Ridiculously comfortable black shoes

Blonzer · 01/06/2025 19:53

Neither stylish nor beautiful I suspect - starting a new job soon which will involve wearing a uniform trousers/skirt and I have to wear black shoes (absolutely no trainers or crocs). There'll be a lot of standing and walking around.

Any suggestions?

£130 for plastic shoes, not a chance I’d be paying that.

Ok👌

I have a pair of Mary Jane Walkers from Vivaia.

They may be entirely the wrong kind of shoe as they are very dainty but they are ridiculously comfortable.

I know, right? I have a medical condition that has resulted in loss of the fat pad in my heel on my right foot. I've been in agony for over a year - one day in my first pair of Vivaias and my pain was reduced by about 75%

Edited to add: I've never paid full price for a pair. There's constant offers and usually a fair few BNWT pairs on Vinted.

These are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. Bonus: they are washable.

Do they offer much support?

I'm a size 6, @Upcyled my favourites are a pair of dark green suedes with lilac laces..I'd like the leopard print pair! I have ridiculous wide feet and they actually fit me.. I always like the lighter colours but the problem is I am clumsy and messy and they'd not stay light. Lighter ones tend to be in suede.

The green ones sound lovely, I have the leopard ones in my collection. Mine are 6.5 or 7s they are so comfy and I'm on my feet all day at work.
Lot's of mine are from vinted.

Could you make boots work with the trousers of the uniform? I often find that if you need some really comfy/a bit less flattering, flat boots with trousers can look a bit better?

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 03/06/2025 22:02

I have the funny dreams ones. 9 years ago so far on the current pair.

Oh I'm envious @Upcyled I am also.an eBay buyer. There's a coral pair for sale on eBay but I can't afford them. (Carers allowance budget). They're so lovely and I really love the design.

I bought a green leather pair from Clarks outlet and they were too small and not properly marked with the same stamp. Very disappointed. Outlet aren't reliable.

I have flat feet and happily wear them all day and find them very supportive - they have a removable insole.

Another one here for Dr Martens Adrian loafers. They look smart and stylish with trousers and skirts/dresses. A real easy to wear classic that last for 2-3 years with almost daily wear, and once they’re broken in they’re as comfy as slippers.

voxnihili · 04/06/2025 06:32

I used to work in Clarks many years ago and swore blind I would never wear Funny Dream and couldn’t believe anyone would buy such a monstrosity.

After years of never quite finding a comfortable black work shoe, I saw them suggested on here so thought I’d give them a go. I’m currently in lots of pain with shin splints and was desperate.

I wish I had bought them sooner - never had such a comfortable pair of shoes.

Shangrilalala · 04/06/2025 08:01

I’ve given up on heels for many years but my go to for a smarter work shoe with height is Fly London’s Yaz. Super comfy and don’t look quite so odd when on. Also love Sole Bliss for fancier occasions.

I wear these Clark's brogues for work. They are very comfortable.

Came here to say this. On my third pair.

I love Vivaia ballet flats - they're machine washable too. They come in lots of different tie shapes. My favourite is the square toed Margot Mary Jane. I also love the round toe Claire.

If you google reverse search vivaia images you can usually find the same shoe on the likes of Amazon for a lot less.

PuppiesProzacProsecco · 04/06/2025 11:20

@Londonmummy66 but surely they'd just look similar? I love Vivaias because they're insanely comfortable. I generally pick them up in the sale or on Vinted anyway. I've never paid full price.

Reiker or fit flops

AmyDudley · 04/06/2025 12:28

Clarks funny dreams are the most comfortable shoes ever, I love them, despite my friend saying it looks as if I've got Cornish pasties on my feet Grin

Jaxhog · 04/06/2025 19:15

Another vote for Skechers. I have a pair of black Go Walk slipons, and they are fab. Or these?

Retired librarian, most comfy for all day feet are Ecco black lace up., round toe, expensive( but lasted 20 plus years. Boring but comfy

UnreadyEthel · 04/06/2025 22:04

DM’s are popular in my workplace. I have these https://www.drmartens.com/uk/en_gb/polley-smooth-leather-mary-jane-shoes-black/p/14852001

and these https://www.drmartens.com/uk/en_gb/2976-patent-leather-chelsea-boots-black/p/25278001?srsltid=AfmBOorpmlLqxnCYTlOhzsifeGKB8N26mav73GCMA100f7vACMNOg_DX

Both extremely comfortable (once they’ve been worn in)

These are my shoes , wear them every shift on a busy ward , very comfortable, feet never ache, on third pair last at least a couple of years, worth every penny

I can second these, I wore them for years after suffering with plantar facitiis they are very comfy and supportive. I snipped the button off and coloured the stitching to try to make them look less fugly!

Andoutcomethewolves · 04/06/2025 22:20

Skechers!
