They're like new as I'm ashamed to say they were in a wardrobe and I forgot they existed. I've lived in some chunky m and s Chelsea boots black suede but these are bit more waterproof. But are they hideous - dare I say it - mum boots (this to prove I'm an old time MN person not a foot fetishist

Boots - keep or donate these ?

With the weather we've got at the moment I'd keep. They look cosy and relatively slip-proof. Not sure where the 'mum boots' comes in - they look like something anybody could wear to me.

Grasmereginger · 13/01/2025 21:58

Like I say "mum boot" was a thing a while back and I'm wary of posting shoe things after hearing some stories about people liking shoes a bit too much. Same could be said of lots of stuff I guess though !

I'd love those boots in this cold icy slidy-under-your-feet weather!

ThisUsernameIsNowTaken · 13/01/2025 22:01

I really like them :-).

Matilda1981 · 13/01/2025 22:02

I really like them, if they’re a size 7 ish feel free to send them my way 🤣

BarbieKew · 13/01/2025 22:05

I hate buckled boots but recently bought a pair - bargain in Jones sale. I chopped the buckle and strap off then unpicked the stitching bit and wiggled the rest out, and they look so much better.

Passthecake30 · 13/01/2025 22:45

I got rid of a pair similar a while ago, they were comfy but I got rid as I’ve not worn heels for about 10yrs and can’t think I’m about to start. I do think they’d be dated if you wore them the same as you used to (I used to wear mine over skinny jeans)

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 13/01/2025 22:51

Don’t look mum-boot to me (black Chelsea boots, OTOH…)

Twinstudy · 13/01/2025 22:54

Donate them (to me if they're a 6, I really like them!)

MotherTuckinGenius · 13/01/2025 22:57

I'd wear them

Thisinfuriatingplace · 13/01/2025 23:01

They’re bloody lovely, another size 6 wearer who wound happily re home them 😂

Printedword · 13/01/2025 23:09

They are quite contemporary. Certainly chunky enough for an up to date look

LionRumpus · 13/01/2025 23:12

I'm quite fussy about boots but I'd wear those. They look perfect for this weather. I love the cosy little bit of fur around the tops.

CharlotteSometimes1 · 13/01/2025 23:14

Donate I wouldn’t wear them

TheYearOfSmallThings · 13/01/2025 23:14

I think they are fine and quite useful in this weather.

TheChosenTwo · 13/01/2025 23:16

I’d donate, these are totally not my style at all.

Yerbumsaplum · 13/01/2025 23:28

I like them, but they're exactly the kind of thing I buy then never wear because, in the end, I just like black! Try wearing them and if you're not feeling the love after a few weeks, you could donate them.

Ihatemondays1962 · 13/01/2025 23:37

I'd keep them. I really like them.

Notalaundry · 13/01/2025 23:37

Do you like them though? Do you have outfits to wear them either? Keep them if you do. Personally I like them and would wear them.

MollyButton · 14/01/2025 03:46

They're exactly the kind of thing my 20 yr old daughter would wear. (She does wear a lot of vintage, second hand though).

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 14/01/2025 04:11

If you don't like them then get rid of them. They are clearly popular with some posters on here so you could probably flog them on Vinted

DoloresODonovan · 14/01/2025 05:46

Chunky boots in Winter, who cares if they are fashionable, they look sturdy, comfortable and a good colour.
Tan looks good with a brown or black coat, why would you be rid of them?
In snow, sludge, wet, when your leather boots are soaked, despite shoving
them full of paper and propping them up overnight, its good to have another
pair/s, especially furry lined.

These boots are deep soled too, good for gripping in Winter, essential in fact.

I'd love those boots in this cold icy slidy-under-your-feet weather!

We have Trax, they stretch, so you pull them on over the soles of your boots,
they are great, good grippers, keep us upright and confident walking on impacted
snow.

Grasmereginger · 14/01/2025 07:21

Interesting ! I wonder if it's my tendency to black that is stopping me.
I'm off the skinnies (but await their return!) so I sure what I'd wear these with. Size 4 sorry folks who wanted them but have larger feet

Interesting. Maybe it is buckles putting me off
