I have set up a new Toastie thread, guys.

@TosstTastic - I noticed that skirt on Facebook. It looks in very good nick. Maybe someone just had it at the back of their wardrobe?

I saw a few old friends in the reworn section just now. There was a Japanese indigo jacket with a little Peter Pan collar which I think I bought from John Lewis during the pandemic.

I'm sure some of the things have just been sitting in their warehouse or used for shoots as @OftenOrange says. I've ordered a quilted Japanese indigo jacket to try because I have a gap for something between a coat and a light jacket. The main advantage of reworn is you can try it on and send it back if it's not right

@Snowyowl78 - I saw that poplin jacket too!

FitzLea · 23/01/2025 13:30

I’ve only the capacity to lurk on here nowadays, but wanted to pop on to say I grabbed the indigo jacket with the little collar @faustina - is it as lovely as it looks? I also noticed that quilted jacket, but I had to choose between the two.

ScottishMouse · 23/01/2025 13:30

@faustina I would have snapped up that indigo jacket if it had been a bigger size. It’s one of the ones that got away for me and I have always been on the lookout for it. Hope it works out for you.

IlovePond · 23/01/2025 14:22

Well, our trip is off. Got halfway to our destination and had to turn around as visibility was so poor and it was too dangerous to drive 😿

Almost home now and the sun is coming out!

I don't mind the idea of reworn. It's a chance to revisit old favourites. It adds to the mumour about fast fashion and responsible manufacturing.

I've also had to recently clear the wardrobes of someone who adores clothes. I didn't have the stomach for vinted. Some of it could have gone to a dress boutique but I wouldn't have wanted to come across those outfits locally. Instead it went to charity and from there to no doubt a huge warehouse to be seperated, pulled apart and realistically dumped on a country ruining their textile markets.

If I'd changed shape or inherited an unsuitable Toast piece I'd welcome a chance to drop it off and move on.

I think Cos trailed a similar scheme a few.years ago. At least it gets senior management engaged.

Countmeout · 23/01/2025 14:34

They list reworn every time I go out ! Grrrrrr

Sorry to hear that @IlovePond were you heading south west, it was frightful for awhile. All the traffic halted.on the A road, localised flash floods. More forecast tonight

Another time.

I had many things that just didn't work for my lifestyle but I adored enough to hang onto over the years.
It's a good lesson in how if you miss out, Toast often repeats an idea. I now have the unpleated.wrap navy wool skirt from a three? years ago with a large patch pocket for carrying my artisan tools.
The pleated version, I think, featured in the dimly lit, empty cafe catalogue era. No pocket for tools but stain repellent if you split your absinthe.

IlovePond · 23/01/2025 15:02

Yes @TosstTastic Hampshire- just getting home now to blazing sunshine 😾

OP posts:
faustina · 23/01/2025 15:26

@TosstTastic - well at least there's some protection from absinthe! 😂

Thenk you @ScottishMouse - if it doesn't suit perhaps I could measure it for you? It's an old 8 so might be big?

@FitzLea - I hope you love it. It's that really soft double faced indigo cotton twill - the same fabric as the indigo Alixes if you have them? It was a beautiful colour and really warm because of the fabric. I think I sold mine because the collar didn't quite suit me.

@IlovePond - how frustrating for you! Hopefully you can plan another trip in the same vicinity soon. the bad weather doesn't get here til early tomorrow morning

IlovePond · 23/01/2025 15:34

@faustina - I phoned the hotel who have kindly agreed to a rescheduling via Booking.com. I am grateful not to have lost the money, but - for once - DH and I were in complete agreement that it wasn’t safe to continue!

DDog was not pleased by his round trip of the M25, but all was forgiven on hearing the magic word ‘walkies’ so that’s the pair of them out for a while. I am sulking on the sofa 😹

OP posts:
ScottishMouse · 23/01/2025 15:41

Thanks @faustina, that’s kind. It would need to be a very big 8 I’d say, but yes, do let me know if it is too big for you when it arrives. Thanks.

FitzLea · 23/01/2025 17:23

Ah okay @faustina, am hoping it works for me. I’m also wondering whether it’ll look nice unbuttoned. Whilst I don’t have the indigo Alix, I have a few other indigo items (shirt and jumpsuits) so I’m assuming (hoping) the jacket will be thicker than those.

mizu · 23/01/2025 18:15

I was unable to access my phone at work until around 2 and the Reworn stuff was down to about 35 items by then so nothing for me.

