@Theteapotsbrokenspout That's a lovely wee Spring capsule wardrobe!

Hi all,

Has anyone been to an Exchange event recently? I was wondering how people were finding the new ‘hand over your stuff at the door’ policy now it’s been running for a while.

I was supposed to be going to an exchange this week, but DSis has stood me up. I get a bit intimidated going on my own, (especially as this new system seems a lot more formal/regimented). I was wondering whether to rebook for a later date or not bother.

On a related note: Has anyone heard anything about another sample sale at KC?

Thanks

Just noticed there are two new Gabis! ash Brown and Pine. The Ash looks very like the previous beige ones but I assume they are darker. Tempted by both!

Snowyowl78 · 04/03/2025 18:29

@IlovePond not seen anything about a sample sale- Kilver court normally put it on their Instagram!

IlovePond · 04/03/2025 19:24

Hi @Snowyowl78 - thanks.

If anyone sees it on Instagram, please let us know, (I’m not on it).

I'm a Toast virgin - also a voyeur - and have just bought my first item, a pair of tan leather mules. I absolutely love them.

Snowyowl78 · 04/03/2025 19:44

@IlovePond last year they had one at easter!

mizu · 04/03/2025 21:20

@IlovePond I'm off to an exchange this week .....last time was a bit frustrating as there were only two young girls doing the checking of clothes and labelling them and a queue of us waiting patiently in line, all far too slow.

As for a TOAST sample, I reckon there might be one around the weekend before Easter but they probably won't tell us until a few days before.

IlovePond · 04/03/2025 23:56

Hi @mizu and @Snowyowl78 - yes, I went to the sample sale at Easter - it was pretty good, but I can’t remember for sure if it was the actual Easter weekend, (I think it was).

Toast are so annoying with their lack of organisation/prior notice about sample sales. Any normal company would advertise it weeks in advance to maximise sales 🤷‍♀️

Has anyone got the Fracap ola sandals and can you tell me me if they stretched much widthways? I just received a pair in the post with the new Zoe ones too. I don’t like the Zoe ones on, but i love the Ola ones. But they are quite neat across the foot on me as I have wide feet. Thanks.

FitzLea · 05/03/2025 14:33

@ScottishMouse what colour Ola did you get? I found the olive leather much softer than others, and found the leather stretched quite a bit on that pair. I do have pretty narrow feet as it is though…

Just thought I’d share a picture of my new splatter enamel soap dish - I think it’s really lovely!

That’s pretty @FitzLea

Thanks @FitzLea, yes they are the olive ones. I’ll have another try later and see how they feel.

faustina · 05/03/2025 16:20

@FitzLea - that is lovely!

ToastCosILoveIt · 06/03/2025 23:42

@PrincessofWells , I ordered the culottes in a 10 and a 12 but, having tried them on, they’re not for me. I can’t get them to hang right somehow and they don’t have the look on me that I thought they would or that I wanted.

i also ordered the cotton linen canvas wide leg trousers and the waistcoat in the same fabric and they are both keepers, really hang and fit well and I will get wear out of them. The cut of the trousers is perfect for me and the waistcoat, unlike one of the waistcoats last year, is generously cut but not oversized, very flattering.

I’m sending back the linen cotton knitted tank, fairly shapeless and lacking in any style, very mundane, although I appreciate it gets lots of love on the reviews on the website.

Hi, just got back from my long trek to the Toast Exchange with DSis, (who could attend after all!)

We got there at 5.30 to find people already in and swapping. We were allowed to come into the shop without queuing, but our names were checked off on a list and I don’t think they’d have let us in otherwise. There was a rather nice elderflower drink on offer.

There were only two small rails of stock, (there had been four or five rails on previous visits). It looked like everything available had been brought in by people that evening, whereas under the old system, Toast staff seemed to have some exchange stuff on the rails before the event started. This would explain why most of the items tonight were the same size, as some people had brought several items in, and also why there wasn’t much there as so few people were allowed into the event.

I tried a few things on and there was a bit of circulation on the rails as people took stuff away and a couple of latecomers brought things in.

