaseoffers-thread-four

A thread for the Liberty Beauty Drop here: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5253698-liberty-beauty-drop-spoiler-from-the-despatch-date-part-9

MN has a great Christmas board for deals and early gift buying here: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas

Yes same for me. I hope they just make an exception and forward them on but that’s maybe wishful thinking. There’s so much in that calendar that I want that it’s def worth it for me I’m wondering if I could maybe get it sent to relations in Scotland and get them to forward it on if all else fails..

Anyone who received their harrods calendar is there anything identifiable on the box that I would need to fess up to relatives what it is I’m causing all the fuss over if I need to get them to forward it to me? Xx

My sister lives in Europe, and if they still don’t ship to NI I am seriously considering sending frag calendar to her address next year, although €25 is a bit steep, but desperate times call for expensive postage 🤦🏻‍♀️

OvaHere · 06/09/2025 19:44

@IlovePond at the moment I am not buying GB. If they don't sell out fast they might send out a further reduced offer then I'll reconsider.

If you don't like VP I'm certain you'll be able to sell it on and recoup most of the cost.

I'm not buying ASOS straight away but if they do the discount in a week or two like they did last year I might get it. Depending on the discount of course - the mystery discount thing they did last year meant some people got really good discounts and others not so much.

I got it for £76 last year with the discount. A poster on tiktok has managed to get this years for £78 with a code but they haven't shared it. it's one of those where I am happy to wait and see and if it sells out, then fair enough.

Yes that's where I am with it. I quite like it but not desperate for it and certainly don't need it. They were a bit shoddy last year with damaged packaging, damaged and leaked products. You can't get anywhere with their chatbots if you want to complain either. I noticed in the Eltoria unboxing her box was slightly damaged and that was PR!

It's very much in the 'if it's cheap enough' camp.

Fenwick has been in my top 3 for a few weeks. As it's a late release a lot depends on whether I pass on SNK and JL and whether it stacks with the GWP like previous years.

Fenwick has been top of my list for weeks too and I feel like I've not stopped mentioning it and the Neals Yard frankincense cream in it. Obviously also possible GWP worth extra £££. I also just love Fenwick as I've shopped there since I was a child (and Fenwick window here is an institution!) They had better not let me down.

IlovePond · 06/09/2025 19:57

I was quite excited at the prospect of the Sukoshi calendar until I found out that they are not shipping until November and strongly hint in their website that it won’t arrive by 1/12, (unless you live in Canada, apparently!)

They also estimate 20% on top in customs/taxes for the UK, so another £30 on top basically.

That’s a real shame as it looks great!

Has anyone on here bought from Sukoshi before?

Thanks

IlovePond · 05/09/2025 13:54

Thanks @lunar1 @BakeOffRewatch and @2025istheyeari

I am still thinking about the Yepoda, but in the meantime I think I will buy one of the MZ eye creams currently on eBay!

Hi.
Can anyone remember the other day someone posted about a cashback site that had Ebay as a like vip . Can't remember the word but you got £5 for 2 purchases from Ebay. May have been on the other beauty edits page. I signed up but can't remember what the site was called! 😲🤣

IlovePond · 06/09/2025 20:04

Ah, Sukoshi is a Canadian company that specialises in K-beauty - hence the shipping time is fine for any Canadians reading this!

Explains why I hadn't heard of them before.

BakeOffRewatch · 06/09/2025 20:34

My JL account is used for kids clothes, kids gifts, wrapping paper and baby equipment so my rewards and notifications match that. I get vouchers for my kids birthdays! I don’t really think of them for beauty.

Ah, thanks @BakeOffRewatch - let’s see what he comes up with this year!

@Doubleraspberry - that’s so kind of you, but don’t do it specially for me. If you are doing it anyway, then I’d be interested to hear your thoughts!

@OvaHere - the trouble is, I don’t know if I will like the Vanilla Powder 😹I just bought it in a moment of madness yesterday !

I see you’ve already decided against! To me it has a very similar smell to Penhaligons’ Halfeti, which is probably very off beam, but it’s a similar harshness to me. So weird how differently we all perceive smell as I can how far adrift that is from other people’s views!

