Do you wear linen trousers in the summer in the UK?

I used to then gave up as they look like a rag after 5 minutes.,
I KNOW that's 'the look' and it's fine overseas when it's hot but not too sure about City wear in UK (not in an office.)

I'm not fond of linen, but regarding knickers, red knickers are less visible under white trousers than you would expect.

It's something to do with the absorption of light qualities of certain colours rather than matching exactly to your skin tone.

Or sunburn.

I don’t wear linen, l think it should be called “creased in” 😀, and l don’t wear trousers in the summer. Only exception from skirts and dresses is when l’m doing the garden, to prevent attacks from spider willies.

I’m wearing mine now …a pair of chambray look linen trousers with a t shirt .
cool , comfy and yes I know I’m creased

BuddhaAtSea · 01/08/2025 19:41

I’ve got 8 pairs, black, white, navy and olive. COS, Massimo Dutti and Boden. I’ve worn the white ones to death this summer, I’ve lived in them so far. Normally I’d wear them abroad, UK never seems quite sunny enough for white linen trousers, but this summer, like the 2020 one, has been glorious.

White linen shirts I wear all the time. With barrel leg trousers, they’re not new, been wearing them for ages. Birkenstocks, chunky silver jewellery and I’m good to go!

I live in linen in summer; I've fully embraced the slightly creased look.

@WifeofBathtime I bought the Russell Hobbs steamer 2 in 1 so saves me loads of time with my linen trousers currently hanging neatly on my door

I hate creases but I found a gorgeous pair of linen blend trousers in Zara for £27.99 that are cool, smart and comfortable!

Update

I bought some. Boden. I know they get some stick here but I am pleased with mine. They are listed as straight leg but are in fact wide leg on me. They hardly crease and the linen is quite thick.

They were over £90 but with discount came to around £75.

Worn and washed them a lot so far.

I love them and wear them all summer. I have cropped and full length. Mine are from H&M, Next and ASOS. The jeans get put away until Autumn i just find them too uncomfortable and warm in summer.

Lucelady · 02/08/2025 12:22

Lands End do great linen. I have two pairs of white linen trousers and a wonderful tomato shirt dress.

FastFood · 02/08/2025 12:31

I never wear linen, i'm very anal about having perfectly ironed and crease-less clothes so linen is a no-no for me.

And yes its quite often that linen trousers are a bit see-through.

TealReader · 02/08/2025 12:58

I love linen but usually look for heavy linen or a linen blend. I accept ironing them and that they will get somewhat creased. I also love barrel leg trousers, and wide leg trousers and all the current available trouser shapes!

TeaRoseTallulah · 02/08/2025 15:59

I never iron my M and S cropped linens. Wash and shake and hang on the line and within 5 mins of wearing once dry they look perfect.

spoonbillstretford · 02/08/2025 16:00

Linen mix is your friend.

GranolaDisco · 02/08/2025 16:10

I hate linen. Hate the look and feel instantly scruffy and schlocky when I wear it.

I view linen like I would an ugly but practical sun hat - strictly a ‘needs must’ for a rare whole day outside in 30+ degree heat, Absolutely never in the UK.

Linen mix is your friend.

Definitely,I think most of the M and S stuff is a mix.

henlake7 · 02/08/2025 21:22

Yes. All my linen trousers are a mix so you get the look and feel if linen but no creases
