Wedding guest dress - does this look dated?

Attending a family church wedding next weekend. I have bought this Karen Millen dress on Vinted but now wondering if it looks a bit dated. I only paid £10 for it, so I could potentially find something else. I’m only 5ft 1 and size 6/8 so I don’t find it that easy to find a dress that fits. I’ve tried petite long dresses but they make me look like a little girl. Please can I have some honest answers as my husband thinks it’s fine but probably just pleased I’ve just found something after the endless searching!

It’s not following the current trend of large, billowy dresses, but I think that’s a good thing, you will look stunning in a dress that suits your body shape and not just following everyone else.

Possibly it’s dated, but it sounds like it will fit you perfectly. I’d focus on that.

OP my 16 year old has just bought something very very similar in cream. So I really don't think it's dated! You're clearly just a smidge of the trend for these lot on mn 😉

I think it’s a bit early 2000’s Jane Norman.

Yes the bodycon style is a bit dated. I’ve got a few Karen Millen dresses similar to that that I used to wear to weddings (can’t fit in them any more.) It would be fine to wear of course if you like it.

TartanMammy · 20/07/2025 19:45

It is dated, but if you like it and it suits you then you should wear it.

SaintGermain · 20/07/2025 19:51

It is dated but you have the perfect figure for it and as it’s a wedding it’s not about wearing the latest fashion but about presenting yourself in an appropriate wedding guest outfit and this will be ideal.

It’s dated, yes. It sort of reminds me of Lipsy dresses from 2010s.

Huggersunite · 20/07/2025 19:55

It would be nice to see a photo of you in it. That dress is probably most suited to a curvy shape because it is quite tight fitting. I like it but yes it is not necessarily quite now but I don’t think that is a bad thing. It is very pretty and I really like the neckline.

I was going to say exactly the same thing re JN. Used to love JN and looked a bomb in those tight ruched v neck tops 😊

I mean would have worn and loved that dress in the Naughties. I love it now but the clingy shape and big print does look dated to me, sorry.

I think it's not quite dated enough to be 'vintage' which to be means bygone era rather than 10/15 years ago ....
