The next thread, royal style mavens! The title suggestion was from our last thread. Mary of Teck was never knowingly underdressed or less than bejewelled!

I expect they were hoping for a warmer day and then Charlotte would not have needed a coat. She's probably having a growth spurt . Also we know the royals like to re wear clothes and not waste.

I think Charlotte will get a new coat for Trooping the Colour incase the weather is bad.

eggandonion · 05/05/2025 23:03

Oh that's coming up soon!

nhsmanagersanonymous · 06/05/2025 08:34

I wonder if Auntie Sophie has one of Louise’s coats tucked away that can be reused.

deeahgwitch · 06/05/2025 08:57

As usual Kate looks great.
I don’t like Sophie’s outfit. it does nothing for her figure.
Is Charlotte wearing tights ?

eggandonion · 06/05/2025 10:22

Was the wearing of tights an issue at the time of the flower girl incident...I can't remember if wearing tights was 100 percent necessary, or not.
There might be a rack of classic coats for royal girls somewhere. The equivalent of getting a bin bag of outgrown clothes from a cousin!
Sophies outfit wasn't great, is she not patron of a uniformed organisation?

KnickerlessParsons · 06/05/2025 12:19

I think Charlotte must have been wearing tights as she didn’t have any socks on.

When Charlotte was younger she often wore coloured tights with dresses. I certainly remember powder blue tights with a summery dress and a cardigan one Easter Sunday when it was a bit on the chilly side. I suspect she was wearing grown up tights yesterday.

According to protocol, tights should be worn on formal occasions such as weddings. Kate put forward that view. Meghan wanted the flower girls in socks or even just sandals. I will leave it there...

deeahgwitch · 06/05/2025 15:21

I think cream or white tights with a flower girl dress is lovely, nicer than socks.
I don’t like the look of nude tights.
I didn’t think it was “in” for girls of Charlotte’s age but I may be out of touch as my girls are older.

eggandonion · 06/05/2025 15:28

I prefer tights to goose bumps! Sitting around can be chilly.

Lunde · 06/05/2025 15:34

The thing with the bridesmaids was that Meghan decided no tights and no socks and that they should just wear these brand new leather shoes against their bare skin. I think Kate gently tried to suggest tights but Meghan refused.

It was clear the shoes were not very comfortable and there were photos of Charlotte standing awkwardly trying to rub her feet - clearly she had no tights or socks

There could even be coats from Peter Philips daughters. I've certainly seen pics of Mia Tindall wearing a blue coat with red facing which was previously worn by one of the Phillips sisters. It wouldn't be a big stretch to pass one on to Charlotte.

I think even then that Charlotte was capable of saying 'yes Mummy I do like pretty dresses and shoes but this outfit doesn't work for me' 😂

I note that the kids call Willian “Papa” ..do you think is pronounced Puparr ( the posh way) or Pap (rhymes with sap) a?

deeahgwitch · 06/05/2025 16:52

I think navy tights would have looked better on Charlotte than “nude colured”tights or bare legs at the VE day memorial.

eggandonion · 06/05/2025 18:43

I'd have worn navy tights with that coat myself. But I find it difficult to get anything except black or nude.
I assume the service of thanksgiving is a grown ups event.

Because it is being held during school hours, I can't see any Royal children being at the service on Thursday.

I agree.
I think she’s still a bit young for “grown up” tights.

I think the market is so much bigger in the UK than in Ireland there would be lots of places to source navy tights @eggandonion
M&S and Dunnes Stores have them here in Ireland. I’d say Shaws have them
too as would BTs/Arnotts.

Charles and Camilla’s coronation portraits were unveiled at the National Gallery today.
Note Charles’ castle-print tie!

Camilla in red is a change! I like KC's tie, he has one with T. Rex figures on, I believe a joke from his grandchildren about him being C.Rex!

That's so sweet! And I love that in the portrait of Camilla, the embroideries of her dogs are clearly visible on the hem of her robe.

Choux · 06/05/2025 20:15

A tiara and trainers at a state dinner!!!

Queen Silvia is recovering from foot surgery so has attended a state dinner for Iceland in trainers.
COV has a lovely dress on and her sister also looks amazing although the dresses are very different. One fairytale and one decidedly more grown up. Maddie is wearing a new to her tiara too I think.

Camilla went on to see the poppies at the Tower of London which probably accounts for the choice of a red outfit. It also accounts for the choice of the poppy motifed gloves which I do not like.

Poor Silvia! CPV looks very pretty and summery. I love that bright pink dress.
