And continuing on the Japanese Royal Family, here is Prince Hisahito coming of age ceremony pictures. I think it is a real shame that the Royal family are in weird conservative formal dress and not in kimonos. If Prince Hisahito is in amazing historic Japanese dress then why are the rest of the Royal family not taking the opportunity to wear some spectacular traditional dress. If not suitable at this occasion then when!

It's strange to see a coffin with the Royal Standard arrive at an RC Cathedral. The first Royal funeral with a Catholic liturgy for 500 years.
Westminster Cathedral is an amazing church.

Last Helen looks v stylish , but her face is “smiling with sorrow”. Reminds me of how I felt when supporting my Dad when we lost Mm. It must be so hard to do that when you know the photographers are on you

Love this photo from Lady Helen’s wedding in 1992. They must surely have co-ordinated colour choices and naughty Liz thinking ‘well I’m going to upstage the bride anyway so I might as well go the whole hog and wear white!’

The Duchess of Kent looks so elegant.

Here’s the Duchess of Kent and Kate in the same Erdem dress. The DoK wore it to Harry’s wedding and paired it with trainers. Kate wore it the following year to the Chelsea Flower Show and added the marmite espadrilles.

Sadly, all of the elder Kent’s are now showing their age. It’s like with my own family you start to realise your generation is now becoming the “eldest generation”.

I was thinking about past Christmas lunches when we were first married. The relatives who are no longer with us the other day. The table was full, then shrank. With marriages and grandchildren the table is full again.

In the official photos, QEII's outfit is a pale lemon yellow. I think those pictures are maybe a bit washed out.

Yes, I remember that was generally the consensus on here! I think the DoK is wearing it better, maybe it's the trainers.

I agree the late DoK wore this rather dubious dress better with the trainers (although I am not averse to espadrilles), but I’m not sure about the strange folded napkin affair on her head 🤔

Yes, it seemed to be a lovely tribute and everyone looked very elegant.
