I have a love hate with the Yum Pistachio and Yum Boujee marshmallow. I don’t like them at first but the dry down after an hour is addictive. But do I want to wait an hour? I don’t know.

Boujee marshmallow has got both me and dd stopped and asked what perfume we are wearing though when queuing in shops. So people were quite close.

I am trying Jovoy 21 conduit street today. On the test strip it was just grapefruit. Even 12 hours after putting on the test strip I just got grapefruit. Now I would say I get a bit of the almond and woody notes. Not great for longevity. Only on an hour and a half and when I asked dp to smell it he could barely smell it.

From the test strips I am really excited to try olfactive studio vanilla shot. So might wear that tomorrow

BDK Crème de Cuir today. I like leather scents but this is a little too soapy leather for my tastes. I like my leather scents to be even softer and more as the background than the main accord. The citrus in the opening disappears quite quickly. Suede leather is the most often used descriptor on Fragrantica and I would agree.

IDontHateRainbows · 22/12/2024 13:50

My BDK set arrived and disappointly, there was no velvet tonka even tho this was in the description. It had oud amarand instead.

I've reordered from Harvey Nick's as I think j there are two matiere collections in existence. Hopefully this will have the VT.

Meanwhile I tried the creme de cuir which was in the set ( I'll swap this over with the new one when I get the other set) and it's lovely. So that's a hit.

OvaHere · 22/12/2024 14:08

@hughiedoesntfight I bought 10 ml of the Boujee Marshmallow a few weeks ago and I like it a lot more than I thought. I've worn it quite a lot.

happytobemrsg · 22/12/2024 14:21

@OvaHere Oooh I really want to try that one!!

happytobemrsg · 22/12/2024 17:57

Not feeling great today so didn’t put on perfume until this afternoon.

SOTD Sana Jardin Celestial Patchouli. I don’t think I’m a fan but it had very good projection. I think it’s the first time I’ve tried patchouli so I’m happy I’m trying different things.

Has anyone tried Lush Rose Jam?

Really wish I had been able to give Ginger Biscuit a go as it seems really popular. Thinking I might have missed the boat as it might have been nicer before Christmas. Happy to hear otherwise!!

2nd SOTD is Halfeti as Sandalwood Temple completely faded on me. I’m wrapping Christmas presents, it’s raining outside & my room is covered in fairy lights. Halfeti is perfect 😍 I’m going to see if DH will give it a go. His current fragrance is Jo Malone Bergamot & Oud (he only has one at a time) & I think this would be lovely on him. Happy to share if it means I have the excuse to buy more!

Ginger Biscuit comes out every year, I think it's mostly sold out now but will be back next September. it was my most worn perfume in December with Gris Charnel - it really went from meh, to one of my December favourites. i will still wear it in January, but probably not as much.

MiaN · 22/12/2024 18:31

I wore Rare Beauty Find Comfort today - body cream and perfume. The body cream bottle is terrible, I actually had to cut it to use the product. I can see they have tub for the new scent body cream, much better.

Cantonet · 22/12/2024 19:11

Ffern spring '21 is my perfume today.
An earthy warm citrus that's good for cooler temperatures. My favourite Ffern was summer '19 which I've finished 😓

@mrsrg. The Friedemodin Rosee de nuit is truly lovely. It's spicy, floral & a little bit green due to the touch of violet. I've realised all my perfumes are so old now. I store them in a cold cabinet boxed, so they very rarely go off.I used to have over 75 bottles but have gradually sold them off & I'm now down to @ 25.

IDontHateRainbows · 22/12/2024 19:13

Went past selfridges today so trued vanilla powder and quite like it. It certainly has longevity! Hoping the Zara knock off is as good.

I’ll put it on my list to try next autumn, thank you

Sot evening is memo marfa
A soft, confirming scent but not one I'm especially drawn to repurchasing

@hughiedoesntfight I bought 10 ml of the Boujee Marshmallow a few weeks ago and I like it a lot more than I thought. I've worn it quite a lot.

