Hi, just got back from my long trek to the Toast Exchange with DSis, (who could attend after all!)
We got there at 5.30 to find people already in and swapping. We were allowed to come into the shop without queuing, but our names were checked off on a list and I don’t think they’d have let us in otherwise. There was a rather nice elderflower drink on offer.
There were only two small rails of stock, (there had been four or five rails on previous visits). It looked like everything available had been brought in by people that evening, whereas under the old system, Toast staff seemed to have some exchange stuff on the rails before the event started. This would explain why most of the items tonight were the same size, as some people had brought several items in, and also why there wasn’t much there as so few people were allowed into the event.
I tried a few things on and there was a bit of circulation on the rails as people took stuff away and a couple of latecomers brought things in.
What was there was mostly good quality stuff - there was a beautiful jacket that was just my colour and it looked lovely on - but sadly it was too small! I swapped my tunic for a jacket, (it’s still a bit small, but I may be able to make it work). It was a good value swap for me, (if not very exciting).
DSis had brought half her wardrobe but only parted with three items. She ended up with a lovely viscose dress, a pair of cords and a pair of linen trousers, for which she exchanged a pair of jeans, a t shirt and a shirt. I think she got the best of that deal, tbh.
I am not sure it was worth the four hour round trip to get there, but it was a pleasant enough experience.
