Mine is a good/unusual collar.

OP posts:
DuchessOfNarcissex · 11/03/2025 09:58

Boots (don't ask me how many I have, even I don't know)
Love a polka dot
Yes to dresses and overalls being easy to wear
Jeans
Bright funky prints (but usually wear black or plain)

piscofrisco · 11/03/2025 09:58

Graphic t shirts with odd slogans.

Jackets and coats. I think I read somewhere when I was young that if you got your coat right nothing else mattered. Nonsense but it's stuck with me.

Cocktail rings

DuchessOfNarcissex · 11/03/2025 10:00

@piscofrisco , a coat and a pair of boots is my version. Hides a multitude of sins.

Mosaic123 · 11/03/2025 10:12

Clothes that fit me properly.

I'm slightly under 5ft. I do have things altered though but it cuts down the choice massively.☹️

I'm always looking for comfortable shoes with no heels that don't look comfortable.

The worst shoe related insult is if someone says "they look comfy".

Stylish flats in other words.

TheOriginalFrench · 11/03/2025 10:15

Where are you looking for shoes, @Mosaic123? The world is full of cool, stylish flat shoes right now.

MotherWol · 11/03/2025 10:21

CoffeeWithHer · 07/03/2025 10:52

Blazers. I don’t understand how you put an outfit together without one 🤣

And coats. I’ve got into cloaks / capes too so I’m permanently on Vinted trying to find some old smelly relic I can rescue.

Sunglasses. Can be a fiver or £400 - I love them all. And by hiding 60% of my face. I think I’m 60% more attractive.

@CoffeeWithHer I want to wear blazers, but I don't know how! When I try I feel like I'm channeling Liz Lemon/awkward mid-2000s suit jacket over jeans vibes. What I want is more relaxed 90s J Crew catalogue, but not too oversized, and looking intentional. How do you do it and how can I pull it off?

Can I have an anti-fashion weakness?😄

Coz Im a 52 yr old women who probably owns way too many pinafore dresses and dungarees!
They are my go to comfy outfit and my version of leggings and sweatshirt.

I have lots of both. i love dungarees.

@Mosaic123 , my mum's great for stupid comments like that. Her best ever was that my trainers looked nice and warm.
Not quite my first consideration when buying running shoes.

The latest one was 'Are those shoes comfortable?'. My reply 'Not particularly, they're all right'. She said 'They look comfortable'
FFS. She might as well have said they were hideous.

A good comment is something like 'You have beautiful boots' or 'I love your boots'.

@NormaMajors1992coat They aren't most people's preference, and they aren't cheap. They've been described as looking like old school gym pants, but they're very well made, last years, have no elastic bits, and they stay in place! They make some very weird patterns, which could be "fun", but I stick with the block colours.

They are actually similar to ones I wear from wirarpa, more expensive though! They look really comfortable.

AnnParrot · 11/03/2025 10:41

Cardigans. I have more than 15. I am super fussy about the texture, so if I find something I like I will often buy it in several colours. I like extra fine merino, or sillk blends, and hate cashmere and mohair.

I’m also a bit obsessed with three-quarter sleeved boatneck tops. Current count is 9. Three of those are black.

Tbf I often choose footwear for the warmth factor 😆😆😆 or comfort. Lifelong fan of Birkenstocks and sheepskin boots 😁

Bluebellwood129 · 11/03/2025 11:12

Vintage Saint Laurent

DuchessOfNarcissex · 11/03/2025 11:21

@mewkins , did you read what I wrote? They were not cosy looking furry boots.

I have warm boots with sheepskin liners, but who buys running shoes because they look nice and warm? Do you want your feet to be nice and warm in the gym?

Chelsea2026 · 11/03/2025 11:35

I'm obsessed by fleece hoodies - perfect for these cold winter days when out socially or dog walking.

MisshapesMistakesMisfits · 11/03/2025 11:38

God help me but I’m a slave to an adidas trainer. Particularly if they lure me in with ‘limited edition’ 😳

I love Adidas trainers too

Serenity45 · 11/03/2025 12:33

Birkenstocks...for about 25 years. Currently have about 20 pairs on rotation between March and October. All Madrids.

Oh and the bags....the bags...about 200, some now 30 years old a mix of high end (MiuMiu, LV, Fendi) with Radley, M&S and others. Love a soft slouchy huge bag but have some smaller more structured ones too. Not bought a new one in years and my younger sisters are now lusting after things like the baguette shaped bags which are back in fashion again 😁

Sinthie · 11/03/2025 13:07

Melissa ultragirl flats (esp Vivienne Westwood ones).

happytobemrsg · 11/03/2025 13:10

Anything green 💚 I have green trousers, shakets, jumpers, bags, cardigans, trainers, sunglasses, hair clips… currently eyeing up a green pouch to go in my handbag.

I also love sunglasses as I absolutely hate squinting when it’s sunny. I have a mix of brands. Picking up some (non prescription) ones from Vision Express this week & I really liked the look of some I tried on in Anthropology (kicking myself for not buying as the nearest shop is an hour away).

At the moment my other obsession seems to be Zara. I’m having to buy a lot of clothes from scratch to deal with new postpartum body & about 80% had come from Zara. Lots of drawstring trousers & cute jumpers.

Recently got into Uniqlo cashmere & bought 2 v necks in the sale. They hang beautifully but not washed them yet. If that works out ok I can see me buying many, many more 🤦🏻‍♀️

jjeoreo · 11/03/2025 14:00

Navy blue anything. I don't even think it really suits me.

Vests. I love getting my arms out - they're strong.

A cowl neck. If I could turn back time, I'd have designed my wedding dress with a drapey cowl front and back.

Catarinabella · 11/03/2025 14:14

Clothes, shoes, accessories. The lot

jellyfishperiwinkle · 11/03/2025 14:32

These trousers. I have them in red, two pairs of black and one green.

Those trousers are lovely @jellyfishperiwinkle

Luckily I have just bought something similar, so able to resist for now

Love those. This is a dangerous thread... because now I'm thinking I may need more cardigans .....

CoffeeWithHer · 11/03/2025 18:08

I know what you mean! I have a pile of blazers for Vinted as they’re too try hard and now I look at them - they’re too short for this fashion era.

I would definitely look on vinted / eBay / charity for men’s blazers - my favourites is one of my Husbands Reiss castoffs - and I think it’s the length that changes the whole look. that little bit longer is definitely the JCrew look. And if you can find a seamstress locally, they’ll honestly be your best find (I asked on FB and now have a lady that does all my alterations at a third of the price at the dry cleaners!) for the blazer love! They’ll be able to pinch it in if needed and sort the sleeves. You’ll be able to get the look your wanting this way.

personally I always go slightly bigger (sometimes a lot bigger as I wear them over a hoodie) and you can grab unlined ones so they’re super easy over shirts so you don’t feel too restricted.

And lastly the fabric, if it looks remotely shiney, put it back 😬

excuse the lack of punctuation- broken screen 😆

and if you can,
pop to m&s and try on loads from the woman’s / men’s department and have a play around with sizes.

Good luck!
