Maxima - Not great style wise. A rare fail.

Yes, she usually pulls it together with such verve, I'm not sure what's gone wrong there.

Maxima seems to have mislaid her waist! I don't like anything about that outfit.

I like to keep track of smart shirt/top options to wear with a suit, so I had a look for closer views of Victoria’s blouse. I like this and it offers a more business-like vibe than the frilly-fronted shirt Kate's worn a couple of times - and which I also think looks very good indeed. Just for fun, here's Victoria moving in assertively for what I assume was a formal embrace with her Norwegian counterpart.

She seems to be in a cape, tights and hat mood at the moment. Here is Max from a few days ago. I don't think this works either.

Yes, perhaps the dress without the cape bit? It's a lovely bright colour and she carries it off.

Max looks very 60s in that pink outfit. Not sure about the white and black one, she is very overdressed compared to everyone else but she is the Queen so that's allowed 😉

If anyone can overdress, it's Max! 😊

Catching up and thought I'd add that when I was a school in the eighties we were all a bit goth leaning and the trend was to wear skirts as long as possible. Used to buy elasticated waist jersey skirts and wear them low on our hips under our jumpers/ blazers so that they skimmed the floor. Not so much training for royalty but more the current yoof trend of trackies worn under their bum I feel 😂😂

Kate in a Bella Freud suit. Nicely cut, trousers quite narrow, but overall a good look. Sweet necklace with her children's initials.

Like the suit, but having opted for a plain black top, she missed a cracking opportunity for a lovely large pendant. I suppose she's in mourning, but still… silver inlaid with jet, haematite, black sapphire, black opal, black pearl <shakes head, still slightly bemused>

Diana, of course, looks stunning in her check outfit, but the other two in the montage are eminently forgettable - was the fashion editor looking for an excuse to run the picture of Diana or needing to get in some advertising for check fashion?

I really like the prince of wales check suit that Catherine wore yesterday. Teamed with black top it met the 'royals in mourning ' requirement but was also smart.

Yes, I think Diana's outfit and Catherine's from yesterday are great - the other two outfits not so much.

I loved that suit. I was very impressed how she popped her hair into a bun!

Catherine loves a Prince of Wales check pattern it seems, she has worn it many times before. (I do too!)

It's very easy after a certain length. My hair is fairly long atm and if I put it up into a bun like that then it just stays up.

I hope that Catherine managed to get a bolt of one of the fabulous silks stashed in the car to have an evening dress made!
