I bought this dress a while ago when it was on offer

Would it be ok for Wimbledon and what shoes and bag would you wear with it? I’m thinking cream but I don’t have either!

Thank you all, yes we have seated tickets.

Style wise it's fine but you are going to be roasting. I would wear a lighter colour and light fabric.

Bailiwitch · 03/07/2025 13:57

I like your dress and would happily wear something similar.

Anyway - this is what you want. Great shots of civilians as well as slebs:

It is possible to look good and well-dressed without being 'dressed up'... 😉🎾😎
Wear the dress OP!

Parker231 · 03/07/2025 14:26

It looks like a very formal dress - interview type?
I went yesterday on Centre Court and was in cream linen shorts and a loose shirt.

Moveoverdarlin · 03/07/2025 14:27

Personally I think that dress is PERFECT for Wimbledon.

Make it a bit more summery with cream shoes and bag.

Why dress down when you can dress up? Go for it.

LetMeJustCheckMyCitrusPocket · 03/07/2025 14:30

I was there at the start of the week and because of the extreme heat there were loads of lightweight floaty pretty dresses on display everywhere but definitely with comfy shoes, hat and sunglasses.

The dress you've linked is lovely and I think would usually be perfect but it does look too warm for current conditions.

If you have regular tickets you can wear jeans. You don't need to dress up. Wear something comfy and weather appropriate.

@BeamMeUpCountMeIn

jeans aren’t comfy

Jungfraujoch · 03/07/2025 15:03

Lovely dress but think you’d be incredibly hot! If you’re on Centre or No 1 court you may want to be a little dressier but a simple summer dress is fine - comfy shoes, hat and SPF! Enjoy!

InterestedBeing · 03/07/2025 15:04

It depends where you're sitting. If you're on centre court in the royal box, then yes.

Other than that it's far too dressy.

sandrafarringdon66 · 03/07/2025 15:13

Too dressy and not appropriate for the bowling hot weather.

bendmeoverbackwards · 03/07/2025 15:32

We’re not going till 13th July so I’ll see what the weather is like nearer the time.

It’s a lovely dress but the forecast is predicting high 20s for the finals, so I‘d rethink if I were you. It will be more formal on finals days and it’s fun to dress up for the occasion! I’m going on Saturday and will be wearing a nice dress or linen trousers and a lovely top.

Sgreenpy · 03/07/2025 15:57

There's a loose dress code in hospitality, no Jeans or trainers and in there most women were wearing dresses/jumpsuits/linen trousers/tops in mostly pale colours.
For normal tickets anything goes (apart from political/offensive t shirts)
Plenty of shorts and jean shorts and t shirts around the grounds.
It was very hot on Monday!

fanmepls · 03/07/2025 15:59

People do dress up particularly now days compared to yrs ago.

fanmepls · 03/07/2025 15:59

Equally lots dress down.

bendmeoverbackwards · 03/07/2025 11:24

Awww shame, I was looking forward to dressing up! Looks like it’s a more casual affair.

Dress up! There’s a strict dress code for some areas (eg the members enclosure) so even if you’re not going in you won’t be overdressed.

upandleftthenright · 03/07/2025 16:02

Zov · 03/07/2025 11:15

You're gonna get hot in that! It's very dark in colour...

This (pic attached) was how I dressed when I went several years ago.

You're in the audience at a tennis tournament. You're not meeting the King and Queen! 👑👑 Grin

Is that you @ZovYou look amazing

TrentCrimmsflowinglocks · 03/07/2025 16:03

The weather the way it is atm, you'll boil.

Unless you are doing corporate hospitality or something, you don't need to dress up. Both times I've been in shorts and tee shirt....

cupfinalchaos · 03/07/2025 16:04

Of course it ok but I’m going Monday and even on Centre Court in Debentures I’m dressing for comfort and the weather. I’m there to enjoy my day.

Sidebeforeself · 03/07/2025 16:05

I love it! I think it’s perfect for Wimbledon . I personally hate tennis but I presume it’s an exciting occasion for you, so why not dress up? Life is too short!

Bailiwitch · 03/07/2025 16:09

Those of you dressing for comfort - could you say why a perfectly simple dress should not be comfortable? (Entirely assuming it works for the weather on the day.)

bendmeoverbackwards · 03/07/2025 11:24

Awww shame, I was looking forward to dressing up! Looks like it’s a more casual affair.

Wear what you want! If you want to dress up, do, but I wouldn’t wear navy viscose. You’ll get really warm and it’ll start sticking to you.

Mirroredas198 · 03/07/2025 16:17

I think it’s a perfect dress for Wimbledon. Dress it down with white trainers or ballet flats.

Its only a dress, some of these replies you’d think it was a full gown and tiara!

WhatDidIComeInThisRoomFor · 03/07/2025 16:21

Do you know where your seats are? If you’re up at the back on Centre or no 1 under the shade, you never see the sun and it can be freezing! Meanwhile down nearer the court and everyone is turning lobster red and fanning themselves like crazy and you definitely don’t want to be in navy satin crepe there! There’s no relief from the sun at all in the lower seats until it moves round.
