Camilla always looks good in pastel colours. I think they suit her better than the royal blues/reds etc.

Yes, she looks good in white and pastels.

I think the Vladimir is being ‘rested’ as it’s quite heavily associated with Elizabeth. I think when Kate is Queen it will be one of her go to tiaras.

I agree but it’s one of my favourites. I like the idea of new sapphire droppers to make it slightly different.

Is the gent with Kemi her husband? Or her walk into dinner partner? Hes quite dashing!

That's Hamish, her husband and father of her children (if you are referring to the X photo).

BBC have some more pics of the Queen and the First Lady in the Windsor library (scroll down) and also decent pics of Lady Starmer at Chequers. I'm sure someone will know where her dress is from.

Yes X. I think he definitely looks like a Hamish. A Scottish cousin on Downton Abbey look.

Tan suits are all the rage this morning. This one should have stayed in the back of the wardrobe I think.

See, I like that jacket. But the blouse (?) underneath doesn’t go and I think a contrasting skirt instead of being matchy.

I would love to see those miniature books Camilla is showing Melania. Victoria Starmer looks good in that green dress, nice change from her usual red.

Oh dear. I applaud her re-wearing so much, but there is a limit.
I have heard that brown is this season's colour.

I know you are not a fan of brown@Maireasbut I really think it depends how you wear it. It’s hard to banish the mental images of brown crimplene but the new iterations of brown in leather and wool are really very wearable and flattering. Having said that, you need to be careful of the shade and I think that both Melania and the Princess Royal may have strayed slightly in to poo territory as opposed to luxury chocolate 😆

WeightLossGoal2024 · 18/09/2025 12:15

Why does Kate’s sash go the opposite direction to that of Charles, Camilla & William? Is it something to do with status?

I was lucky enough to see the dolls house close up in when it was exhibited at the castle; not allowed to touch it obviously! I would have loved to poke about in it 😁

Too true about my antipathy to brown! I am scarred by a 1970s adolescence, and all things brown. It was certainly dominant.
I can see that a good chocolate colour would look good. However, that and grey remain on my "no" list!

I agree with @Maireas that double leather is a bit much, but at the same time I believe even formal fashion should have room for daring choices and a certain amount of experimentation and it's very chic for so much leather. The cut is well chosen for the ‘material’, the fit is perfect and Melania looks confident and totally at ease in it (always key). I'm giving it two thumbs up on her (unless it squeaks) - but I don't think many women would look as good in it as she does.

Check out the close-ups: the finishing is superb, with the neat pinking at the edges.

My brown phobia is thanks to my secondary school uniform of brown. The double whammy of it being hideous and attracting bullying from all the other local schools. I was back in my hometown a few months ago and saw a couple of kids in the uniform which doesn't appear to have changed in 40 years and it made me flinch!

Edited

Melania's outfit, is good I think. Brown jacket, yes, but with stone coloured trousers -ok.
Kate? Brown skirt! No! Also, I don't like those blouses with the large bow a la Thatcher.
On the plus side, they're both obviously enjoying the outing.

Oh dear. That's not great. At least my uniform was bottle green, a shade I've only recently come to terms with.

It’s a scarf from Sudbury Mill in Suffolk where she visited a few weeks ago. I thought she was wearing culottes at first and was thinking “oh no she’s gone too literal again” so am rather relieved it’s a skirt 🤣

I think you wear your highest honour from the visiting country at a state banquet. As the US has no honours they are wearing their highest UK honour. The King, Queen and William are wearing the Royal Garter Order and Kate is wearing the Royal Victorian Order. For some reason they are not worn in the same direction - probably to do with knights on horses needing a free arm for fighting or something! Eventually she will get the Royal Garter Order so they all match.

It's a scarf? Ok, I retract my horror. Plus culottes aren't quite as bad

Catherine is dressed a little more formally than I had expected. I am wondering if the scarf is because its a bit nippier than she expected it to be. Catherine, Melania and all the little Squirrels look happy in the pictures. I wonder if Melania gets the opportunity for little 'gigs' like that one when she is in USA.
