Wedding guest dress - does this look dated?

Attending a family church wedding next weekend. I have bought this Karen Millen dress on Vinted but now wondering if it looks a bit dated. I only paid £10 for it, so I could potentially find something else. I’m only 5ft 1 and size 6/8 so I don’t find it that easy to find a dress that fits. I’ve tried petite long dresses but they make me look like a little girl. Please can I have some honest answers as my husband thinks it’s fine but probably just pleased I’ve just found something after the endless searching!

MelonElla · 20/07/2025 12:31

It's a pretty dress that's appropriate for a wedding. I think you should wear it

BCBird · 20/07/2025 12:33

Lovely.

Wisterical · 20/07/2025 12:43

You will look pretty in it but yes, it is dated. So it depends how much you care about looking fashionable?

TubeScreamer · 20/07/2025 12:46

It’s nice

anikarice · 20/07/2025 12:47

think it’s timeless to be honest for a wedding it’s lovely

4Tornot4T · 20/07/2025 12:50

I think it's lovely. if you like the dress and feel comfortable in it I think you should wear it. Well done finding such a bargain!

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 20/07/2025 12:50

It’s very early 2010s with the very bold florals but if it fits you and you like it it’s perfectly appropriate for a wedding!

minnienono · 20/07/2025 12:52

Perfectly wedding appropriate. Weddings are not fashion forward events generally, unless you move in certain circles. If it suits you fit wise go for it

Delphiniumandlupins · 20/07/2025 12:59

It's lovely. I think more classic than dated.

Spaglasagneaise · 20/07/2025 13:03

Not my cup of tea.

TheyFuckYouUpYourMamAndDad · 20/07/2025 13:05

Not sure why people think it’s dated? It’s lovely OP, very summery and a gorgeous colour.

Duckies · 20/07/2025 13:06

I agree it is 2010s but I intentionally search Vinted for early 2010s clothes! Last gasp of the quality high street, in my opinion. I would not be bothered about following trends at a wedding. Wear what looks good. I bet your husband is being honest when he says you look nice. Lots of 2010 dress styles are super flattering compared to now.

Headabovetheparapets · 20/07/2025 13:08

I’d say retro classic rather than dated & if it suits you, which I imagine from your description it does it will look lovely, and choice of accessories will be key for the look you like.

whackamole666 · 20/07/2025 13:09

Timeless, sophisticated, elegant.

And perfect for a wedding.

TheOGCCL · 20/07/2025 13:09

I can see why you are asking the question but I think with weddings (especially summer), unashamedly floral works.

starfishmummy · 20/07/2025 13:12

Nothing wrong with it IMHO.

BlueandPinkSwan · 20/07/2025 13:14

Who cares if it's in fashion or stylish? It's a lovely dress, you liked it enough to buy it so wear it and enjoy the wedding.
Randoms saying it's dated or being negative have their opinion like the rest of you, we have to agree to disagree.

Poodlelove · 20/07/2025 13:18

Perfect

Westfacing · 20/07/2025 13:27

It is a lovely dress but in pure fashion terms it is dated.

It depends on your age, how much you care about current fashion, and the social circle you move in as to whether you'll be comfortable wearing it.

If you can afford it I would buy something else - it's £10 for a reason.

StickyProblem · 20/07/2025 13:50

What's in fashion for a wedding then, if this is out of fashion?

I think it's lovely OP and agree with others weddings aee more about being dressed up and if what's a few years old suits you better then it's the best thing to wear.

I find it strange that people would just say "yes it's dated" without saying what would NOT be dated. Smaller floral, different neckline, block colour, what?