I got the 10ml too. I also expected not to like it. But now it’s almost gone I am thinking of getting a full bottle. Though I suspect I won’t wear it post Christmas. So it might be on my ‘pick up over the next year for September to December’

Thats how I got a vanilla 28 full bottle. Got the 10ml. Used most last winter. Then felt compelled to use the last tiny bit in October and had to have it. But at least I know I like them if I went through a small sample and a 10ml.

SOTD today is going to be Vanilla shot by olfactive studio. It smells delicious. Very gourmand. Very Christmassy. It’s another I suspect might join my full bottle list but will buy at some point to wear next Christmas season. It’s smells like Christmas. The dried fruits, hint of booze, vanilla, little sweet. Looking forward to see how it sits on skin.

IDontHateRainbows · 23/12/2024 07:34

Sounds interesting @hughiedoesntfight

As for me Ambre Vanille today. I like it but it's a bit too citrussy/ tangeriney to RP.

Hoping to get the right BDK set today and return the old, very disappointed it didn't contain velvet tonka. Hoping it's not a mistake with all of them!

Millymollymine · 23/12/2024 14:28

SOTD is vine thief by liberty - smells fruity when I first spray - lots of strawberries - then it dries into something really different - powdery and musky. Love it - though don’t think the longevity is the best as had to reapply earlier

happytobemrsg · 23/12/2024 14:29

Vanilla Shot sounds lovely @hughiedoesntfight

happytobemrsg · 23/12/2024 14:41

SOTD is Sana Jardin Vanilla Nomad. Reminds me a bit of Sandalwood Temple but with more vanilla. It’s not got great projection so better suited as a cosy evening scent when I’m at home. Not one I’ll repurchase but I think I’ll enjoy using the sample for winter nights in. Going to wash my hair now so I might put something else on for the rest of the day

hughiedoesntfight · 23/12/2024 16:52

Vanilla shot had great projection. Dp commented and so did the colleague I walked up the office stairs with. She said I smelled like mince pies.

But it didn’t last. 3 hours at most. Could barely smell it on my wrist after 1.5 hours. My friend shoved her nose on my wrist and couldn’t smell it either at the 3 hour mark. I don’t mind re spraying during the day. But for the price I would expect more that 3 hours. Couldn’t even smell it on my top. I had a 10ml of commodity milk+ with me so put that on. Which is still going strong.

I have also tried ADO ‘pink me up’ this weekend. It’s lovely. The champagne note was incredible. But it’s too similar to Dior Rouge trafalgar to justifying purchasing.

I am actually happy that there’s a few I didn’t I wouldn’t buy in this set of samples. They all smelled amazing on sample strips but not making it on to my wish list. My bank account is happier 😂

happytobemrsg · 23/12/2024 16:54

I’ve now switched to Sandalwood Temple. This is now a firm favourite. It’s so creamy, good projection. From last time, I don’t think it lasts very long on me but it’s so nice

CorneliaStreet · 23/12/2024 18:48

I’ve just been to Lush for a smelling session. Tried Turmeric Latte, which should be my sort of thing judging by the notes but I wasn’t keen. Let the Good Times Roll is lovely and is still going strong on my wrist after three hours, which is pretty good for a body spray. It smells too much like SDJ 71 though, and I already have that. My favourite body spray was Sticky Dates, will definitely get myself some of that.

Looked for the Jo Malone Gingerbread Biscuit in John Lewis but no luck, will have to wait for next year.

happytobemrsg · 23/12/2024 19:02

A question for you all - how many full bottles do you own vs 10ml (not little samples)?

MiaN · 23/12/2024 19:09

What's full bottle? I have some 20, 30, 35 - do they count?

potplantsinparadise · 23/12/2024 19:18

@happytobemrsg 3 x 100ml; 4 x 30-50ml; 5 x 10-20ml.

IDontHateRainbows · 23/12/2024 19:31

I got a sample of turmeric latte. It's intriguing but not a keeper. Mixed it with vanilla 28. It's a little too smokey on its own.

CorneliaStreet · 23/12/2024 19:36

I count anything 30ml or over as full size.

I’ve just had a look and I’ve got 13 full size perfumes and 8 minis (5 - 10ml), plus three body mists.

I’ve been on using up kick for the last year or so, so it’s less than it was. Hoping the numbers will go up a bit on Wednesday though!