I listed it on vinted for £20 and it sold within hours. I love it but already have full bottle.

Hicupping · 05/09/2025 16:55

Ebay really needs to get a grip on fakes. Gisou and lots of K18 fakes.

Thanks for this. I've been looking for gisou on vinted but havw not been on Ebay for ages. Had a quick look earlier and just don't know where to start.
Vinted, people selling empty boxes of products. 🙄
I don't get it but maybe that's just me 🤣🤩

nearly61 · 06/09/2025 20:40

@Doglover73 Hi that site was voucher codes. I've not used them before but signed up when I read the other poster's recommendation about them. They seemed very positive so I'm hoping it's a good site.

Doglover73 · 06/09/2025 20:44

Theresalotgoingon · 05/09/2025 17:49

I am watching a few Gisou lip oils on Vinted I never thought about them being fake! I presume the ones at £7 are fake?

I suppose it depends. If I'm selling from edits etc I go a bit over the fp as posted on Facebook selling pages so I don't lose anything. The Facebook price for the oil I believe is £5 something so if I had it I'd probably list at £8. So price isn't always the only indicator.
As someone's mentioned before look at other things theg are selling to see if they have other bits from the advent. Not always 100% but 🥰

I don't buy much Beauty from JL, although I did buy a Dior couture Palette and a very spendy YSL fragrance last Christmas. I was impressed when I got money off fragrance and beauty with no minimum spend for the first three months of this year. Oh, I've just remembered, I also bought a load of Clarins stuff last December, too. I obviously spend much more than I realise.

SoloCat · 06/09/2025 21:16

Good luck @namechange0998776554799000 🥰

AlPaccacino · 06/09/2025 21:26

IlovePond · 06/09/2025 12:19

@OvaHere - JL is in the category for me of ‘it’s ok, but too expensive for what is!’ I do like eye creams, though.

If I knew what the Commodity Milk perfume smelt like, that would probably swing GB for me either way. I love perfume, so if it was nice, that would convince me to buy!

Sadly, I am still reeling from the horror that was the Creed sample from Harrods. I tried it on DH yesterday who said it made him ill, (a bit over dramatic and he’s still going on about it today!) and oldest adult DS who said it smelled of mould and damp wood. Bizarrely, he summed it up perfectly.

I should not have bought that Vanilla Powder stuff yesterday 🙀 so I don’t want to make a mistake with the Commodity in the GBox.

Does anyone know where I could get access to a tester?

Thanks

You can buy a discovery set from commodity. They have some lovely scents. My favourite is Book. https://commodityfragrances.co.uk/collections/discovery-sets/products/milk-scent-space-kit Or I can send you a referral to save15%

I just checked my rewards. I didn't get that. I never seem to get good JL rewards. Probably because I don't buy enough with them. Maybe if I get the BAC that will change next year.

Just checked and I have £15 off 160. No exclusion for beauty

IlovePond · 06/09/2025 21:36

Thankyou very much for the offer @AlPaccacino - but I wouldn’t ever pay for samples. Next time I am anywhere near a Sephora stockist I will try to pop in to smell it!

IlovePond · 06/09/2025 21:39

JL just keep offering me £5 off holiday money, (which is of no use to me, currently). Bizarrely the only ‘offer’ I have had from Sparks for over a year is also travel money related and even worse!

JL have sent me a free cake voucher, though.

Thisisforty · 06/09/2025 22:00

@namechange0998776554799000 Good luck x

Addictedtobeauty · 06/09/2025 22:30

I’ve also got the JL £15 off £160 reward but it is valid until 30/9 and the advent comes out on 30/9- I suspect the until means it will expire on 29th.

@namechange0998776554799000 i hope you get good news.

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 06/09/2025 22:45

Puravida23 · 06/09/2025 19:17

@ChildrenOfTheQuorn it's on the waitlist the idea is you share the link to all your social media and you go on a leaderboard with 3 top prizes for the people with the most shares. I think I am at position 111823 so not hopeful of winning

Ah thanks for the info. I absolutely cba with that 🤣
