How long does your tights last? Snag says off their brand is 2-5 wears?

No not a odd ball asking about your tights 😆
I've just seen an advertisement from snag saying other tights are 2-5 wears (not theirs... Or course hmm)
Surely not?
How long does yours last!?
I've had the same load for over a year now. Can't imagine throwing away after 2 wears!! Be spending £40 a month on tights!

I have some that I wear as an underlayer for cycling every week, no runs they are at least 3 years old 😀

TheFairyCaravan · 16/04/2025 21:20

I don’t count, but a lot more than 2-5 wears. That’s absolutely ridiculous.

Prettygreeneyes43 · 16/04/2025 21:21

I don’t wear tights but surely it would be the same as socks?! What on earth are they doing with them?

Dueanamechange2025 · 16/04/2025 21:22

Honestly before snag I think 2-3 wears if that, but I think they were too small and couldn’t get a decent fit from any super market.
Snag ones I’ve had over a year now.

AHBM2022 · 16/04/2025 21:22

Honestly I think it depends where you buy them, and the kindve person you are! If you’re just wearing tights to an interview, they should last a while. If you’re wearing them to class every day, then it’s common for holes to kick in. Also depends on age! Put any kid in any “destructible” branded tights and I’m sure they’ll find a way 😂 when I cheap out on some primark tights they do only last about 4/5 uses before they start getting holes n rips.

The material on tights can be different then socks; usually they’re like a sheen thin material that rips easily. For the ones that are like socks, tbf socks are in a protected shell whereas tights go all the way up to the elements

Mrscharlieeeee · 16/04/2025 21:24

Depends on the denier. 80 denier probably a year or so, 20 denier I’ve laddered after 1 wear and I only wear snag tights. Luckily though I will wear laddered tights so they won’t end up in the bin for quite some time.

LordBummenbachsMagnificentBalls · 16/04/2025 21:33

I buy lovely thick bodyshaper ones from M&S and they last for years

IHaveAlwaysLivedintheCastle · 16/04/2025 21:37

Anything 40 denier or above is almost indestructible. 3-5 years is more plausible.

Gundogday · 16/04/2025 21:38

Until they ladder!

Daffodilsarefading · 16/04/2025 21:40

I often ladder tights even opaque ones.

CamillaMacauley · 16/04/2025 21:48

I’ve got M&S 60 deniers which are pre covid.

BumbleBeegu · 16/04/2025 21:49

Gosh I’ve had some of mine for years!! 2-5 wears is ridiculous 😬

grumpypedestrian · 16/04/2025 21:52

Until I came across Snag mine would probably only last a few wears. Normally because they didn’t fit well, were too tight. I’ve had some M&S ones and by mid afternoon my toes were in agony. But my snag ones I wash and have worn loads, ultimate comfort.

faerietales · 16/04/2025 21:54

I’ve never owned a pair of tights that didn’t ladder or rip after 2-3 wears. I think it depends on your build tbh.

grumpypedestrian · 16/04/2025 21:54

I’m on my feet all day so wear socks under tights to protect the tights more. Most brands can’t stand up to that type of wear in my experience.

Gradiuma · 16/04/2025 21:55

Why you wearing tights in 2025?

TaggieO · 16/04/2025 21:57

Gradiuma · 16/04/2025 21:55

Why you wearing tights in 2025?

Were they banned at the end of 2024 or something?! Confused

suah · 16/04/2025 21:58

I have some from Thought that are several years old. In fact they have lasted so well I think Thought went out of business last year! I wear high denier ones though. I’ve also got some M&S ones which haven’t lasted as well either (holes rather than ladders), some of those were probably only 2 or 3 wears.

Noddy21 · 16/04/2025 22:01

I’ve had my snag tights years, I’ve tried others but they don’t come close to snag for comfort and durability

User5274959 · 16/04/2025 22:03

Hmmm is this a snag ad or what?
My snag ones that I've worn regularly (the black/skin tone ones) only last max 6 months before ladders/holes which I don't think is great for the price. I do like the fit though.

Gradiuma · 16/04/2025 22:03

😂 no they were not banned, but not mandatory and utterly ridiculous, why you feel the need to wear them? I speak as a former child forced to wear them at school when I’d rather wear trousers. Again, I don’t understand why this is bothering you. Wear them if you want?, don’t wear them if you don’t want to? They ladder, 🤣🤣 ffs first world problems

ZenNudist · 16/04/2025 22:03

As a parent of a teenager I have some tights older than my children.

Sofiewoo · 16/04/2025 22:04

It depends on the style too, sheer tights will often snag really easily regardless of quality or brand imo.

WonderingWanda · 16/04/2025 22:07

Sheer tights usually just one wear before they snag on something so I only wear them for special occasions. Otherwise I just wear some M&S opaque tight, probably about 40 denier. They last ages. Probably get 6 months out of them but they do get tumbled dried occasionally if dh doesn't sort the washing properly and that seems to wreck them eventually, they lose their stretch and become unwearable.
