Has anyone regretted Botox?

Hi,

45yrs old and first time botox appointment is booked for next week. The injector is a dentist with many years experience, she's done other cosmetic work for me, just not this. She recommended forehead, crowsfeet and in the middle of eyes. My eyes are a little hooded so I was worried about heaviness, so she's going to go light in the forehead

I'm so jittery about it now it's getting closer. What if I get ptosis or a wonky face, I also don't want to be frozen, just gently more refreshed!

Just started a new job so I'm treating myself with the first extra pay. But also if it goes wrong I will have zero confidence in this new job facing all these new colleagues

Has it gone wrong for anyone here? Has anyone regretted it?

These are all risks that you take when you inject stuff into your face.

No one can tell you for sure that it will be OK or not. It will probably be fine, there's a chance it might not. It's your decision.

You will hear people raving about it and people for whom it has gone a bit wrong.

Botox breaks down after 3-6 months so it probably won't be permanent either way.

vincettenoir · 24/07/2025 16:36

IMO this is an extra stressor you don’t need atm. I would investigate it again in about six months or so.

PeggyMitchellsCameo · 24/07/2025 16:36

It’s never gone wrong for me, although it is has for a good friend.
In my experience, dentists have a great knowledge of facial structure. If I was having it done again, I would return to the dentist who did mine.
I got the 11’s done first and I didn’t like the feeling of not being able to move my forehead. But that’s just me!
I am now late 50’s and would need more than them doing now, and I can’t justify the expense.
I would say that it is easier to start off with a subtle touch. You should be able to be seen after a fortnight or so to see how it’s going.
And remember it’s not forever. If it’s not for you, it’s not permanent.

autumn1610 · 24/07/2025 16:39

I have had one time it went wrong not drastically and I have had it since. I get one spot only which is my 11’s. However one of my eyebrows dropped and it was so heavy. My eyelid felt weird. Then I had to get more into the other side to balance them out. Personally I wouldn’t go for loads the first time but that’s personal preference

Reallywittyusername · 24/07/2025 16:40

I have had it done twice and didn't have any issues, except a headache after the second lot.

But I agree with the pp who suggested maybe waiting a bit so you don't have the stress of having to face new colleagues if it does go a bit wrong. I was worried about eyelid droop with mine. I know it's only temporary but it freaked me out a bit. One of the reasons I don't get it anymore

DazedAndConfused321 · 24/07/2025 18:14

My only regret was not getting it sooner!

wizzywig · 24/07/2025 18:20

It's annoying as it doesn't last long.

Leaveswoods · 24/07/2025 18:34

Love it!!!

Fragmentedbrain · 24/07/2025 18:35

I love it, been having it since I was 33 (so ten years now). I get it from a dentist. At 45 you'd probably benefit from a touch of filler too.

Morrisdancer403010 · 24/07/2025 18:39

Had it multiple times in the same areas as you. Sometimes they've put a bit too much in and had heavy looking eyes. Also had chipmunk looking cheeks with the crows feet. This was before I found the injector I always go to now. Also a dentist and zero issues. End of the day, it doesn't last long. I was super nervous 1st time too. Water off a ducks back now. I only wish I could get it faster than 12 weeks between treatments

TheJoan · 24/07/2025 18:40

Botox in the forehead can cause the brows to drop
slightly, so worth considering if potential heaviness is a concern.

ProfessionalWhimsicalSkidaddler · 24/07/2025 18:43

I did read that it can make eye hooding worse. I think it made mine feel heavy but no visual heaviness.

do your research and read reviews to find a good practitioner. Possibly put your area here and see if anyone has recommendations?

I am 38 and had it twice last year. I loved it but it wore off in one month and then two so I figured it wasn’t worth it. I adored the results. The two week review should resolve any issues but worst I’ve seen is an eyebrow that doesn’t move as much as the other.

CoffeeandWalnuts · 24/07/2025 18:50

Thank you all. I'm in the Midlands, but I'm happy with the practitioner tbh. She said she's only had 3 clients with ptosis and one was herself

We discussed the heavy eyes too, so she agreed it could be a problem area but she can be careful around the area and be delicate with the amount

Risk of droopy brows is the main reason I won’t have it. A ml of filler to the Marionettes makes a noticeable difference for me

Sinthie · 24/07/2025 19:10

Same age, also with hooded eyes. First time I had forehead and 11s and it was awful. My eyes felt dry and heavy and it took about 4 weeks to feel normal again. It looked ok and eventually wore off, but was quite stressful. I then went to a different injector and had 11s only (small dosage). It gave a bit of a lift and I now have this regularly. I did try 11s and crows feet once with my current injector, but I got a bit of puffiness and dry eyes. I now stick with 11s only every few months. Might do crows feet again, but won’t touch my forehead.

Nope, best thing I've done. And you're in safe hands with a dentist. They're the best people to go with for a procedure like that. Enjoy 😁

watchingplanesicantafford · 24/07/2025 19:23

I had one where I had spock eyebrows for three months

honeylulu · 24/07/2025 19:29

I have hooded eyes and botox actually improves the look of them. I originally only wanted the 11s done so I didn't look so frowny but she (nurse prescriber) suggested as it only needed a little bit that she popped the leftover dose into the eyebrow area too. I couldn't understand the logic as I thought a muscle relaxant would make my eyebrows drop but it was the opposite- pulled them (and therefore also my eyelids) up slightly and I now look properly awake and not tired! Its not a Mr Spock surprised look, just a refreshed/ rested look.

So no regrets! Have been back a few times now.

Elektra1 · 24/07/2025 19:34

I got it for the first time a couple of years ago - also from a dentist - and it’s been fab. No one else notices directly but I no longer have the deeply etched 11 lines (that’s the only place I get Botox) and people often comment on how well I look. It takes about 5 minutes for her to do and doesn’t hurt. I love it.

SchatzMaus · 24/07/2025 19:37

I have mine done by an experienced dentist in the midlands too. I chose a dentist because they have obviously have very detailed knowledge of facial anatomy.
I absolutely love how much fresher I look, I have no regrets - I do all 3 areas. You’ll see results around day 3-4 but do wait a full 2 weeks to see the final effect. Your dentist should offer top ups at the 2 week mark in case one area works better than others. I always have one eyebrow that raises a bit more than the other, so get that corrected.
Its normal to be nervous, but I can almost promise that you will see improvement somewhere and won’t regret it.
In my opinion, people who regret it have either 1) been to someone who isn't an experienced injector or 2) they had unrealistic expectations.
All the best for the appointment! You deserve to feel your best x

SweetMotherofAbrahamLincoln · 24/07/2025 19:40

If you ask for a brow lift, she won’t inject above the eyebrows and it helps pull them up a little (nothing drastic) otherwise I find Botox can make the brow area a bit too heavy. Brow lifts give more of a refreshed look. I adore Botox. Hope all goes well x

SchatzMaus · 24/07/2025 19:40

To add to the above, I would also say that there are obviously some people who don’t react well to it unfortunately, but that number is quite small. Going to someone experienced who has statistics on ptosis (which is rare!) should help decrease that very small risk even further.

Poobs2022 · 24/07/2025 19:41

My only regret is that it doesn't last so long for me. It does break down quickly which it should but I know someone who only has it twice a year so somehow lasts longer for her. Had it once in the middle of my brows and it gave me a headache but I have no issues with my crows feet and I often get told I look really fresh.

Twinklewonderkins · 24/07/2025 19:42

I love it, been having it for about 7 years now.
one of my friends got an uneven eyebrow from hers once tho.
Having mine redone next week.

Platypusdiver · 24/07/2025 19:42

No. I have my 11s done.
