I’m in the market for a new handbag, I can no longer afford anything too luxurious but equally I’d like a nice, decent quality bag.

I can’t decide on what I want so show me yours! 🫶

I prefer a cross-body bag for everyday use and I'm on the second of these. The first lasted several years. Three zipped compartments keep everything safe. No gimmicks, works summer and winter.

Same! I could do with it being a tiny bit bigger to fit my iPad but it’s great otherwise.

Kipling bags. Virtually indestructible

and so light too, means that you can stuff it with things and it won't be too hefty to cart around. I take the monkeys off though as I think they ruin the look.

TK Maxx is my go to for decent quality, affordable bags. If you have the patience to rummage there are some amazing bargains and there are always a fair few in leather that don't cost much more than the synthetics e.g. Rowallen. I like seeing how a bag looks and feels before buying.

I was in the local T K Maxx the other day and they had organised the bag section by colour and given it a really good tidy up. There was an almost overwhelming amount of choice. I didn't buy anything but had nice time browing, there were some gorgeous bags there.

I have the Uniqlo cross body as well and it's great, I've used it though multiple summers, day trips, holidays. But it's simply too scruffy for work.

I've got a grey leather equivalent from AllSaints which is lovely, but I'm looking for a replacement as it's a couple of years old and looking a bit tatty. It's not unlike the leather cross body from John Lewis that a PP linked to.

I have a Le Pliage as well but my teen DD and all her friends are into these now.

I like Aspinal for a mid price point as well, is that too ££ OP?

I have a couple of Fatface leather crossbody bags bought in the sale for about £40 each

Fatface leather bags are really good quality. I have a leather fringed one which I use all the time and still looks fabulous 18 months later.

I also really rate River Island leather bags. Just got a brand new with tags silver and black one from Vinted for a £6. Was originally £55 new. It's really lovely. I have a few favourited on Vinted as you seem to get brand new or very new really great leather bags for around a tenner. Worth having a nose around all the usual brands and then seeing what you can get on there.

TK Maxx is another favourite bag haunt. I've has some lovely bags from there.

And I agree on you with the zips... I need a bag to be London packed train commuter safe - got my purse stolen from a bag with a single middle magnetic fastening and have only ever bought one of those since - and that's my holiday bag that also has a drawstring top! It has never been brought out for crowded travel.

I have been using a Mango real leather half moon crossbody bag daily for about 2 years now. Still looks good as new. It looks small but holds a small purse, phone, keys, tissues, lip balm and fold up shopping bag all comfortably.

I like non-flashy high quality Aspinal and Smythson bags second hand from Vinted

SanFairyAnnie · 05/09/2025 18:00

Rowallan leather backpack from TK Maxx but the Handbag company often have them discounted.

I use the free cloth bag my duvet cover set came in.

I’ve used the cloth bag mine came in (appletree bedding, £30ish, nowt fancy but fancier than my usual George bedding) for a toiletry bag when I went camping a few weeks ago and so many campers asked me where it was from that if I’d have had an affiliate link I’d have been quids in 🤣

Trundlebugglet · 06/09/2025 15:14

I like my longchamp, i know its not inexpensive exactly but for what it is and how long it lasts its really good

loonyloo · 06/09/2025 19:47

If you like tan leather, have a look on Vinted for The Bridge bags. They are really well-made and age beautifully. They are quite pricey brand new but there are some bargains on Vinted

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/09/2025 23:52

Roka Willesden ( sling ) and Trafalgar (Tote) pretty indestructible

Sooooo can you help me find the Holy Grail that is a hoodie with zipped pockets ?
Not a jacket , not a kangaroo pocket and with a hood .
My DS has a couple (M&S and Amazon) but I cannot find any new ones that have the three vital components .
DS won;t use a ManBag ,(he has a rucksack for work)

TIA

Trundlebugglet · 07/09/2025 00:13

cavalier · 13/10/2025 10:21

PeonyPatch · 13/10/2025 13:32
