Have you ever been online shopping and come across a picture and wondered what the heck? I was just browsing next online and came across this photo. Im not looking for jeggings but was rather searching 'new in' so maybe this is how jeggings look in the crotch area?

God. The models all look dead behind their eyes. What a soul destroying job.

I’m sure I saw her at the Willy Wonka experience

It reminds me of Elizabeth Banks in Hunger Games - “May the odds be ever in your favour!”

AzurePanda · 26/07/2025 16:39

I absolutely can’t stand this. Half the models these days look as if they’re squatting to do a wee.

I am an excellent judge of whether a garment will work for me by looking how it hangs on a model but I can’t do this if they’re squatting or otherwise contorted. Absolutely loathe it too when skirts or trousers are shown with the waistband obscured. No wonder there are so many returns,

Ah - the classic 'Taking a shit' pose up there @ Zara
🤣

Yes that’s given me a right giggle
She looks like she’s been surprised whilst using a squat toilet.

What's your problem with adding a laughing emoji that everyone can see? The Site Board discussed why it was removed and from the examples given, correctly so.

Stop derailing the thread because you don't like what people are saying.
You had a right to say you didn't like the emoji, others have the right to say they did like it.

This is so funny. Why? So you can see the gusset????

What in the Marty McFly is that whole outfit?

And I’m amazed leggings are still being sold, frankly.

Marty McFly 😂

Love the movie reference. I was thinking Gru from Despicable Me when I saw this pic. Can’t unsee it now.

This has to be my favourite one I've found recently.

Because who doesn't lie on the banks of a lake like a discarded mannequin in their £250 dress.

The shit all over the bottom of her boots makes it extra 😗🤌

Oh god this whole photo shoot is so baffling. 😹

what’s with the several photos of families awkwardly caught in the frame next to her???

I think the weird pose and camera angle here probably didn't help M&S.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cly2j1322w9o

I was looking for swimwear this week on their site, the lack of size diversity was ridiculous.
Being extremely slim is a perfectly valid shape and size, but M & S must realise a lot of their market is not like that. All their tummy control cossies were modelled by women with concave stomachs who looked like a size 6!

Weirdly styled / posed photos...
BruceAndNosh · 27/07/2025 09:15

On the rare occasion the model stands straight up, she invariably is wearing size nine brogues with her feet splayed out in full "ballet Second position"

Laiste · 27/07/2025 10:11

Oh the shape wear shots! It's a can of worms really. We all know shape wear can create ... how do we say ... bulges ? elsewhere, especially if the edge falls where the flesh is very soft. The love handle area ect.

Once clothes are on it often looks fine. But to model the shapewear without clothes on top it's prob pretty hard to get pics which would tempt buyers on a body which was full figured. Some websites do it well, some seem to swerve the effort of getting it right and just use the size 6 models as usual. Which does look daft and like they couldn't be bothered for their target market.

MrsEmmelinePankhurst · 27/07/2025 11:07

In case nobody has posted him yet, please enjoy this chap on Instagram taking the p* out of all the fashion brands’ weird model poses - he gets it absolutely spot-on. (It’s a link to a safe public Instagram page, nothing dodgy - he’s called Julio Jan Pierre if you want to look him up before you click)

Zara is fucking ridiculous. Models of a trouser crouching down. Modelling a top? Better cross your arms and bend down a bit.
Most photos are shot in half light or black and white so you have NO IDEA what they are actually selling.

Oh, I forgot one other thing that Marks does. Got something white? Let's dump it onto a pure white background and not bother with a model who might show that it's transparent/arms are 4 inches longer on one side than the other.

I have you seen the "pose like a Zara model" TikTok trend https://vm.tiktok.com/ZNdHey6xw/

Yeah. It would be vastly more useful to see clothes on people sized 8-16 at least. At M&S you get size 4s who have had the clothes taken in or pinned to fit, and a size 22. Let's see women who are 5'4" and a size 16, and 5'7" and a size 10.

deeahgwitch · 28/07/2025 07:43

What really pis*es me off about Marks is the big posters they have in store advertising the latest dress, coat, skirt whatever.
Or ads they have paid for in magazines.
But the colour of the item in the photo is nothing like the colour on the item in real life.
Why !!!!
Surely the photographer on the fashion shoot was paid handsomely for his work.
He / she should be able at least to get the colour correct 🙄

MrsEmmelinePankhurst · 28/07/2025 10:21

@deeahgwitch yes, and also the Marks adverts which pop up on Instagram showing something really lovely, then you click on it and it’s completely sold out. ARGGHHHH!!!!

* I initially typed “M&S” and this automatically created a hyperlink to their website - are MN in cahoots with them?! I went back and edited it out!

@Drivingthevengabus Pose Like a Zara Model is BRILLIANT!

MrsEmmelinePankhurst · 28/07/2025 10:23

Oh no the hyperlink is still there 🤦‍♀️
