Whatever your politics, Melania looks amazing.

m There has been some criticism for her outfit today as being too funereal but the coat was dark navy, not black. She and Usha are sartorially exquisite today.

I got Poppins vibes too! I kind of love Lauren Sánchez and her no fucks to give attitude!

Gman1 · 20/01/2025 22:22

Cant believe anybody gives a hoot what she looks like.America has just put a criminal fascist in charge of the largest country in what used tobe a free world.Whie she was stood around like a shop dumy Elon was giving nazi salutes.

CrushingOnRubies · 20/01/2025 22:30

Have to give it to Melania... she's still wearing that hat. She's been wearing it for hours. I'd be getting all itchy on the forehead by now

I think Usha Vance looked very stylish

I loved her pink dress. For me Usha Vance was the best dressed there

Blinky21 · 20/01/2025 22:57

She's so classy, like when she wore that jacket saying "I don't care" to visit child migrants in a detention centre

Seriously. This woman supports a racist, rapist, corrupt dictator wannabe, who very well might collapse the global economy and start WW3. And people care what she's wearing??

Sinkintotheswamp · 20/01/2025 23:14

Melania looked awful. Tidy, but awful. That stupid hat was either to keep Donald away or because she's had a bad eye lift. Or both.

Usha and Ivanka looked good. I hate what they stand for though.

I was reading that lots of designers won't work with her because they disapprove of DT - so rude. She clearly doesn't need them - she looks amazing.

Why is it rude. It's completely reasonable for brands to be picky about who they associate with. Their image is carefully managed. She doesn't fit their brand image. It's true of many people. Kim Kardashian for example. It's business.

changecandles · 20/01/2025 23:17

HopingForTheBest25 · 20/01/2025 21:15

I still maintain that it's rude to refuse to dress the First Lady. It's not about the personalities, it's about respecting the office of President in a democracy - no one can argue that DT didn't win a landslide victory, so to disrespect her by refusing to be publicly associated, is disrespectful to the choices and results which occur in a democracy. IMO anyway.

I doubt the fashion industry is objecting on principle - they just don't want to alienate other rich celebrities. The fashion industry is just protecting its bread and butter business, but I still think it's rude to refuse to work with people who disagree with you - MT will be representing their nation on a world stage.

Hopefully she will take the opportunity to promote up and coming designers.

Oh come off it. It's not rude. There is no protocol for having to dress the First Lady. That's ridiculous.

Very strange suggestion indeed

HeddaGarbled · 20/01/2025 23:20

I’m assuming she’s trying to hide whatever she’s recently done to her face.

CornishTeaTime · 20/01/2025 23:24

💗She looked stunning. I thought the hat would go at the lunch though.

I didnt like the boots Usha wore, pink coat lovely, boots ruined the look 👢

PerfectYear321 · 21/01/2025 00:01

It's so weird to wear a hat over half your face throughout a ceremony like that.

FictionalCharacter · 21/01/2025 01:43

At his first inauguration and during his presidency she often looked close to tears. A hat covering her eyes was a good way to hide.

crumblingschools · 21/01/2025 01:51

I notice she didn’t stand at the many ovations during Trump’s speech, she really didn’t want to be there

bratsummer · 21/01/2025 02:22

I suppose you can’t accuse her of being two-faced. She’s a master of body language and wears her clothes like armour.

HopingForTheBest25 · 21/01/2025 06:38

I don't know that MT could leave D even if she wanted to. Can you imagine trying to get a decent divorce settlement, while he is still president? The msn is Teflon!

Bonbon21 · 21/01/2025 15:20

If you saw the pictues of the first dance.. her body language just screams that this man totally repulses her...
And I don't blame her.....

DancefloorAcrobatics · 21/01/2025 15:29

Whoever thinks that that outfit looks amazing/ stylish needs a visit to the opticians... you know the one, should have gone to S...!

I thought that hat was awful and sums them up as a couple: they have a lot to hide!

I'm sure she signed a prenuptial agreement before they married. She knows exactly what she's entitled to should they divorce.

dottiehens · 21/01/2025 16:17

I guess wherever she wears people would try to make awful comments.

EvelynBeatrice · 21/01/2025 16:23

Tacocatgoatcheesepizza · 20/01/2025 19:41

Now they are at the lunch and she’s still wearing the hat!! No one else is wearing a hat. Is it not bad manners to keep it on during a meal in America?! Definitely an anti Donald device I think!

I don’t know about American etiquette- they’re not big hat wearers are they? However, at least in my neck of the woods, the old fashioned ‘rule’ at weddings was that ladies removed their hats only after the mother of the bride had done so. As the First Lady id the USA, I guess she rules the roost.

I suspect she liked the semblance of privacy the hat gave her. I don’t think she enjoys being gawped at.

Onecanonlyhopeitwillhappensoon · 21/01/2025 17:03

MT's MAGA hat was in the wash.

CulturalNomad · 21/01/2025 17:19

I agree. I didn't care for the hat; it looked awkward to me (particularly since the whole event took place indoors).

But she's certainly aware that many people (and a majority of the American press) intensely dislike her husband and scrutinize her every expression for the purpose of making mostly disparaging comments: She appears "bored, depressed, angry, hates her husband"... fill in the blank.

But he is the President of the United States and she's chosen to be with him so while I think she's in a no-win situation, this is something she signed up for.

She looked elegant in the gown she wore to the various evening events. Usha Vance looked amazing in her gown as did Ivanka.

MT will never be destitute... But something's keeping her there because she's not giving loving wife. Or even mildly happy woman.

I thought her hat was awful but looking how everything DT does has a message, Im sure everything MT does is deliberate too - including that 'I don't care' coat when she went to the refugee centre.

Aaaaaalll deliberate. And she DGAF what we think.

BringMeTea · 21/01/2025 17:30

I can only imagine the mutual loathing between her and his other spawn.
