I’m in the market for a new handbag, I can no longer afford anything too luxurious but equally I’d like a nice, decent quality bag.

I can’t decide on what I want so show me yours! 🫶

Uniqlo corduroy sling bag here. I bought it as a stopgap when my last leather bag broke, and I love it. It’s really comfy to wear and light, I can wash it and can squeeze a surprising amount into it. I never want to go back to a heavy leather bag, and definitely not a shoulder bag.

I do love the look of the plaited leather bags like the Scott Samuel one linked above but can’t imagine carrying it round all day. (I walk everywhere).

Same. I love mine and won't go back!

I bought a couple of Osprey messenger style bags from TK Maxx 2 or 3 years ago. One of them is a bit like the Uniqlo bag - but looks a bit smarter. The other one is smaller and more rectangular. The straps are interchangeable. They've been very useful.

Nearly all my bags (yes, I've got too many - and not enough) are Osprey. This is mainly because they're so resilient, they never get worn out enough to retire them!

There are several Ospreys: the firm of leather goods fame is Osprey London. They're around £150 upwards full price, but always have outlet offers and I've got very good ones from Vinted and Ebay for £40 - £80.

I have a leather crossbody from Fat Face it's over 8 years old but I've not found anything i like to replace it. And their bags have gone really frumpy and boring since Next took them over.

I also use a large leather tote.

CoffeeLipstickKeys · 03/09/2025 06:41

Fat face tote is a solid workhorse of a bag

Radley every time

Mine were about £30ish if I remember right, new from TK Maxx, which usually has a lot of their stuff. However, they are mostly not leather, but with a trim that might be leather.

TK Maxx is my go to for decent quality, affordable bags. If you have the patience to rummage there are some amazing bargains and there are always a fair few in leather that don't cost much more than the synthetics e.g. Rowallen. I like seeing how a bag looks and feels before buying.

I got the Uniqlo bag linked. It’s nothing special a very strange brown colour and it just looks cheap and that it will need washing every five minutes. I guess you get what you pay for😀

Unusual items on Parfois 😅

Oh my god, can you imagine how long it must take to put them on!!

I have the Uniqlo bag, in several colours

I have the black quilted one, at least I think it’s from there

CloseBlueGreen · 03/09/2025 11:59

Also just bought a mini ruck sack in the flower pattern online from Mai Tui , rather like it.

endofthecorridoor · 03/09/2025 12:02

I’ve been using one from mint velvet beige suede with tassels about £190 if I recall and it is consistently admired. Looks great with everything I love it. But I’m not that bothered about handbag brands.

twilightcafe · 03/09/2025 14:27

Loewe Puzzle 'homage' (£2,175 cheaper) jazzed up with a different strap and bag charms.

Oh I’ve just bought that for my friends 40th thanks. How’s the quality?

Howyoualldoworkme · 03/09/2025 15:02

I've got about 20 Radley bags and now I want that one!!

Sassylovesbooks · 03/09/2025 16:47

For an everyday bag, I love Kipling bags. Lots of compartments, plenty of room and they look stylish.

Me too but it didn’t look good enough for some of the places I go to so bought what can only be described as the John Lewis leather dupe in the sale for £39. It’s wonderful. Fits everything and still small and light.

Uniqlo bag as well.
Which is quite an improvement from my collection of totebags.

albalass · 03/09/2025 19:55

I have a few bags but always seem to end up using the same two day to day - a Fossil cross-body key per one (wore out my first one after 10 years, got new one on Vinted) and a round Roka cross-body that is the perfect size for me.

Egghead68 · 04/09/2025 17:56

Another vote for the Uniqlo cross body bag

Whatwouldnanado · 04/09/2025 19:26

Jules darkish tan leather slouchy job with a zip and inside pockets from EBay. Bomb proof, room for a jacket water bottle and a bit of shopping.
