Having facelift surgery in 10 days - support and advice needed

HI there,

I'm due to go for surgery on 15th March. Face and neck lift under local anaesthetic. I'm 53, medium weight, would like to be a bit lighter. I've had a horrendous few years personally and it's shown a lot on my face. I'm in a better place now and feel this will give me a boost to restart the 'new me.' I'd love to hear from anyone really as I haven't told many people I'm having it done as it seems so vain. My dd is very supportive though. I don't have a current partner.

Any tips from those who have had similar procedures? Or chats with anyone thinking of getting some work done. Or even haters who will tell me that looks don't matter and I should bin it off.

I’ve always thought no Botox or filler will ever be as good as a facelift and your photos confirm that OP.

Health is everything. Looks are not.

BringMeTea · 21/03/2025 14:56

That is a great result OP. Really good. 🎈

Clopo · 21/03/2025 15:08

It's looking amazing, the bruising seems to be coming down quickly too.

MerryForever · 21/03/2025 15:15

Thanks everyone. I have to say that in the photos you can’t really see all the swelling round my ears, the bruising and stitches. There’s still a long way to go. I look much more football-headed than the pictures show but today I’m hopeful. I haven’t yet regretted the decision even though the pain and discomfort has been difficult. The pre-surgery photos and the sadness in the folds of my face are not something I’ll miss.

@MerryForever Bloody hell, I can see the results already. I'm having mine (full deep plane, brow, neck, the lot) in April and wish I'd considered Nduka now. I'd heard he was good from a very well-informed friend, but I went with a (more expensive) London surgeon for reasons I'm now beginning to doubt having seen your pictures. Any tips gratefully received - apparently, I don't have to sleep upright as my neck's being done too and there's a danger I could loll, so it's just loads of pillows for support. I've also been told grapeseed extract + bromelain + arnica + coenzyme Q10 for healing along with hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

Facelift101 · 21/03/2025 16:02

Oh to those talking about Marc Pacifico - his waiting list is VERY long atm.

Hmm - I thought you still had to sleep upright with a neck lift too? I had a bit of neck but not much. Mr Nduka is absolutely amazing - very calm and warm and has a reputation for taking a long time over what he does and being a perfectionist. He’s been great at being in contact too - phones me back the same day I have any queries.

I think my best advice is to prepare to not do anything for a week, especially the first few days. For me, but not everyone else at all, the pain was much more than I’d anticipated and the realisation that it’s going to take longer to bounce back from is longer than I’d hoped.

Get lots of good soups in. Spend at least the first night in hospital so they can monitor pain levels and give you the appropriate doses of meds.

Wow, have only just seen your thread OP, congratulations on the operation. The before and afters are honestly incredible! Hope you post a few more when all the swelling has gone down.

Im just about to hit 40 and the changes in my face already get me down occasionally. Fine lines around my eyes and mouth, make up just doesn’t sit right anymore, and the jowls under my chin 😩 It’s great to see someone who has gone through this experience because it’s definitely something I would consider in the future. So sorry if I’ve missed it but can I ask what the total cost has been?

SnakebitesandSambucas · 21/03/2025 17:26

Really glad your happy with it! 😄

Good to have both though

CautiousLurker01 · 21/03/2025 17:31

Echo everyone here - it’s hard to believe the after photos are the same woman as the befores! And you will only feel better about your self with every week that pases. So pleased from you - and inspired… have been longing to explore this but been too nervous and the sharing of your story has put my mind at rest.

namechange222222222 · 21/03/2025 17:34

@MerryForever

You look fantastic already. I can only imagine that when the swelling goes away, you'll be thrilled!

Does anyone on here have any experience of Rajiv Grover?

glitterturd · 21/03/2025 17:35

@MerryForever those photos are amazing !

EveryOtherNameTaken · 21/03/2025 18:44

Amazing!!!

Did you have you neck done too?

CautiousLurker01 · 21/03/2025 19:00

@Facelift101 can I ask which surgeon/clinic and - erm - how much? Happy to be PMd if you’d prefer?

OrchidOrchard · 21/03/2025 19:16

Wowzers! It looks amazing already

KathrynWheel · 21/03/2025 19:52

The difference is incredible. You have naturally lovely lips too!

stanleypops66 · 21/03/2025 21:11

The change is huge! Can’t see the rest of your face and don’t know what age you are but you looks like you’re 10 years younger her! I hope your recovery is good!

OP has given that information in her posts already. Have a read through.

I wasn’t asking OP… I was asking @Facelift101 as I am interested who she is going to compared to OP. Fully read up on OP’s posts, but thank you.

Facelift101 · 22/03/2025 07:05

@namechange222222222 Raj gives a very natural result - some say too natural.. expensive but good. Very long wait list just for consult - you start by sending in photos. In terms of deep plane, I’ve heard the term is being overused by surgeons; there aren’t that many that do true deep plane, Raj is one of those that does do actual deep plane - but steel yourself on cost.

Have sent PM - I’m due in 3rd April and will report back when I’m done.

Only a few weeks for you too! Silly question, for OP too, how long between initial consultation (although I’m guessing there may be a wait for those too) and the surgery date? Am assuming they don’t rush you in and give you plenty of time to consider and be certain it is for you?

Flux1 · 22/03/2025 07:48

Fair play on having the guts to do it. I hope the pain is much improved now. Did you have the 7 hour operation under local anaesthetic? Were you aware of what was going on? I think that would scare me most. Best of luck in your recovery. I'd love to see a pic after the healing.
