Jo Whiley

Every year Jo Whiley always looks so fabulous and healthy. Every year I vow to get my arse in gear and have a mature makeover but every year after watching Glastonbury I’m still an untoned blob. I love her look but fear you need the height and tone to carry it off. Does anyone have clothing / skincare recommendations to start me on my way? (Drags weights out of the wardrobe)

OP posts:

Being tall and thin is just a perfect blank canvas. You can then add bleach to your hair, tan and make-up to your skin and you can’t go wrong. She does look bloody great.

Incredibly, there was a time when she was mocked for being unattractive. I’m sure I read an article in the Guardian back in the ‘90s that said she “had a good face for radio” and there seemed to be a consensus that she wasn’t pretty. It puzzled me as she was (and is) extremely good-looking.

I think that was at a time when blonde TV presenters had that tiny, petite doll look. Thinking Denise VO and Gail Porter?
Now Jo just looks cool, I love her angular face, and her deep voice. And the band t-shirt/PVC shirts/biker boots is a look she pulled off. I think the setting helped, and that she’s a genuine music-lover and presenter.
90’s/early 00’s time, around the time of Loaded/FHM was so tough on young women.

She’s very rich OP, she will have stylists and personal trainers etc. no use comparing yourself to someone with a lot of money.

Her style isn’t my thing at all, but you’re best off finding the look at works for you and exercising and adjusting your dietary habits to suit you and make you happy. Rich people have access to a load of things the rest of us simply can’t afford.

Bridport · 29/06/2025 10:48

She genuinely seems a lovely, happy, family person with a passion for life who seems to give her all to everything she does. She seems 100% herself to me which is rare in a world of fake everything.

All the people at Jeff Bezo's wedding have money and it couldn't buy them the Jo Whiley look.

rockstarshoes · 29/06/2025 11:06

Stamps foot! I want my own Tanner!

My attempts even with a gradual fake tan are pretty woeful! Doesn’t matter I much exfoliating I do!

something2say · 29/06/2025 11:15

I too loved seeing her last night and always have thought a lot of her

The boots she wears is just about partying in a field.

I saw modern strains of fashion in her delicate gold bracelet choices, and in the silk Ibiza dress.

Her hair is well cut, and she is a Cancer and they (and their astrological opposite, Capricorn) apparently tend to have think blank hair, and she works well with it. (I'm a Leo rising and moon, and I have a massive curly long bush).

But I really like her eye makeup. In a world of fake lashes, I really like her black eyes but cant work out what she is doing...

And then of course the musical knowledge. Just love her.

Cyclingforcake · 29/06/2025 11:25

She definitely has a stylist for Glastonbury. I remember listening to her show one night when she was really excited because her Glastonbury wardrobe had arrived and listening to her and James king go through it.

ANagsHead · 29/06/2025 11:29

I’m pretty sure her stylist was discussed on the annual Jo Whiley @ Glastonbury thread here after she wore the blue Stella McCartney dress!

She makes me feel crap.

So beautiful. I’ve seen her in real life more than once, and she’s just as effortlessly cool and gorgeous.

Nothing to suggest for a quick fix other than fake tan and cool trainers.

She has a stylist, TBF

vjg13 · 29/06/2025 12:16

She maintains a very high level of fitness and does look really toned. She comes across as very cheerful and has a very genuine smile. I’m less keen on her Glasto wardrobe but I do like her everyday looks.

Theres a lot you can do to invest in yourself to make you look good if you are feeling crap.
If you like her style, you could follow her on insta and adapt it to suit you. Theres loads of quick fixes that can help you look fabulous.

I would as well if I was in her position!!

BeamMeUpCountMeIn · 29/06/2025 12:51

Greg James and Jo were talking about she ended up taking a tacky jumpsuit he'd been wearing in the studio. Her stylist had packed it as it was on the pile in the same studio (or something like that).

ANagsHead · 29/06/2025 12:53

Oh yes - I heard that by accident! She said she was very puzzled because it was so thin and cheap looking! Grin

BeamMeUpCountMeIn · 29/06/2025 13:04

She's probably not even putting much (any) mental load into what she wears on telly. It'll be laid out for her.
Someone will have made her hair, nail, tanning and facial appointments. Booked her transport and hotel. Jo "just" has to do her presenting prep, work out at the gym, eat well etc. She's very very good at her job, it's a team effort though.

That would be amazing.
I definitely took the wrong career path!

Bridport · 29/06/2025 13:24

She also looked amazing at Chelsea Flower Show.

Delatron · 29/06/2025 13:27

She looks amazing. She actually looks better now than she did when she was younger (not saying she looked bad then either).

Screamingabdabz · 28/06/2025 18:51

I think slim and happy wins every time. Bung in a fake/real tan, hip clothes, lights and glasto backdrop and she’s bound to look great. If she put on two stone and you sat on her on a bus going to her office job at 8.30am on a drizzly November morning, she’d probably still look ‘nice’ but not superstar great.

Oddly, I used get the train with her. She commuted on a normal train, in Std class. I no longer do, so no idea if she still does!

She was still very very attractive, in a way that probably is more noticeable to women than men. Doesnt seem to pander to the make gaze. Does have an excellent bone structure and just a natural-born coolness.

The dress is fabulous. It would look this way on me…..

🤣🤣🤣

Too real

lissie123 · 29/06/2025 14:16

Hasn’t she got four kids too?

longtompot · 29/06/2025 14:45

I love her style and she gives off a really friendly, approachable aura. I think what really helps, aside from money, is she is just very comfortable in her own skin.
The all in one was from Greg James and was his Benson Boone costume. I love that she actually wore it...and didn't look dreadful!

ThePoshUns · 29/06/2025 15:21

I love Jo. She is everything I would like to be

Daughn · 29/06/2025 15:32

I have been waiting for the annual Jo Whiley thread! She has maintained a healthy weight rather than going up and down (like I have) I'm inspired to be more consistent in strength training....and to dig out the fake tan.
