Want to recommend these jeans to everyone but esp to the short and be-bellied.

I haven't been able to transition out of my elder millennial skinnies before now as no other jeans I've tried have looked right or felt comfortable on my body shape (5'4, size 14 with a belly).

Bought these in the short length in black and they are just perfect. Soft but sturdy denim with stretch, super comfy, suck the belly in, perfect wide leg without being too much. Went straight back online and bought the blue ones.

Oooh, I'm also a 5'4 elder millennial in search of new jeans. Thanks, I think I'll give them a go

Elder millennial. What does that make me then? I was born in the 80s 😭

I am marginally shorter - 5ft 2inches, but can't do high waists as I have a very short torso and it just cuts me in the wrong place. Would love to find a similar jean that's mid rise, not high rise.

That's exactly what I want for the same reason! I am sick to death of high waists!

BB49 · 17/03/2025 14:03

@Continuewithfacebook I loved the low rise bootcut jeans back in the day!

Oblomov25 · 17/03/2025 14:03

Watching. I am very small and struggle with jeans.

thanks! I'm looking for jeans atm (my most hated part of clothes shopping!), annoyingly I'm inbetween sizes - not that that means much when every shop seems to works to a completely different size. It's so hard to find jeans that fit well as a short-arse!

Although looking at those, 30 inch leg isn't really the 'short' size, is it? I thought that 30-32 was about standard, with 28 being short and 26 (the shortest I've seen) being extra short? (and then 34 being tall)

Edited

Agreed! I'm about 5, 1 and a 28 leg. 30 is not short!

ballroompink · 19/03/2025 18:09

For fellow people who need a 'short' leg length, I went to a physical shop today and they had the Adalae in Short!

I tried some on as I struggle to find wide leg jeans that look right on me; I'm pear shaped and the straighter fit through the waist and hips often doesn't quite work. But these are a great fit. They weren't too gappy on the waist but didn't cling too much on the hips.

SlowFerry · 20/03/2025 06:06

Thanks for the tip OP. The jeans are fab, my belly almost disappears.

TimeForATerf · 20/03/2025 09:12

I wear this style from M&S after literally 10 years of skinny jeans. I absolutely love, love, love them.

Which ones?

This is also my problem! I am 5 1' and have a short torso. High waists come up nearly to boob height for me and really restricts what I can wear on top. I tried the Adalae jeans and way too high waisted, although I do have a few M&S wide leg high waisted trousers that actually do work on my short torso (ponte utility wide leg and cord wide leg). It's the expanse of stiff denim across my be-bellied short torso that looks weird.

Today i'm wearing a pair of Next cigarette tapered trousers which come up to about my naval and they suit my proportions much better. I'm on the hunt for some mid rise jeans now.

Can you post a screenshot as only takes you to m&S page , thanks

Whodrankmytea · 21/03/2025 05:57

I'm looking at the recommendations on here and especially the New Look ones but worried that anything but skinny jeans will just make me look shorter and dumpy (I'm 5 ft nothing).

Newbie1011 · 21/03/2025 06:41

Thanks OP - I really rate New Look Jeans. I really like the Hannah jeans as well if you like cropped. They are really flattering on my post-baby belly!

Chipswithketchup · 21/03/2025 06:45

Ohhh thank you for starting this thread. I’m 5ft 2in & have the dreaded C-section overhanging belly & really struggle to find jeans. I love a wide leg with trainers so will check these out.

LongOutBreath · 21/03/2025 06:53

New look jeans are the best! They also do a tall range which has a deeper rise as well as a longer leg.

stayathomer · 21/03/2025 07:01

Thank you for this thread everyone, I was beginning to think my days of any jeans were gone (44, love eg bootcut or slight flare but have a belly)

anotherside · 21/03/2025 07:16

Average height isn’t short!

RedCatBlueCatYellowCat · 21/03/2025 07:17

Since when was the average height short?
What does that make those of us who are shorter than average?

MightyGoldBear · 21/03/2025 08:05

What are people wearing as a whole outfit with these? I can't to tight tops as I will look pregnant (diastasis and hernia) but I worry if I'm baggy/loose/flowy all over I'm going to look a much bigger size than I am.

I’m the same. I wear loose-ish fine knits. Soft jumpers. Shirts, nice blouses. New Look are good too for stuff like that.

DataColour · 21/03/2025 09:11

I also rate the Hannah jeans. I have a pair in petite washed black and they are a nice length as slightly cropped which is flattering. Skims over my c-section pouch on lower tummy. I've ordered a blue pair on Vinted and waiting their arrival.