TOAST scarf could not be delivered by RM today despite my request to leave it in a safe place. They'll try again tomorrow when I'll be at work again......

I did however pick this up today. £45 Vinted, it's in perfect condition, super soft and I love it. A snip of a little video I sent to DDs 😁

Toasties - still loving the knitwear and the chat!
IlovePond · 23/01/2025 18:44

Ooh how lovely @mizu - I am jealous!

ScottishMouse · 23/01/2025 19:50

That’s lovely @mizu.

faustina · 23/01/2025 20:16

@mizu - that's beautiful and it really suits you!

mizu · 23/01/2025 20:36

And it's TOAST btw Grin

PrincessofWells · 23/01/2025 21:20

@mizu it's lovely, I picked a very similar one up on Vinted in the autumn, hits a bit above the knee, £40 also Toast! There are bargains to be found sometimes 😃

OftenOrange · 24/01/2025 10:04

@mizu Love that , fabric looks very like the super expensive duffel coat from last year, but softer.
You seem to have a great eye for finding great things on Vinted.

IlovePond · 24/01/2025 13:58

My last sale parcels have arrived: Dark blue Sketch nightdress in XXS (😹) and the blue Donegal in L.

I have just tried the nightie on with the M pj bottoms from my earlier order. The trousers still look ridiculous and baggy, (even just peeping out from underneath the nightie), so I am returning them, along with the nightie in S/M. The XXS nightie is calling to me for some reason, so I’m keeping it.

The Donegal jumper in L is a much better length than the M, but is ridiculously huge on the shoulders. I tried the M on again and it’s a much better fit, but only looks good under my jersey dungarees as it’s soooo short and too close fitting for the bulkiness of the wool. It looks ridiculous over dresses too, (I have spent the last hour trying it on with everything, so I know 🙀)

It’s a shame, as it’s lovely, but at £95 it’s still too pricy to buy when I could only wear it with one thing in my wardrobe. (Should it reappear in a later sale, preferably at a better price given its odd proportions, I might repurchase.)

Total spend for sale: £86

1 x bauble (of course 😹)
1 x Xmas wooden printing blocks
1 x ridiculously mis-sized nightie

What have other people bought and kept?

OP posts:
Theteapotsbrokenspout · 24/01/2025 14:19

Goodness @IlovePond you're making me wonder how I’ve spent so much:

Blue Cord Lounge bag
Herringbone jumpsuit
Sally Lacock earrings
Decho Cap
Bandana
Socks x 5
Terracotta salad bowl

Total: £449

Poplinskirt · 24/01/2025 14:20

My only sale purchase was a pair of socks @IlovePond hangs head in shame

I've just ordered the Graphic Yoke Sweater in red/ brick with my sale funds and the Gia Washi Print Shirt.
I'm looking at the black crinkle cotton trousers and wonder if they might be useful but they are double thickness which might make them bulky on.
Would be interested to hear from someone who has tried them.

Primrosespaw · 24/01/2025 14:28

Toast sizing is a gamble, but I have been lucky (not wallet) and kept everything.
Final sale list
Galaxy tank.
Geo patchwork quilt in coral
Columbian clay cooking pot
Golden olive silk shirt
Blackhorse Lane indigo denim jacket
long sleeve stripe t shirt
olive Japanese cap
obsidian velvet dress

I am really pleased with all of these items, but really need to tighten the purse now. I cracked and bought a few full price things before Christmas and then an O’Pioneer skirt, which was very spendy. Now need to manage the dopamine and wait for the summer sale. I justified all if this as I have felt the need to update my wardrobe after hitting 47 and putting some pounds on. Clothes from my early 30s and Bangkok and London life just don’t suit Gloucestershire, geography teacher me. Can’t resist a Toast quilt though. I have 4 now, which is ridiculous.

alliscalm · 24/01/2025 14:32

The black denim pinafore dress went back; way too long and the straps were also too long.
I kept the batik bandana and the ecru blouse with blanket stitch embroidery and the indigo cotton/linen twill shirt. Both shirts feel amazing, top quality and were bought in Llandeilo. Very unusual to have current sale stock there but it was so nice to try on and not have the faff of sending back. Total spend: £212.

Tried on the grey cord jumpsuit. It was quite slimming for dumpy old me and I was very tempted but needed help to get it off. I went all panicky and claustrophobic so it stayed on the rail!
