What pajama bottoms is everyone wearing (comfy, don't shrink in wash, can open the door in them etc)

Trivial issue, I know. But all the comfy pyjama/at home type trousers I have (mostly from Uniqlo) shrink massively in the wash, even when I wash according to instructions. Any recommendations (ideally under £25-30ish) for either semi-presentable PJ bottoms, or just comfy home trousers, that don't look totally naff?

British Boxers. Amazing quality and nice shape.

ScrambledSmegs · 12/03/2025 22:28

I run really hot in bed and find Their Nibs too thick for me. My favourites are the beautiful wisteria pattern John Lewis own brand but they're really lightweight so I don't think I'd dare open the front door in them on a sunny day!

Oddballs

Best pjs I've ever had. And I've had loads!

menopausalfart · 12/03/2025 22:42

My Tom's Trunks are slightly more expensive, but they wash extremely well and are so comfortable.

How times change. When I was growing up in the 70s and 80s it was virtually unheard of for women and girls to wear pyjamas. It was nighties/nightdresses/nightgowns and nothing else!

Not when I grew up in the 70s! Totally normal!

Callingallbutterflies · 13/03/2025 05:42

Hollister. Wash and tumble well, NO shrinkage, and pockets, I call them house trousers. The tartan are especially answering the door friendly.

MinnieMountain · 13/03/2025 05:46

My favourites are M&S men’s cotton ones.

Ilovelowry · 13/03/2025 05:50

I wear a pair of beige jogging bottoms I bought from the lounge wear part of Tesco during lockdown. Baggy, cuffed and so ugly I'm not tempted to walk the dog in them 😁

For me pj's have to be cuffed and I like leggings style.

I wear them with whichever vest I've had on all day as underwear (bra removed). Usually a primark vest. Then a cashmere jumper on top if its cold.

Can't stand dressing gowns or Pj tops.

Harbourofdiscovery · 13/03/2025 05:57

For many years I bought Their Nibs but find the cotton ones colour fade more now and the sizing can be erratic (same size different length bottoms and arms).

But if you can get them at the bargain prices in TKmaxx have a look, but now I would not pay full price for them.

soccermum10 · 13/03/2025 07:18

I can't wear cotton, so tend to buy viscose, silk or polyester. Loving the Primark ones at the moment

Ohyeahwaitaminute · 13/03/2025 07:20

@Ruthietuthie - I 🥰 LOVE 🥰 the Heidi C stuff you posted a link to… absolutely gutted that they don’t ship internationally. 😡😡😡

I’m a sucker for a nice dressing gown and I think hers are beautiful.

I have these from next. They’re really lightweight and thin and sooo comfy. Plus I can get away with popping to the coop in them if I have to.

another vote for these. So comfy

Gettingbysomehow · 13/03/2025 09:27

I just bought a cheap pair of black and navy silky fabric joggers from Next. They come in a pack of two. They are super comfy and look like casual trousers. If I'm home I wear them all day.
I don't like being seen in PJs during the day. They are loose fit.

17CherryTreeLane · 13/03/2025 09:35

I came on to say cyberjammies, but they've already had quite a few mentions. Love them!

charmanderflame · 13/03/2025 09:42

Next jersey joggers are great. Had them for years, they don't shrink and are very wearable, good material etc.

Chelsea Peers
Such lovely PJ’s that don’t shrink and stay looking great

1Dandelion1 · 13/03/2025 22:01

Nutmeg high waisted cotton black leggings, together with an oversized cotton t.shirt make perfect PJs.

GameOfJones · 14/03/2025 07:40

I actually wear Llama leisure joggers. Perfect for lounge wear or PJs but no issue wearing them out of the house as that's actually what they're designed for. They wash and tumble dry perfectly and have a cuffed ankle so don't ride up in bed. I have far too many band t shirts from various gigs and concerts that I wear with them as PJs so they get some use but I don't worry about putting the bins out or answering the door in them.

DecafDodger · 14/03/2025 07:53

I would not sleep in them, but I have recently discovered Oysho joggers. So soft, comfortable and very presentable, wearable in public. This type: www.oysho.com/gb/purple-wide-straightleg-tracksuit-with-modal-l32913791654BSBS?colorId=654&categoryId=1010550091
