m There has been some criticism for her outfit today as being too funereal but the coat was dark navy, not black. She and Usha are sartorially exquisite today.

That hat is specifically designed to make sure her husband can't kiss her...even on the cheek. Did you see the air kiss when he came in?

She looked classy, unlike Jeff bezos lady friend. I think she forgot to put a top on 😔 especially in that cold weather!!!

I did not like the hat though, it covered half of her face entirely - Ivanka's hat was nice, elegant but not overpowering - sorry but we should have been able to see Melania in full view rather than obscured by the rim of that hat, it was a fashion miss which is unusual for her as she is normally on point in all things sartorial

As much as I loathe the pair of them, i have to say Melanie does give good inauguration.

Ivanka also looked fabulous.

Jill Biden looked lovely. Luckily Kamala's beautiful smile makes up for her lack of sartorial elegance.

Melania had a great coat on her yesterday. Hat was too low over her eyes.

Jeff Bezos' partner Lauren Sanchez always dresses like that. She obviously loves the style.

I was reading that lots of designers won't work with her because they disapprove of DT - so rude. She clearly doesn't need them - she looks amazing.

I can see that objectively, Melania looked incredibly chic and elegant but she also looked totally closed and unapproachable. Not a look I would encourage for a First Lady.

However, I suspect that’s exactly the look she is going for (plus the ‘No Kiss Zone’ as mentioned above). I also suspect she will be very very low key and absent for this presidency.

As indeed she was last time I was amazed she didn't leave him after the 2020 election.)

All I remember about her previous first lady stint was her digging up the rose garden.

I think she looked good but yes the hat was too low. There was a definite air of "touch me not".

It's not "rude" of a company to consider the reputational issues of working with potential clients. It's probably nothing to do with their personal feelings towards him, and everything to do with their target market's opinion. If they thought it would help them, they'd be clamouring to dress her.
It's just like a company dropping a client or a sponsee (is that the word?) if there's a scandal that the public care about.

Definitely not rude. It's about their reputation and the feelings of their clients. Might be personal too. Would certainly be understandable.

She looks like she’s going to a funeral and the hat must have been designed to deliberately obscure her face.

I think a smile would have been nice (I’ve only seen some photos and her face is def quite grim in all of them). Her last inauguration outfit- pale blue IIRC- was nicer

Not being able to see one’s eyes is quite rude though tbh. Unless you have some condition and don’t want anyone to see them. Or perhaps don’t want anyone to see how much you don’t want to be there!!!

She makes me laugh, the whole outfit says 'fck off' which is something she does incredibly well.