What was there was mostly good quality stuff - there was a beautiful jacket that was just my colour and it looked lovely on - but sadly it was too small! I swapped my tunic for a jacket, (it’s still a bit small, but I may be able to make it work). It was a good value swap for me, (if not very exciting).

DSis had brought half her wardrobe but only parted with three items. She ended up with a lovely viscose dress, a pair of cords and a pair of linen trousers, for which she exchanged a pair of jeans, a t shirt and a shirt. I think she got the best of that deal, tbh.

I am not sure it was worth the four hour round trip to get there, but it was a pleasant enough experience.

@ToastCosILoveIt im excited about your waistcoat and trousers outfit! I want it too. What size did you get in the waistcoat and what’s your standard toast size? Toast said that the 10 is akin to the medium from last season but I am nervous to order a 10 because it’s rare I am in a toast 10 apart from Gabis and the odd enormous dress!

@IlovePond glad you managed to get something at the swap and didn’t have to hand over all your stuff! 2 rails doesn’t sound like much though

IlovePond · 07/03/2025 07:02

@Snowyowl78 - there were maybe 30 items available at any one time, if that. Fortunately, most just happened to be in my size.

When I went before under the old system there was loads of stuff and people were able to pop in at any point during the day.

Restricting numbers of attendees to about 15 under the new system, (some of whom might even have turned up without items to swap as they had tickets from previous events), meant that there was very little there. Also, most people had left by 6.15 and I would be surprised if anyone else had showed up before the event ended at 7pm.

Having said that, the running of the event was a lot less restrictive than I had been expecting - DSis just kept the other items she had brought with her at the bottom of her bag once she saw there wasn’t much there. She planned to ‘remember’ them later if the fancy struck her and I think the staff would have been ok with that. The other attendees were friendly, as were the staff.

Despite the lack of stock, my sister got three great items and my jacket is in good condition, (just a bit small and not really my thing).

I will be interested to see if any of the leftovers turn up on Reworn in the next few months!

There were a few events running last night. Did anyone else go? If so, what was your experience?

mizu · 07/03/2025 08:08

@IlovePond I too went to an exchange last night after work and it was a very different experience to yours.

There were a handful of us hanging around outside until 6pm when doors were opened and we were ushered in to have a pep talk!!

How last time was a bit crazy and to make things fair, we should take our clothes to be checked and then browse the rails. Then told there were two rails (both at that point clearly only filled with stock that had been moved around - old, mostly size 6).

There were not enough of us really, I left at 6:30 with a lovely pair of pyjamas and 2 unused tokens that I already had and will keep until the next one apparently in May.

I wonder how many tickets they produce for each event?

IlovePond · 07/03/2025 08:29

Interesting @mizu - thanks for the info. A pep talk sounds a bit grim 🙀

My event was ‘sold out’ and there were only about 15 names on the print out that the staff were using to check attendance.

There were about five people there already when we arrived at 5.30, (it’s a teeny tiny shop, so any more than two in at a time and it looks crowded 😹). I think maybe another five or six people came and went in the 45 minutes I was there.

When I attended an event under the old system at this store there was four times as much stock. It should be pretty obvious to Toast that if they aren’t going to hold stuff over between events to bulk up the stock, (probably because it’s being shipped off to Reworn and due to lack of space), then only letting a maximum of 15 people in to exchange goods isn’t going to result in many items being available!

I have a ticket for another event at a different store in April - if I manage to get there it will be interesting to see how it compares with last night’s.

I have my eye on this dress but am a bit worried it won't work with boobs. Has anyone got it?

ToastCosILoveIt · 07/03/2025 15:25

@Snowyowl78 , I got the waistcoat in a 12. I am a high street 12 and in Toast a 10 or a 12 depending on cut. I have just tried it on again to check for you😀, it is a roomy cut and one that I like. I could possibly have sized down to a 10, not sure it would have fitted across the bust though. I am a 32e chest so smaller at the back but fuller at the front. Coupled with the trousers, it is a really nice set.

Which dress @LizardQueeny ?

Snowyowl78 · 07/03/2025 15:49

@ToastCosILoveIt thank you very much super helpful! Sounds like I definately need the 12 then as I am more of a 14 real life and 12 in toast, very occasionally a 10.
