Have you ever been online shopping and come across a picture and wondered what the heck? I was just browsing next online and came across this photo. Im not looking for jeggings but was rather searching 'new in' so maybe this is how jeggings look in the crotch area?

But like... It's an emoji? Just ignore it? I'd argue the vile things people say on this website have way more scope to be harmful than a stupid smiley face.

If they're so emotionally fragile they can't cope with one ill used emoji maybe the internet isn't the place for them?

If that applied throughout the forum there would be no need for the report button or deletion messages.

But unlike nasty public comments the hidden react buttons are only visible to the person being praised or attacked.

I got one which was obviously intended to be mocking. I didn't do anything about it- it just confirmed the poster concerned was an idiot but the Site Board had examples of it being used maliciously.

But there's a huge difference between a sarcastic laugh emoji and, for example, a racist comment or a threat of violence. In fact, you could say that the public comment is more harmful than a private emoji.

The difference is on here everyone sees the public comment, sees what a nasty piece of work the poster is and anyone can report it. The "sarcastic laugh" is only seen by the person targeted.

Take it up with MNHQ, if you like. They must have agreed with the posters who complained.

HarrietBond · 22/07/2025 16:54

It's a different way of being unpleasant, quite a sly one. And if a vulnerable person is posting, it takes away the ability of others to support them.

Marks and Spencer are really bad for this . The models are contorted into such weird poses that you have no idea what some of the garments look like .

👏🏻
I totally agree.
Ridiculous and it’s not just M&S

mamagogo1 · 22/07/2025 17:08

Combination of weird poses and having ridiculously skinny models clothes hang weirdly off so you can’t tell what it looks like on average sized women

Skissors · 22/07/2025 20:59

There used to be an Instagram account called Awkward Zara. Or something similar. Very funny. Basically Zara poses with a funny caption.

If they stood up straight, you'd see the crappy finish and uneven hemlines or that they're leaning forward to hide the fact that the neckline is so deep it gives a good opportunity to see your knickers.

See also skirts that require a good bikini wax before going out in public and the great gaping chasm between the end of the top at the front and your trousers and the foot shots that make Godzilla look like he's got smaller feet.

All I can think of is bloody hell her back must be killing her afterwards

Reminds me of the bassist from The Leningrad Cowboys.

Oh, I cannot believe this had never occurred to me. I love high fashion and the crazy/clumsy/gawky poses and it never occurred to me before that part of this was about hiding stuff that wasn't considered helpful to sell the clothes 😆

Zara is hilarious for this. I once looked at a dress and all of the pictures of it being worn were of the model striding down a street. The traffic was in focus, the model was not!

Or an office blouse that is worn without being buttoned and with no bra on. My HR manager would have many questions!

Also, the models never have any tits.

It's impossible to tell what it's going to look like if you're larger than a b cup.

Or rather, you can tell that 80% of your boobs are going to be either flapping in the wind, or shoved in someone else's face, and you won't be able to wear a bra either.

I love weird Zara poses!

Edited

Noooo 🤣
The coat on backwards, omg wtf

IHaveAlwaysLivedintheCastle · 23/07/2025 20:09

I loved this Batsheva Laura Ashley styling. I bought the first long dress , where she's pushing the pram with smoke coming out of it, in blue. Great dress, gets lots of compliments.
Batsheva Laura Ashley

The styling which turns me off is the lots of make-up and pouting in a selfie or even worse Sezanne's absurd "ooh look at me, I'm so French and sexy and I don't know how to do my buttons up"

I guess the Batsheva stuff is intentionally weird. I think the others are going for something else but get it wrong.

Batsheva makes me smile.

This puts me off buying anything (aside from not liking their dull clothes)

Yes, I’ve definitely seen some odd poses and styling that make it hard to even see the clothes properly. Sometimes it feels like the artistic direction forgets the whole point, helping us decide if we want to buy the item!

Binfire · 15/07/2025 19:39

Oh yes jeggings never look great in the crotch area! I’m surprised they sell any nowadays though, they’ve been officially ‘out’ for a long time now.

Most people don’t care whats in or out, I work in retail and skinny jeans for example have never stopped being best sellers.

Skinnyblonde · 24/07/2025 20:24

NEXT is so blah and frumpy. Makes me think of middle aged plain school mum.

theblackradiator · 24/07/2025 23:03

Asda George models always look terrible, poorly fitting clothing, awkward poses. Im surprised they sell any clothing as everything looks shit on the models. they are photographed at awkward angles. same with asda george kids, they always look like they could do with the next size up in the item they are wearing.

I think that's unfair. Yes that's probably what I'd think of Next's own brand clothes (and not very good quality) but the website has a ton of concessions and brands on there, more like a department store these days. I certainly have a look at the sales.

I think the weird pose and camera angle here probably didn't help M&S.

That looks ridiculous!
