Mine is a good/unusual collar.

I’ve owned one pair of dungarees in my adult life, @henlake7 - a collaboration between Jean Paul Gaultier and I forgot who. Normal wide legged denim but with the Madonna conical bra (in denim) at the top. They were glorious and definitely fashionable.

Had I been blessed with @Floisme‘s wardrobe wisdom I would have wrapped them in tissue paper and stored them in a temperature controlled vault. Instead I wore them until the trouser part wore out. Threw that bit away and cut off the bra top. Still have that somewhere - but I doubt the V&A or Vogue are going to chase me for it … Grin

Summer dresses, have dozens but live in the UK. And any sort of vest top, love those

I'm the same.
Dresses, vest tops, anything 'beachy'.
I live in a city centre, a city renowned for pissing it down.

TheCovetedDuchessRose · 10/03/2025 13:00

Midi dresses- especially any “Old Topshop”. I have so many dresses and they all all colour co-ordinated in my wardrobe. I love admiring them, and if anybody asked me to show them the dresses in my wardrobe I would be so happy. 😂

I am also an avid collector of Band T’s and I love a top with a witty slogan.

Finally, any dress or top with a pretty collar, pussy bow and/or puffy shoulders. Love love!

staybyyou · 10/03/2025 13:08

Jumpers. I have way too many!

Londonmummy66 · 10/03/2025 13:20

Beautiful embroidery. That means a lot of vintage. I've had to reduce my wardrobe as building work means I will have less space. So I'm having to sell some utterly beautiful pieces that I know will never fit again. Utterly tragic.

Starlight1984 · 10/03/2025 14:02

Studs! I have studded belts in every colour, studded boots, some gorgeous studded heels from All Saints... 😍

I live in jeans, jumpers, cardigans (and t-shirts in summer) so always add a studded belt or boots to make them look a bit less boring 😂

EllaPaella · 10/03/2025 15:02

Jeans, grey jumpers, white broderie blouses and sandals.

100% with you on that last point. Never seen in public without my Ray Bans.

Me too. I have many many sunglasses. Now my dd shares them with me it's an excuse to buy more. Worn year round (but not indoors obviously).

Chelsea2026 · 11/03/2025 07:16

Skater dresses with tights and heels with a jacket for work or bodycon dresses are my weakness

dudsville · 11/03/2025 07:40

For me, it's solid brand devotion. I have one brand for boots and shoes, another for sandals, one for pants, one for bras, and one for clothes.

NormaMajors1992coat · 11/03/2025 07:49

Would be interested to know which are 'your' brands @dudsville if you don't mind sharing?

CheeseWisely · 11/03/2025 07:50

Brilliantly for my wallet it's become seeking out gems in charity shops.

Best recent find a pure wool blazer in perfect condition that would have retailed at about £250, for £6. Doesn't show any signs of wear at all. I shall wear it until the arms falls off.

We don't have the storage space to get carried away, so I try (but often fail) to work on a strict one in, one out basis.

They're nothing unique, and they align with regard to aesthetic. I wear DM boots and shoes, Birkenstock sandals and clogs. Thunderpants pants! These are the most comfortable pants and last the distance. Sloggi wireless bras. Toast brand clothes. I used to shop from a wider variety of shops, but in my attempts to curtail window shopping and random purchases I've just narrowed it down to these. It's the same with toiletries and makeup, I now just stick with the few things I know and like.

zaxxon · 11/03/2025 08:25

At the moment, lipstick! I never wore it till about age 48. Then it hit me how much fun it is. Now I own about 12 lipsticks, far more than I'll ever need ... and at least four of the shades are functionally identical (but have enough super-subtle variation in my eyes to justify having spent £££ on them all)

NormaMajors1992coat · 11/03/2025 08:31

That's interesting @dudsville, thanks. I have never tried Thunderpants but fully on board with the others. I like the idea of simplicity, must save a lot of time and remove a lot of hassle and agonising over things.

Off to google Thunderpants, not sure how wise that is..

dudsville · 11/03/2025 09:05

@NormaMajors1992coat They aren't most people's preference, and they aren't cheap. They've been described as looking like old school gym pants, but they're very well made, last years, have no elastic bits, and they stay in place! They make some very weird patterns, which could be "fun", but I stick with the block colours.

Chelsea2026 · 11/03/2025 09:19

Can anyone recommend their top 5 fashion brands?

deeahgwitch · 11/03/2025 09:27

Dresses
Shoes
Handbags
Lipsticks
Bronzers - I don't wear foundation.
Eye pencils - I'm still looking for the perfect shade and texture.
Mascara - I'm a sucker for trying the latest "best mascara", despite thinking Chanel Le Volume is the business.

Grey jumpers. Marled, pale dove grey, charcoal, woolly, cashmere, Aran, sweatshirts… I must have 20 😳

This but green 💚

Zebracat · 11/03/2025 09:44

Cardigans. I’m embarrassed but it’s true. I fervently believe that cardigans are transformative, even though the stereotype is that they transform anyone wearing them into Eleanor Rigby. So many cardigans though, a huge drawer full, with my favourites hanging in the wardrobe, and the summer weight cardigans stored of course. And a discarded cardigan in every room. After reading this thread, I want the Equality not Revenge slogan, but on a cardigan.

On a globally read website? So they sell out of the stuff I have my eye on, put up their prices and reduce their quality?

You Must Be Joking. Grin

(I do regularly recommend several of my favourite places, but not all …)

rubberduck68 · 11/03/2025 09:46

boyfriend jackets, preferably in some kind of tweed!

I want a hobbs or karen millen quality work dress but not at their prices

WhoWhereWhatWhy · 11/03/2025 09:50

I've recently had a massive clear out, and I spent about two weeks going through the bags and bags of clothes that I'd gathered, in many sizes, across all seasons. Seeing it all out together made me realise that I buy a lot of the same type of thing.

So I had 35+ cardigans (they all fit) that were all quite lightweight, all crew neck. I had 30odd pairs of jeans, but these were different shapes and lengths. I could go on.

So my weakness is definitely liking something and then buying it in every colour. I also have problem feet, so if I find shoes that fit, I will definitely not only buy them in every colour but also buy a second identical pair as a back up.

Fashion wise, my weakness is a summer dress. I love dresses, especially summer ones, as they don't require much thought or co-ordination and its easy just to put sandals with them.

CharlotteCChapel · 11/03/2025 09:52

Velvet and glitter. Even at 60. I have three pairs of black velvet trousers.

I wear them all year too.
