The next thread, royal style mavens! The title suggestion was from our last thread. Mary of Teck was never knowingly underdressed or less than bejewelled!

Thank you, @Serensterfor the lovely photos, I’d love a trip to the V&A soon.

justasking111 · 14/05/2025 21:46

OH my what a treat to visit the exhibition. Thank you

SqueakyDinosaur · 14/05/2025 22:06

It was great - I went with a friend on Monday. I loved that they had a lot of the archive sketches there too - made it much more interesting, and they themed quite a lot of it around the countries that they drew inspiration from.
The last room is just wall to wall tiaras - my favourites were their version of a wave one, and an olive branch one.

Choux · 14/05/2025 22:06

I looked for tickets at the weekend. If you want to go on a weekend the next available tickets are August! If you can go midweek there are tickets in July but there’s nothing left in May or June. It’s POPULAR!

SqueakyDinosaur · 14/05/2025 22:10

The alternative is to join as a Friend, in which case you can stroll in whenever you want. I've never regretted buying my membership, which I got because of another blockbuster exhibition - I think the McQueen one.

SqueakyDinosaur · 14/05/2025 22:11

Admittedly it's not cheap. But it's about 2.50 a week and I do go there quite regularly, so I think I get value from it.

BridgetJonesesOwl · 15/05/2025 03:46

@SqueakyDinosaur that's an absolute bargain when you work it out at cost per week (I nearly said cost per wear 😂)

Thanks for the photos @Serenster

What did you both think of the Mountbatten Tutti Frutti Bandeau Tiara? I'd love to own that!

They have a lot of tutti frutti pieces in the display, I absolutely love it! So beautiful.

AllTangledUpInDaisiesAndDiadems · 15/05/2025 08:22

I'm planning to go and I can't wait to see all the treasures!

SqueakyDinosaur · 15/05/2025 08:52

The tutti frutti pieces made me think. I'm not sure I like them, but it was a way of displaying enormous wealth in a frivolous way, not dripping with ancestral diamonds but wearing something bright and eye-catching in a different way. Very much part of the post-WW1 Bright Young Things era, of rebellion against Victorian/Edwardian mores, without disrupting the existing class structure.

eggandonion · 15/05/2025 10:32

A tutti tutti would be handy to jazz up a dull outfit!

AllTangledUpInDaisiesAndDiadems · 15/05/2025 10:35

Would be quite a fun piece for the supermarket run...

@Maireas if no one's bagsied it could I please have the tiara pictured above? Unless @BridgetJonesesOwl would like first dibs since she did say she'd love to own it!

AllTangledUpInDaisiesAndDiadems · 15/05/2025 10:39

Also I'd like to relinquish the Imperial Russian Crown Jewels. I acquired them for the Coronation (God what a disappointment that was in the jewellery dept!! Will never get over the lack of bling); I thought the crown was a dinky little thing but have since discovered that it's awfully big and far too much for lounging around at home.

Back to the museum it goes!!

BridgetJonesesOwl · 15/05/2025 11:20

@AllTangledUpInDaisiesAndDiadems @Maireas
as long as you let me borrow it you can have first dibs on the tiara.

I think if I had it full time I'd develop a serious sweet addiction as it just makes me think of Haribo, Fruit Gums & those big goody bags of Swizzle sweets they do.
I'd end up with no teeth if I owned the Tutti Frutti tiara!

BridgetJonesesOwl · 15/05/2025 11:26

@SqueakyDinosaur that's a very good explanation
@Serenster they are beautiful.

@eggandonion the only other accessory you'd need is a tutti frutti belt & then you could get away with wearing a bin liner!

Camilla (with Charles) in Yorkshire, Max with statement hat in Amsterdam, and Mike Tindall wishing Xara a happy 44th birthday with a photo from a celebrity golf event last year - she’s in a Me +Em jumpsuit.

Max, I love the Pringle hat of course, who wouldn't? But I genuinely don't know what's happened to the outfit, it looks like 2 different ones put together quickly. I love Zara's dress and it suits her. Sweet picture. I don't think Cam's coat is very flattering, perhaps it's the belt?

Papergirl1968 · 15/05/2025 20:32

Zara, sorry, not Xara - fat fingers!
What I love about Max is that she always looks so vivacious, even if her outfits are outlandish.

Maireas · 15/05/2025 20:35

She's great and she can totally carry off most of the stuff she wears, including the giant jewellery.

Oh I love Leti's shoes with the gingham outfit - am going to look them up.

They have an outlet in Boston - I'm heading there!

Lunde · 15/05/2025 23:34

Love the Wedgewood blue colour of Camilla's coat.

justasking111 · 16/05/2025 08:03

Not outlandish I love this outfit on Max
