My engagement ring arrived this morning and I'm so in love with it, can I see yours?

I think you've posted yours before on another thread and I'm drooling now just as I did then!

I chose my own ring as if I am going to wear something every day then I want to pick it!

So my husband and I go shopping and in the first shop, I absolutely fall in love with a ring. It's exactly what I wanted, but it was way more than I would ever expect my husband to pay.

We continue to look, but nothing feels like the first ring. We go into another jewellers and talk about having a similar ring custom made but with a cheaper diamond, but the jeweller told us that if I've found the ring, then I've found the ring.

So, my husband says we are going back and getting the ring.

However, I've lost quite a lot of weight since then, so the ring is far too big and I've actually not worn it for about 6 years. I don't want out resized until I'm at my "goal" weight and I've never managed to hit it!

The ring on my middle finger is my wedding ring that is also too big now, so I wear it on that finger instead.

My original rings became far too small after i was ill. These are alot chunkier than I would like, but i dont mind them.

That's my ring! Lol. 2005 I got mine. He chose it himself.

Congratulations and gorgeous ring OP! I love opals! Was wanting to use my late nannas Opal for my engagement ring but it’s too big to be resized to the size I need! I proposed to my partner last feb on the 29th and bought this ring myself… however I’m now regretting it as it doesn’t sit right with a wedding band! Wishing I had just chose a solitaire!

So many people make that mistake. To anyone not yet engaged and reading this thread as inspiration, DO bear in mind how a wedding band will sit under the engagement ring you chose. If it's a vertically long setting then it needs to be very high set (not flat or low) so a wedding band will sit neatly under it, because it can't sit tightly up against it.

Or accept that you will need to have a custom made band with a dip or a V or a scoop to accommodate the shape of your engagement ring. If you don't like the finished look of that then go for a different engagement ring. But do think about this in advance or you'll end up never wearing the two together.

I have a really inexpensive single diamond solitaire on a yellow gold band for my engagement ring. It cost all of. £300. But hubby and I were so young when we got engaged (I was 21) and neither of us had good jobs then, we got what we could afford. And even now we’re older and still together (28years), I love my ring. It reminds me that we came together with nothing and everything we have we worked together to get. We’ve been together since we were at school.

Sometimes I wonder about getting it reset with a rounder band so it's less "blocky", or getting the East-West setting turned North-South (don't see many East-Wests for some reason) but I think I'd feel sad altering it now after all these years. I often stack them up with my art deco milgrain eternity ring or wear just my wedding band and eternity.

I’ve never posted a pic before so hope this works. Mine’s a classic cut diamond with small baguettes either side. My husband bought the eternity ring above when we were on holiday - I love that the diamonds go all the way round.

We got engaged at Christmas. I’m not really a diamond kind of girl but I love mechanical watches so we got a watch each.

Married 51 years never had an engagement ring and only wore my wedding ring for the ceremony.

I got married ( for the second time) 2 years ago. I know nothing about my ring, my husband bought it and surprised me with it, but I love it! ( my wedding ring was my mothers and eternity ring also a surprise. I don’t care that nothing matches… that’s me all over!!!)

I was widowed over 8 years ago and these were my rings. Top eternity, middle engagement and bottom my wedding ring. I get married again in 2 days. I’ll post my engagement ring but my wedding ring is packed away!
