Help me find a Christmas Day dress, I'm in a fashion slump

Hi, I've beeb going through a really tough time and I would like to find a really lovely dress to wear on Christmas Day. I've been living in the same old jeans and jumpers as been too clinically depressed for following fashion for ages, but I would love to feel special for a day with the extended family and my partner who has been a bit of a rock lately. Budget up to 150. I like dark jewel tones and nothing above midi length but completely open as to styles and brands, I haven't been in a clothes shop in ages. I'm 36, a size 8-10 and 5'3", pale skin and mid length light red-brown hair and blue eyes. Curvy bum/hips but small boobs and waist. Any suggestions would be amazing... thanks MN!

It depends on your style!

Are you:

American Vintage

Or

Sister Jane

Or

Zara

Or

Palava

Or

Realisation

Or something else entirely? I hope you find something that helps you to feel fabulous.

You’re similar size/colouring to me (but so have green eyes) - I’m planning on wearing this midi velvet dress - just have to make sure the heating is on all day!

Which clothes shops would you normally go to?

GodRestYouMerryGentlewench · 17/12/2024 19:24

@Britpopbaby - did you read the brief? It’s for a family Christmas day - and the OP doesn’t want anything shorter than midi …

GodRestYouMerryGentlewench · 17/12/2024 19:40

We don’t dress up for Christmas day at home - but if I had to spend it away from home, I would, on a £150 budget, absolutely be rushing for this:

Zara dress

Pretty much perfect, to my eyes. And, as it’s not one of their cheaper dresses, there’s every possibility it might actually accommodate a human body.

I think I’d freeze to death in this 🥶

Ha ha. Perfect for a day with the extended family 😁

Sweet Jesus. What the actual fuck IS this? It’s monstrous.

mdinbc · 17/12/2024 20:36

oof, I was going to say the same to Britpopbaby!

This is relatively simple, but a pretty colour and nice fabric. Not too hot or cool for daytime with family.

this one's a bit swishier, but still suitable for a nice family dinner.

Hobbs also have a beautiful burgundy velvet dress with slight Vampire’s Wife vibes.
