@Serenster that's funny.

At the time I saw that movie thought yuk Crosby is too old for her, daddy vibes. Whereas Philadelphia Story I loved.

CurlewKate · 17/06/2025 21:17

Ann looks a bit as if she’s wearing bits of 2-even 3 outfits!

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 17/06/2025 21:19

Princess Grace's wedding dress was beautiful; Kate's wedding dress reminded me of it.

Found this article about Grace's dress
https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/beauty/fashion/g4719/grace-kelly-wedding-gown/

In fact I've been down a Grace Kelly Grimaldi rabbit hole today.
We all know that she had Irish ancestry on her father's side but through her mother she's descended from German aristocracy & nobility.

? She's wearing a hat and a silk dress and coat.

Now here's gingham that has worked.

A baby pink gingham coat dress with a matching boater style hat with pink netting? I’m not sure that even in the questionable style of the 80s or 90s, that was considered an outfit that ‘worked’. 😂

Maireas · 17/06/2025 21:24

Thank you, @TracyBeakerSoYeah . Grace was beautiful, and so elegant. Yes, I thought Kate's dress was similar in style with the handmade lace.

I agree. Not even Diana could pull that off. Not one of her better looks.

Personally I think the only gingham item that has worked for Diana was her pink gingham trousers though much prefer them with the white shirt.

And maybe the only other times gingham has worked is on Kate & Anne. Perhaps more so on Anne.

Edited: spelling

@Maireas take my phone away - I should be finishing my ironing 😂

Maireas · 17/06/2025 21:49

I agree, I rather like the cropped trousers. Anne's coat is really nice, that should get a rewear (knowing Anne, that's really a given)

Camilla’s coat dress today is beautiful. So elegant and goes so well with the hat (and the brooch). Fergie needs a stylist - one who’s honest about sizing, I hate to say.

I liked Sophie’s pink gingham outfit that she wore to the VE celebrations earlier this year.

Camilla knocked it out of the park today.

When Fergie has occasionally used Beatrice dresser she has looked fantastic. Left to her own devices not so much.

Maireas · 17/06/2025 22:00

Yes, I agree @Serenster , Sophie suits the pale pink, and the outfit didn't look too fussy.

OP posts:
TracyBeakerSoYeah · 17/06/2025 22:07

Didn't see Sophie's gingham coat dress as otherwise I would have added that too.

Fergie does it get it right sometimes her outfit at Eugenie's wedding was fab especially her hat.

Maybe Beatrice's dresser was on holiday hence Bea & Fergie's outfit choice today.

I agree that Camilla, Sophie & Harriet (Peter Phillips's partner) all looked fab today.

Serenster · 17/06/2025 22:46

Camilla’s dress today was Dior, apparently!

Yes-and to my mind they don’t go together as a coherent outfit. Particularly the hat. The coat is lovely.

She's got a few Dior pieces. They are always so elegant.

Sophie definitely wins on the gingham front, and by quite a long way!

Yes @Maireas The Queen in Dior: très chic. And I agree with you that it's fabulous to see people dressed up looking properly elegant. It really doesn't happen enough anymore.

Daisy attended a ballet performance at the Fredensborg Palace Gardens, along with Benedikte.

Oh dear. It has just popped up on the BBC that Catherine won’t be attending Ascot today 😔

Sidebeforeself · 18/06/2025 13:10

I did have the thought today that June seems very “event dense” for the Royals and Kate has Wimbledon too.

PomeloOud · 18/06/2025 13:30

Kate’s been a bit busy (for her) over the last week. I’m sure she needs a day off.

No need for this. Start another thread if you want to be critical of individuals.
