I thought Alexia looked great and her lack of hat once again makes me think she's the family rebel!

eggandonion · 16/09/2025 22:41

I'm scared Melania will trip over her coat. I'm hoping for a lot of fabulousness for a couple of days.

KiIIingMeDeftly · 16/09/2025 22:59

I pity the royals for the next couple of days. I saw that Camilla couldn't attend the DoK's funeral as she wasn't well and if I was her I'd milk it a bit longer!

Alexia has some sort of hair decoration but from the front it can barely be seen and it isn’t a hat or fascinator. It was quite breezy outside so none of the dresses hung well. Max’s dress was apparently from 14 years ago.

Ariane wore a Victoria Beckham dress.

This morning I was reading the paper, the news on in the background heard the news man say Queen Camilla blah ... Is ill with acute cystitis. My head shot up, first thought was that's a bit of over sharing. Wasn't until lunchtime I heard correctly sinusitis 🙈😂😂

I was thinking exactly the same!

The older generation of royals won't be around much longer. I think the Duke of Kent turns 90 in a few weeks.

But I could have done without pictures of Andrew gurning, grinning and sticking his tongue out in the background. I looked like he deliberately stood behind Charles and William to maximise his coverage.

I liked Kate's rewear - she does funeral chic very well. Anne looked effortlessly elegant and I liked Sophie's dress although not the ribbon bows on her shoes.

Oh and while we are discussing hair - I think that Fergie should lay off the bright carrot 🥕 hair colour as I think it ages her.

My nan had red hair which she dyed, it always had a touch of Rita from Corrie about it! I have gone for the fade to grey strawberry blonde.

I thought the same about the pervert, lurking about behind the King and William, so he was always on camera. Horrid man.

Apart from that the while funeral looked simple and elegant. Such a sad day for them all.

I'm powerfully curious about what they'll do for the floral decorations at the banquet, after the King opted for homegrown, British native flowers for the French visit. Whilst it's perfectly possible to have British native annuals in flower at this time of year it is a very good time for N. American species, so if HM wanted to attempt some floral diplomacy he could put on a magnificent, strikingly colourful display - and given a bit of planning the flowers could still be sourced from royal properties (yes, I'm enough of a botanical nerd that I actually contemplated the logistics...)

On the fashion front I wonder if we'll see deeper shades of blue to steer away from ‘Democrat blue’? Camilla would look great in a sapphire blue version of the kind of floor-length dress-coat (no idea these are called) outer layer she wore for her wedding, with gold embroidery, -assuming she is well enough to attend. Lady Starmer seems to like red; Mrs Trump in white - or possibly red, so that the Princess of Wales can have a change of colour?

Choux · 17/09/2025 10:34

I am thinking Kate and Camilla both in white. Kate could rewear one of these as they are very regal with the cape and a bit blingy. They can’t really just repeat the red white and blue co ordination like they did at the French one so will go all white.

And the Cambridge Lovers Knot tiara to echo Diana as Trump would love to see that tiara.

I adored that dress in the second photo @Choux I’d happily see that again.

Sidebeforeself · 17/09/2025 10:58

@Cassiope Maybe purple for Kate? I think it suits her and is appropriately regal for a state banquet

limetrees32 · 17/09/2025 11:54

I hadn't realised quite how long Catherine's hair was .
I agree ,it must give a lot of versatility.

Cassiope · 17/09/2025 12:07

@Sidebeforeself I like your thinking! If red-white-blue colour coordination isn't going to be a thing, then I'll happily vote for Brits in blues and purples – both colours that are enhanced by rich A/W fabrics like velvet, satin, silk taffeta.

IDareSay · 17/09/2025 12:13

I'm watching the live feed on the Telegraph for the President's visit. Camilla in a lovely shade of what I would call Royal Blue. Only caught a glimpse between the car and the door, it's quite windy and gloomy in Windsor.

Choux · 17/09/2025 12:21

Maybe all the royals will wear shades of blue today to avoid wearing red…

edited: nope, Kate is in burgundy. Not sure yet if it’s new or a repeat.

IDareSay · 17/09/2025 12:22

Kate in deep red/burgundy, with hair down. Melania in black with burgundy hat. Both wearing stiletto courts, quite a skill to walk across grass elegantly in those but they both manage it.

King and Queen, Prince and Princess of Wales, President and First Lady all now getting into carriages. I used to live in Windsor, always enjoyed these events.
I expect some of you are watching on TV, I don't have a licence so relying on Telegraph.

eggandonion · 17/09/2025 12:36

Melanie likes a very big hat! I hope her husband behaves himself!
William and Kate are tall which looks good beside the Trumps. I sound like my mil looking at wedding photos.

Sidebeforeself · 17/09/2025 12:38

Oh no..first photos of Kate greeting DT and she’s gone for the Call The Midwife look again

Maireas · 17/09/2025 12:42

She hasn't gone "Call the Midwife".
She's wearing a wine coloured outfit and hat.
I think she looks lovely.

I think Melania looks very chic. Nicely tailored outfit.

I think the ladies all look fabulous 🥰 Fair play to Camilla for turning up… sinusitis is horrendous!!

Sidebeforeself · 17/09/2025 12:53

By ‘Call The Midwife” I dont mean she looks like a midwife! It’s just those long line coats and little hats always remind me of war time era

Maireas · 17/09/2025 12:55

Oh, I thought that series was in the 1960s?
Perhaps I'm thinking of something else. Not wartime.
I like the colour and style.

OP posts:
Sidebeforeself · 17/09/2025 12:58

I dont know when the books series actually started but thats what it always reminds me of. However, she does look beautiful today and the colour really suits her. Does this mean no shade of red then for this evening?

smilesy · 17/09/2025 13:02

I think a longer coat and dress are a good idea on such a miserable and quite windy day. I agree all the ladies look very elegant although I think Melania’s hat is a little too large and I wish she would smile a bit more. The men have scrubbed up well too. I think Charles and Catherine both look quite well and Camilla is doing a sterling job with sinusitis
