Do you wear linen trousers in the summer in the UK?

I used to then gave up as they look like a rag after 5 minutes.,
I KNOW that's 'the look' and it's fine overseas when it's hot but not too sure about City wear in UK (not in an office.)

I think you have to accept and embrace the creases.

Lentilweaver · 13/03/2025 13:16

Yes. I am in London where it gets very hot.

Woodworm2020 · 13/03/2025 13:17

I can’t bare the creases!

You need ironing!

ExquisiteSocialSkills · 13/03/2025 13:28

Yes but you have to not mind the creases.

Ilovelowry · 13/03/2025 13:37

Yes. I don't find they get especially creased. I work in a school so they are all I can bare when it's 30deg in my office. I wear cropped though.

ChorusOfDisapproval · 13/03/2025 13:39

Yes but only black ones. Can't bear light coloured trousers.

theressomanytinafeysicouldbe · 13/03/2025 13:40

I love linen trousers, as long as I don't have to sit down. I only wear black in the UK, I like white when I am abroad

kiwiblue · 13/03/2025 13:42

I do - navy blue and cropped ones.

BashfulClam · 13/03/2025 13:56

My trusty cropped, wide leg stone ones gave up last year, they were ancient. I can’t see any I like online though they are all elastic waists.

Nightmanagerfan · 13/03/2025 14:01

Uniqlo have lots that are nicer shapes than the traditional wide leg - eg they have some cropped barrel legged ones that look smart and don't crease

TeaRoseTallulah · 13/03/2025 14:20

Yes,navy or black cropped ones.

AprilF00L · 13/03/2025 14:20

Yes, cord in the winter and linen in the summer. Love linen time.

TheJoanCollins · 13/03/2025 14:21

I think it’s worth paying a bit more for linen. I have some very old (15+ year old boden) linen trousers that still look great. A pair of supermarket ones I purchased last year went into a charity bag, as they looked like rags after a couple of washes. Saying that, Boden quality has dropped off in recent years, so I don’t know what they are like anymore.

thedevilinablackdress · 13/03/2025 16:36

Yes. Agree with pp's on quality, heavy linen in dark-ish colours. Slouchy styles, elasticated or half elasticated waist preferred. The sort of thing Oska or Beyond Nine do. No white spit-peas-through fabric, or anything that's trying to be smart or tailored.

Doggymummar · 13/03/2025 16:39

Yes, I have a selection from m and s but I've lost a lorra lorra weight since last Summer so I guess they will be going to VINTED along with all my summer dresses which were new last year too. Wah

socks1107 · 13/03/2025 16:44

I stopped wearing them last year because they looked so shabby once I’d done my train journey to work. I love them though

wizzywig · 13/03/2025 16:46

I know I'm being unreasonable but all I think off with linen trousers is 'I can see your pants'.

Sorry, but anything barrel-leg can absolutely never look smart!

XxSideshowAuntSallyx · 13/03/2025 17:15

I used to wear some i got from Primark all the time about 15 years ago. Bought a pair last year and actually really like them. I don't bother ironing them.

I only ever wear white ones. I find other colours make me feel old and drab.

Gundogday · 13/03/2025 17:18

Yes, and I love them. They do need ironing though to prevent them looking like rags.

carrotsandtomatoes · 13/03/2025 17:44

For looking urban I prefer a linen blend. The look of linen but less creasing. On holiday I’m in 100% quality linen and the creasing looks fine in context

lindyloo57 · 13/03/2025 18:23

I have a pair from viyella still in great condition around ten years old and they are half lined. I brought a second pair from m& s they lasted one year

I wear linen trousers a lot and you cannot see my pants at all. I really can't envisage what you are meaning.
