Seen this

What will your surprise bag or accessory be? That's The Mystery!

so not just bags

LuckyDuckyRoka · 26/12/2024 14:49

Would others be interested in swaps? There was a thread last year that was great! There is also a really good Facebook group for swaps and for sale posts.

I would if I get something I don't like. Did it last year with another mumsnetter and it worked out nicely for us both :)

ohbygolly · 26/12/2024 15:44

Knew I shouldn't have looked at this thread! I followed the swaps thread last year, and regretted not partaking so muc that I've just placed an order for one of each size (had to to justify the shipping!). Now of course I've got the fear! Hope there'll be some Irish mumsnetters up for swaps!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/12/2024 15:46

My DD is after a workbag but as she is a fussy little thing I'll just buy one not try and luck out with the Lucky Dip. I;ll use the Essential Worker discount and see if the Free Delivery works .

I bought a Willisden Scooter Cross Body a few years back in Chocolate , it is a good handy bag ( I don't use suede/leather so ideal brand )

Tarnishedbutton · 26/12/2024 15:51

I did this last year and at the time didn't like my bag but I've used it a fair few times it's a small round khaki one on a fabric strap long enough to go cross body but comfortable enough for shoulder too also got a waist belt one in orange which I don't like and have never used don't know where it is tbh.
Think I'm tempted to have another punt on a small.

Forestcantrun · 26/12/2024 15:52

I’ve never heard of Roka til this thread. I’ve bought a mystery bag as they look exactly what I need for my return to Uni. Absolutely any colour would be perfect.
Didn’t really get anything for Christmas so I could stock up on bits I actually need in the sales so any other random sites or recommendations, bring them on🤣

KittenPause · 26/12/2024 16:10

I got sucked into it last year and managed to swap my crossbody Paddington B bag with someone on MN for one in a colour I love and I wear it all the time

I also got a Kennington B bag which I like in a lovely plum colour

Both in the midi lucky dip

isthismylifenow · 26/12/2024 16:10

I ordered last year and as I am not in the UK, I got completely annihilated on the customs charges. DHL wouldn't budge and I I ended up paying more in duties than I did for the two bags. So there is absolutely no way I can do it this time, but will enjoy following along to see what everyone else gets.

Saying that, I have used my crossbody Paddington that I got as a daily bag for an entire year now. And I just love it. I gave it a wash and it honestly looks brand new.

I get so many compliments as the brand is pretty unknown here, so I never blend in and look like everyone else 😃

haje · 26/12/2024 16:54

Oh was hoping there would be a thread. I have done last couple of years, last year then changed with a mumsnetter.

AsWithGlad · 26/12/2024 17:22

I’ve just ordered two from the maxi offer. I’m back teaching this year so used the teachers discount, but meant I had to pay for shipping.

They are much clearer about the t&cs this year including that returns are possible.

Here are screenshots of the descriptions of the mini and midi contents. Only the mini (£22.95 - £39.95) mentions hats.

The bucket hats are £22.95 and the cashmere ones are £39.95, so either could be included. Umbrellas and fingerless gloves are also in the price range and count as “accessories” so I suppose they might be in the mini lucky dip, too.

Bit confused about the T&Cs - so you can get refunds if you don’t like what you get sent? In that case there’s nothing to lose!

Thanks for this - code worked for the discount!

LuckyDuckyRoka · 26/12/2024 17:50

@Lovemycat2023 this is how I read it and thought same as you - if don’t like it/can’t swap it can be returned! Fingers crossed that’s the case!

gingercat02 · 26/12/2024 17:56

@NunyaBeeswax the umbrellas are brilliant. I have the rainbow one.

viccat · 26/12/2024 18:25

@nunyabeeswax I have the brolly and find it good but really heavy compared to other similar sized umbrellas. Fine for rainy days but not one I want to carry around just in case.

Thanks. 😁

And thanks to you too Viccat
I really want a small, sling it in my bag for emergencies type brolly.

Frenchyq25 · 26/12/2024 18:31

I've ordered 1 maxi and 2 midi. I loved the bags I got last year but it would be nice to have a different colour. I ordered this morning and they've already been dispatched

GreyBlackBay · 26/12/2024 18:54

I've just impulse bought two maxi. I'd love a large rucksack and am quite relaxed on colour so long as its not really odd.

Must admit I usually avoid these brands that pretend to be eco friendly. A plastic bottle can be recycled into a plastic bottle pretty much infinitely but once you process it into a material it's destined for landfill. I'm now feeling I should have just bought leather.

You have to pay an unspecified “small postage charge” so not quite nothing, but less than the cost of the item.

Last year there was a lot of swopping here and in the Facebook group, where you each paid the postage to send to the other.

No. I got sucked in like a sheep last year from a thread on MN. Managed to sell them at no loss on vinted. My learning was to pay a bit more (they were on a blanket x% off later in year and on some other websites) and get what you actually want and what suits you .

I saw a woman with a vomit coloured one on the tube last week and thought I bet you were suckered by the lucky dip

I agree, I got sucked in last year too and went for the 'medium' lucky dip and got a small backpack in a revolting pattern called 'mellow camo'. Luckily I also managed to sell on Vinted for no loss, but wouldn't do it again. I ended up buying a colour I wanted from eBay.

mynameiscalypso · 26/12/2024 20:40

I went in this year for a mini; hoping for an umbrella! I don't need/wouldn't use one of the bigger ones but it's not much to pay for the small one.
