Victoria Madrid trainers?

Schweden · 12/06/2025 15:41

Bought these last week because I wanted something more interesting than plain white and it was a bit of an impulse thing. I have always avoided animal print, I know it can be bit marmite. Loved them when they arrived and then son aged 19 saw them and ripped me mercilessly, so now I am doubting myself. I am early 50s, short but slim, not one for high fashion, just an ordinary middle aged woman who WFH.

Keep or return?
And if I return, what else instead?

I absolutely love them! I am 46.

UnPetitCochon · 12/06/2025 16:35

I like them!

UpMyself · 12/06/2025 17:54

I don't like them. I'm older than you.

The other colours are better but they give me Marks and Sparks vibes.
Marks is great for reasonably priced stylish shoes.

Scotsgirl001 · 12/06/2025 17:56

Liked until I noticed the glitter on the back. I’m same age.

Landofthesummerpeople · 12/06/2025 17:59

I bought a similar pair from the same range. I love them and I’m 50! Wear them and enjoy them I say.

UpMyself · 12/06/2025 18:02

If you love them, wear them.

Schweden · 12/06/2025 18:51

Thanks all. I don't normally do glitter either. But in my size, they say they are kids shoes, so maybe I am having a second childhood! 😳

Will try them on again later. Apart from anything else, I have awkwardly shaped feet. So they may have to go back anyway. Mostly I live in Birkenstocks so my toes can splay.

Like the animal, loath the glitter!

Dangermoo · 12/06/2025 19:54

Gawjus - keep.

Oh I love them! But warning: I am 46 and have quite bad taste!

I am tempted myself!

HappyNewTaxYear · 12/06/2025 20:00

I’ve seen women of your age (I’m a little older) wearing these. I think they look great. Wear them!

NamechangeJunebaby · 12/06/2025 20:00

I actually really want buy a pair now. I see autumn walks in them with skinny jeans and a lovely brown or tan cashmere jumper and some little pearl drop earrings…. I will obsess over these trainers now until I buy them….

Efrogwraig · 12/06/2025 20:15

Keep them & remove son from Will!

TryForSpring · 12/06/2025 20:28

No. They look like cheap knock-offs.

yorkshirebird2382 · 12/06/2025 20:30

I absolutely love them! If I could justify another pair of shoes you would have just influenced me

Of what?

They aren't for me, but I wouldn't think twice if someone else wore them, whatever their age. (I'm 46, if it matters.) They stand out from the crowd, but that's the point. If I like something I'll wear it whether it looks like it's for a 20-something or an octogenarian. Is it comfortable? Is it appropriate (not too much showing for my sense of decorum)? Do I like the way it looks or feels on me? If yes, that's all I need to know.

Anyway, what does the average 19-year-old male know about fashion? (Maybe more than me, come to that!)

I’m flabbergasted at the price. They look like trainers you would pick up in Sainsburys. I like that they are at least leather but I’d much rather go for Adidas (timeless) or Nike.

itgetsthehoseagain · 13/06/2025 10:02

I love them! I'm 55 and have looked to see if they're my size :) Ignore your son. x

ZippyBrick · 13/06/2025 10:43

Keep them, they're great, and he'll get over it.
To those complaining that they're not Nike/Adidas, Victoria is a very on trend brand, and has taken massive share in the trainer market recently.

Verite1 · 13/06/2025 10:46

I’m not keen myself but I prefer my trainers to be relatively plain/classic.

I’m not the previous poster but I’ve always thought this brand looks like a knock off of Veja - I didn’t realise they were almost the price of Vejas!

Just to add - I think the leopard print is fun and I like the placement of it so I’d keep them, they’ll be useful ☺️

Veja as a company is only 20 years old, while Victoria shoes are more than 100 years old...

I don’t think it really matters how old a brand is when saying one looks like a copy of another. They’re all just following market trends 🤷🏻‍♀️
